The IL-2 series has options to disable torque, wind flutter and other effects on aircraft performance and stability. I'd suggest adding trim to that list; it's a concept I was completely unfamiliar with until I started playing this game and it took me quite a while to figure out that that's why my aircraft kept trying to twist even though I had torque effects disabled.

I think it's a source of frustration to many new pilots, like those looking for an arcade experience. If they could switch it off when they learn to fly, or for their solo singleplayer campaigns, it would give the game more mass-appeal IMO.

Janes had auto-trim "on" and "off"

i actually only bother with trim for cruising/long distance flight

maybe if a company made trim wheels that could be suction cupped to a floor next to my chair...

Better idea is good instruction manual and historical relevant Flyable basic and advanced trainer aircraft for the sim Newbies -- something the bitter Old Timer simmers would keep enjoying too. Immersive trainer missions or even trainer camapaigns (static or dynamic) can be made. None of these combat flight sim developers had the idea of Flyable trainers -- They just never thought of this. And they wonder how they got themselves stuck in Niche Status. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Like your average newbie flightsimmer is actually going to try the trainers first, your being a bit optimistic there. They'd be great for your more experianced flightsimmers though who just like flying the aircraft. Love to tour Southern England in a tigermoth.
