My friend is TheBandit_76's Dad e-mailed me. TheBandit will see picture for Alligator!! Real!!!

The alligator was found between Athens and Palestine, Texas near a house. Game wardens were forced to shot the alligator- guess he wouldn't cooperte... Antia and Charles Rogers could hear the bellowing in the night. Their neighbors had been telling them that they had seen a mammoth alligator in thewaterway that runs behind their house, but they dismissed the stories as exaggertions. " I didn't believe it," Charles Rogers said. Friday they realized to the stories were, if anything, & understand, nbsp; Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden had to shoots the beast.

JOE GOFF, 6'5" tall, a game warden with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, walks past a 23 foot, 1-inch alligator the he shot and killed in their back yards.

Texas is a funny place for exotic pets it seems. I once read that there are more people injured by tigers in Texas each year than in India. The same newspaper article mentioned people buying baby alligators and then releasing them when they got to be too much trouble. Maybe this is mummy, come to look for the kids http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Mmmm. Gator meat.

Gators are definitely prevalent in East Texas.

I've had the unfortunate pleasure to canoe near them outside of Cleveland, Texas and also at Smith's Point where Trinity Bay and East Bay meet.

On one canoe trip in my past near Cleveland, I was paddling along with my ex-wife who was focused on a "gator" that turned out to be a fallen log.

Her focus was so intense on the log-gator that when a real gator splashed into the water about 50 yards aways she screamed and we paddled at light speed all the way back to where we let in at a nearby cabin.

With full steam ahead we slid up on land just enough for her to haul *** up the steep shoreline, leaving the canoe teetering on a point. Which promplty dumped me in the water.

Good thing the gator's were "tame" and far away, because I would have been too much work for them to bother with. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Gators are cool. I grew up in Baton Rouge, LA and spent my summers water skiing on the diversion canal between the Amite and Blind rivers. Not a whole lot of gators due to the boat traffic but when you're layin' on a kneeboard waitin' for the rope to tighten up and a 9 footer (that's a big gator btw) cruises by about 6 feet away it's an awe inspiring experience.

There's a thriving population of gators in the Brazos near Waco,TX.,though,a 5 footer would be a giant.

My Oklahoma connection is in my childhood,we'd go every year to my Aunt's farm near Durant,OK for Christmas.
My Uncle collected knives and gave me one every year, and he'd get up at 4:30 AM every morning and make homemade biscuits in a pot-belly stove.Man,they were good.

EVERYTHING in Australia is huge and deadly poisonous. The Sydney Funnel Web spider gets 10' across and can bite through the bed of a dump truck. The Tiger Snakes grow up to 85' long and have been known to chase down and overturn small cars to get to the people inside.

The box jellyfish and sea snakes wait just offshore for unsuspecting snorklers and swimmers. What they don't get the White and Tiger sharks (non-poisonous) will finish off.

It's a horrifying place. That's why it's a penal colony.

I used to love going up there.

Whole thing is a fraud.

The croc in the truck is a Nile Crocodile.

The photoshop enhanced Alligator at the land fill
is an American Alligator.
But it's been rather heavily re-touched.

I would guess it's enlarged.

We have been shmoozled.

Wow that's a big turtle. It's a shame it drowned after becoming entangled in some buoy ropes.

I took the pic. below in the Bahamas. It's a sleeping green turtle with a shell about 3' in length. Besides the fact that I suck, as it got dark the current picked up a bit so I didn't frame it very well.

The head, at the very least, has been enlarged and/or added. I'm thinking it might be a croc with a gator head slapped on it. If we could get a better shot of the cab of that truck in the back we would know if it's Australia or not but, no such luck.

There have been cases of really old gators in the 16' and maybe larger range but they are VERY rare.

I was thinking it might be a new world record.

I have been a reptile buff ever since I was very young, and have kept many species including poisonous snakes, constrictors, and lots of gators and caiman. But I never heard of a gator that big.
The camera angle seems to make it look larger.
