Will the pilot be able to choose tracers/ammo types in the upcoming game?

Go over to the Banana Forum at 1C.
Oleg used to hang out at this forum, but no longer.
Here (http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/forumdisplay.php?s=43f9d476824e8b5c69915624d49e343 c&f=98) in the link to the "Banana Forum". You can read all the news on Storm of War.

This is what I read on there...

Quote:
44) Are we able to choose exactly what type of ammunition we want for our ammunition belts? What I mean is can we choose the types of bullets that we want. If we want to load Gun 1 with all HE and Gun 2 with all Tracer, or no Tracer and Gun 3 with 4 AP and 1 Tracer, or 2 AP and 3 Tracer etc. If we could custom load each ammo belt, this would really open up a lot of possibilities for the virtual pilot.

It will depending of mission. And limits defined on server.

What does he mean exactly??

Here's a guide to the standard loadouts used in the BoB. AMMO (http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/BoB.htm) Note that the eight-gun fighters tended to use differing loadouts in separate barrels rather than mixed in individual belts. Note also that AP weren't available at the time, and that the RAF were changing from standard tracer to de Wilde (ignite on contact) rounds.

Nowhere in any book about BoB have I read about pilots pick 'n mixing their ammo loadouts. Some experienced pilots may have instructed the armourer to forget about the final rounds being tracer (see article) but pick 'n mix wasn't carried out on an individual basis. Likewise it seems for the Luftwaffe. Note the piece about the need to reset the guns' actuation in order to fire differing rounds.

I think the reality is that you went out, jumped in the plane, and fired whatever was in the belts, and then came home if you were lucky.

You are quoting my question that Oleg answered a while ago.
Depending on mission might mean that certain ammo types are not selectable for certain missions.
Limits defined on the server is what the server will allow for online play.

I haven't read too many books on the BoB, but I believe that any pilot could have asked his ground crew to include or exclude certain ammo types from the belts providing that the ammunition types were readily available to add to the belts.
No one is going to tell you that you MUST use tracers, but on the other hand, some units removed tracers completely from their belts.

nice link Brando, some great info http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

As to the OP, if not having custom belt loads was going to be a deal breaker for you, i am somewhat suprised, as its really going to be such a tiny part of SoW...
