I was looking at link on that NPC thread posted by sweetlou280 entitled "AC Crowd Member" and was reading the post by LFoxMJL: [Quote]"Incredible detail, games are getting so realistic. In another 10 or 20 years they might be as realistic looking as life."[UQuote]

It reminded me of something Jade said in an interview, (previously posted thread, can't remember witch) she said that in the videogaming industry we are about as advanced as the time they just started to bring sound (or color, can't remember) into movies.... and i thought what more could we get out of a game than we can come to expect in the near future?

I just thought to make this thread because i can't imagine (comparing the film industry) what new wonders await in video/computer game future... Discuss http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Do you mean in-game? The only "Real" thing i remembered on a game was NFS: MW.. They had filmed the cut-scenes, and then "gamed" it a little..

This pic, is from one of the cutscenes in the game:

lol, the dreaded interactive movie games, all the rage years ago when CD drives first became available for home computers.

The only cool interactive movies(games) I played back in the day were Gabriel Knight II: The Beat Within and Phantasmagoria...everything else to me sucked monkey scrotum.

Phantasmagoria is still, to me, one of the greatest games of all time.

We are never going to have graphics that real. It already costs sometimes close to 20 million per game. It will be too expensive to make games look much more real. Unless they come out with a completely new way of making games.

it really is hard to say, its just like saying "what will be invented the next 10-20 yrs" we dont know... but what we do know is that its gonna be amazing...and Warrior-within2 you shouldnt say stuff like that, nothing is impossible, its just not done yet... i mean go 100 years back from now and tell them that millions of ppl are comunicating with other people anywhere in the world no matter where either of them are (cellphones if u didnt get it) or go 20 yrs back and try to convince someone that games like AC is going to exist.... nope... not gonna happen.... they gonna fry you and eat you alive thats whats gonna happen... people might say we have reached our peak of gaming but thats bull****.... i want to know though.... is that really what we want? im not saying anything for sure here, but maybe it wouldnt look that cool anymore, i dont know till ive tried, but just the thought of playing games with real humans instead of the animated ones... i dunno... lets let time show.... allso.... bunnies rulez!... exept the pink ones, theyre ewul!

I never said it wasn't possible, I said it won't happen because of how expensive it will be to make games that real.

but how do we know if its going to be that much more expensive? just look at history, things get cheaper, we find more efficient ways to create things... just look at the indian slave long long ago... "ok you slave, go over there and pick that cotton" an the indian slave goes "no... i cant do it... i hurt my back... let me tell you what we will do, yooo pick the cotton... .and iii get the t-shirts made.... and togetheeer... we can wholesale it" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif That quote was irrelevant http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Anyways polygons are polygons and rendering them will always cost the same. That's why I said we won't get that real unless we find new ways to make games.

Quotes are never irrelevant as long as theyre funneh... just as the yellow rainbows are just as great as multicolored.... seriously tho... are i totaly off or isnt it the workers that costs money... not the polygons? O.o

It's complicated but yes the polygons do cost money. Or rather the amount of time it takes to detail the model animate it and render it costs money. If the model has less polygons and less details to work with then the production goes a lot faster. That's the best way I can explain it in laments terms.

in israel we had a gaming conffrence of sorts,

and the topic as it may was gameing and art...

they had brought up the fact that we shoulden't compare the gaming industry with the movie one because we shoulde wan't it to be diffrent...

let me expalin...

the movie industry had the technolagy for sound and color, yet, they did not implament it into the industry right away for some reason, one of them beeing that some actors that looked good and perfomed good with out sound, sounded awefell and well... the industry hit a wall for a whaill as they said in said convention...

in any case the point is that we should not comapr our selves to the movie industry but try to excell over it...

and push forwords and pay even more for computer game as long as they are with quality and made by the most Edvanst(miss spell...) technolagy of the moment...

some industrys in the gameing world, sadly, do squeles even when they shoulden't do them... or even (more horrablly) trying to copy directlly the movie industry (spider-man,E.T.C)

and we should strive above that... and do something new...

AC is something like that i hope...

the futuristic element was kinda annoying to me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif pitty...

is seems they had bent to the will of some what of a matrix element, ignoreing what they had in the first place (or maby it was something they had all along... hope not...)

maby they can still change it...

i, will buy the game never the less...

Thats what i meant, so... all we need to perfect the gaming industry is time and money.... the two most accessible resources on earth.... XD yea right... well as i allready said, i still believe i want it to stay about, maybe abit better than it is now
