View Full Version : Mission Mate v2.0 question

Just a quick question:

Which operating system is Mission Mate v2.0 compatible with?(Win98 second edition,xp,2000 for example.

I would like to know before I donwload....

Mission Mate was originally written and tested with WinME, although the latest version has only been tested (by myself that is) with XP professional. Having said that, the coding has not changed on a level that should be affected by the operating system.

Hi CrazySchmidt,
I've got Mission Mate v2.0 installed.
But... I'm running win98 second edition on my system, and it will be a long time before I update my OS to win XP,Like I said.

So,here is the problem:
I have Mission Mate v2.0 up and running, but whatever I attempt, even closing the program,I get the following:

module MSVBVM60.DLL at 017f:660c9c85.

Along with:
runtime error7http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gifut of memory.

Any ideas to the cause and/or solution?

Well I've not seen this one before and to be honest I'm sure what would be causing it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

What I do know is that the MSVBVM60.DLL file is required for the running of programmes written with Visual Basic (which Mission Mate is) and without it it won't work (no surprise there).

I've done a little research on the "runtime error7 out of memory" message and it relates to an error that can occur with Visual Basic data bound list controls, however I do not use any of these controls in the Mission Mate project. Microsoft also states in the article that the cause is unknown. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Sorry I can't help with this.

CrazySchmidt, I am wondering if you ran into a similar problem I ran into with UQMG... You are now using XP like me. Apparently XP lets you be a lot more "free" with controls and memory resources in VB6 than in Win98/Me. If you are interested, here is a few threads of when I ran into the memory problem, up to the solution.

Not sure if it is the same issue, but it is sounding somewhat similar. Seems that with the new controls I had added, 98/Me machines could not run some of the features. Apparently a Win98/Me machine with 512/1G RAM is less efficient about memory management than a PC with 256M running XP.

Best Regards,

Hi Gents,
Thanks for taking the time to look into the problem. In the meantime, until I have XP installed......

Time to get busy and learn the FMB. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It's high time that I did anyway.I mean,I've been playing this since the original IL-2 ya know.

Hi UD,

Thanks for the link to your threads, I was following these at the time thinking to my self "I'm glad that's not happening to me." http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Although the issue you had and this one are both memory based, I think they are different. The error "runtime error7 out of memory" that p-39driver mentioned is quite specific in the MS knowledge base as being related to data bound controls which I do not use with Mission Mate. The other thing is, it was running fine on WinME with all the same controls although the list entries weren't as large.

One thing you could try p-39driver if you get to read this again, is to try setting the map and plane list option to Pacific Fighters which greatly reduces the list entry sizes for the pop down list controls for the plane choices, although I have feeling that it probably won't resolve this issue.

Cheers for the advise and links UD.

Yeah... I figured you were "more smarter" than I am http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Maybe someday we'll meet and have a few beers.

Just a quick note to CrazySchmitt and UberDemon.....you guys ROCK!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Thanks very much for the UQMG and Mission Mate, I use both all the time, and would hate to be without either these days.
You guy's efforts have improved offline gameplay in this series tenfold.
Thanks again.

UD, the respect is mutual my friend I feel that way about your work trust me!!

I think a great idea would be to combine our efforts for the next sim and make something big for fans of both QMB's. I know it has been talked about loosely before but considering we/I have time between now and the next release (BOB) I would be serious about a joint effort.

I am just about done with MM and am starting to think what's next? If you are interested lets start the planning now otherwise I will have to commit to some boring work project!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

UD, I too would love to sit down over a few cold beers and chin wag, I know we would have a lot in common. I hope we get the chance some day.

Bluedog72, It's a pleasure, hearing comments like this is what keeps me going with MM.

Now if we could talk you into a campaign mode! Saved mission results, build next mission with target intel from previous missions, priority targets marked on map, then we select waypoints, targets and load out‚‚ā¨¬¶Gen mission, fly mission, than exit for mission results‚‚ā¨¬¶maybe even manage recourses, available fuel, aircraft, pilots, armament‚‚ā¨¬¶.tactical FB, I want way too much http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif Mission mate is great http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif thank you
