..... You're welcome, Cajun. I posted this data to illustrate how the subject of a/c performance is so much more complicated than we think.

Blut, do you have the frontal areas of the radiator pods?

..... Lufty,

Don't know if you missed the note at the beginning of my original post, but each listed type of radiator, inter-cooler, and oil cooler has its frontal area in square feet expressed as numerical values in parentheses. Those are the only values I have.

Do you mean a frontal area category different from what I posted?

Blut, I took your numbers to be the area of the rad face, not of the pod they were mounted in.

..... OK, I understand now. The tabular heading of the chart from which I took the data is entitled "Radiator Type and Frontal Area". Frontal area may or may not include the mounting. The accompanying text unfortunately does not shed any light on that point.

Taylor Tony had the RR spitfire at his shop at E. Midlands recently while its engine was being replaced. He took some quality photos of the radiator installation but I wish we'd thought to ask him to ask some of the techies seeing to the air craft about the rads. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
