View Full Version : AI stupidness still in the Patch 1.1b

AI planes still seem to be quite stupid in the patch. I have some examples that I hope someone will see in the development team.

1. When an AI plane gets shot up so that its engine dies or loses most of its power -> Ai starts to cruise directly home and crash lands when its altitude comes to zero. The problem is that if the AI-plane gets damaged over those great russian plains, the AI-pilot doesn't try to land there but cruises straight home and most often crashes into the forest (which of course happens to be right there). So the AI-pilot doesn't try to do anything to save his life but instead most often crashes into the woods even though plains were just around the corner.

2. AI doesn't use tactics suitable to their planes. E.g. 109-pilots still get into dog fight (turn and burn) with the i16, Yak or LA5 (the new superplane). In some online missions (VOW and VEF) this really has an effect on the outcome of the whole mission.

Here some notes I made about the patch.

Maybe you should go back to pre-patch and really evaluate on the basis of variances you can discern.

Knowing that the Russians usually killed German pilots and weren't big on taking prisoners; it would make sense for a German pilot to head for the safest place to abandon his aircraft or vs vs. Oh, you said crash. I wonder does it really matter if the 1s and 0s crashes in enemy or friendly woods.

The T & B thing drove me nuts in CFS2, but I haven't picked up on it being so bad in the IL2-FB. Something we'll all have to watch for a while to get a handle on what is really happening.

Regardless, I think we all need more time with the patched version before flaming the AI programming. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I've been BnZ'd plenty of times by those nasty AI Luftwaffer's... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
