Hi all,

Sorry about the 'with Subs' pun....

I've been trying to buy a DVD of the original German 1981 version with English sub-titles. I'm not seeking the 'Directors Cut' version.

IMO, dubbed versions don't have the same atmosphere.

I've tried Amazon but only the Directors Cut version is available.

And here's another clip...the U-Boat crew singing a WW1 British marching song...

It makes the film unique http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I don't think I've ever seen the theatrical version on DVD, but I could be wrong.

The Director's cut has both the German version with English subtitles and the dubbed version, IIRC. I watched it about 6 months ago, and it was in German. No question about that.

Amazon.de .at ...? What I do wonder where can one get the fanatic version... (ie. the TV miniseries of 6 hours or so worth.. nice extras about the characters)

My DC version have the German original too. Agree, the Germglish version is bloody awful...

PS : Jesus, I've long wondering what sort of accent is the of the erste WO(?) at 0:37... Bavarian...? Prussian..? Or just the guy simply can't speak ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

PS2: Best thing to do is _not_ to watch any other film Prochnow made an appearance in after Das Boot. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Does the link relate to the original full 1981 German version with English sub-titles?

The information in the link is not clear or maybe I'm missing something...?

So does your first link of your 3 links allow me to buy the full version in German with English subtitles? When I say full version I assume it to be the full mini-series.

Sorry if I appear to be a bit dim but it's been a long day..
