"Hi Hanna, hows things in your part of the world"

01-13-2005, 07:04 AM

Welcome Tiella - may I introduce to you, the automated server called affectionately "Floyd". My husband designed him in his robotics course. He pours a mean cup of coffee http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

01-13-2005, 08:07 AM
No donuts for me thanks. But do you serve shortz?

01-13-2005, 08:31 AM
Would that be Eat My Shortz cereal, sir? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

01-13-2005, 08:32 AM
No, I'd like to Eat_Some_Shortz if you don't mind.

01-13-2005, 09:43 AM
Hello there RaPhil! It is well in my part of the world. Sorry I was absent minded, but I had to attent a meeting from my work. Just linked back in this body. And how is life in your part of the world? As hot as showed on TV?
Can I offer you another latte and Tiella, nice to meet you, want another cup of that too?
Oy, Floyd, another round for the shoppe, take some oil yourself and may, those doughnuts look tempting!
Sorry for the noise, but attending meetings puts me in social mode 3. Need some time to fall back to usual lurking mode 1.

Don´t want to appear too touchy, but.... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
Floyd, he is looking great, a nice robot, but are you sure it´s really coffee what he is pouring?? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

And could you tell me please what "latte" is. I won´t tell you my assoziation if it would be a german word.
I assume you are offering milk to me or milk deluted with a bit of coffee???
Oh please, no espresso here? Or at least a cappuccino?? I would like to stay a little bit longer, seems to be interesting here, but without a good dose of coffein....

01-13-2005, 04:21 PM
I will just sit over here in the corner with my laptop. There are a lot of things to keep track of now!

May I have a grande skinny latte and whole wheat doughnut please?

01-13-2005, 04:40 PM
Well Floyd, do you have Tim-Tams here? I know this is a Canadian shoppe, but have you by any chance imported any?? If you havent, I may just have some in my pocket!!

01-16-2005, 06:56 AM
I found some here. (http://www.greataussiefood.com.au/)

Anyways, I'll just have a hot chocolate and a plain bagel.

01-16-2005, 08:27 AM

"Oh Floyd? I'll have a boston creme please, thank you and a large cafe mocha with extra, extra, extra whipped cream and even more chocolate sprinkles." http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

01-16-2005, 08:29 AM
Grizz comes in. Looks the place over. Nice decor. Smells the doughnuts. Thinks maybe Iowa was once a part of Canada. lol That's the way doughnut was spelled in Iowa where he grew up.

Takes a seat at the bar.

"Hi Toria. How about a large, black coffee and a couple of those doughnuts with the chocolate frosting?" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

01-16-2005, 06:52 PM
New place in town!! Good!

"I will have my usual breakfast, cold beer!!"

"Too early?"

"Well, OK. A cup of black coffee and bagel with cream cheese, please."

Oh thats good....the ones in my pocket were a bit melted. Next time I will leave them in the packet.

BUT, TimTams are great for using as straws with coffee or milo, and that melts them too....mmmmmmmmm!!!

01-17-2005, 09:35 AM
http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gifMMmmm, those look so good T.O.O.O.!!! Thanks for the links to the Aussie foods. Even though I've never been there http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif hee hee...Glad to see Floyd is doing his excellent job of "roboting" the coffee to y'all hee hee. I'm having my Earl Grey tea and a lovely maple cream doughnut. MMMMM, melt in your mouth goodness indeed.

01-19-2005, 12:01 AM
Hiiiiii ToriaUru! *waves*

Chocolate doughnut for me, please. And do you serve milk? Neko's thirsty. *Neko looks up and meows pleadingly*

01-19-2005, 03:10 AM
Don't worry Tora - Floyd will serve you whenever Toria is not around.....but be warned, Neko may be a bit scared of the shiny robot serving his(?) milk!!

01-19-2005, 05:32 PM
Would putting an apron the robot help? How about a smock?

01-19-2005, 06:30 PM
A robot waiter named Floyd eh? Well, I'll have to keep Neko off the floor where she won't accidently get stepped on then. * Neko looks put out at having Tora pick her up yet again.*

01-20-2005, 04:55 AM
HannaGertie wanders in again, followed by two shy cats. Hm, scratsh that, one shy tom and one bold feline, meowing "my place! oh and a friend! I am Dot and that is Speedy, what's yours?"
HG sits down and ask Floyd with a sigh "Coffee please and a mini cheese pizza and milk for those 3. oh and some earplugs"
"Hi Tora, thought I'd take my cats out for the day, whew they're like toddlers, can't leave them alone for a mo! And the voices! Hope Neko has some tips for them how to deal with the street.
And how are you today?"

01-21-2005, 01:46 PM
"hiya Hanna!" as I bend down and rub the kitties heads. PPPPPRRRRRR they go and they rub against me. "Mmmm, I'm having a nice Chai tea with steamed milk right now and a bran muffin". No doughnuts today, TOO fattening LOL http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

01-21-2005, 02:21 PM
Cathyk wanders in and takes a seat at the bar. She waves hello to fellow forumites gathered there and then turns to Floyd.

"A lait russe please Floyd, and a couple of Tim Tams as well."

She pulls out a laptop and logs on - having been away for the better part of two months holidaying with mother, sisters and nephew, she has a lot of catching up to do. Scanning the news items quickly, she lets out a squeak of surprise.

"Myst V! What wonderful news!" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

"The moments of happiness we enjoy take us by surprise. It is not that we seize them, but that they seize us." Ashley Montagu

01-21-2005, 03:38 PM
Hi Cathyk, WB, good to see you survived the family age. It's sure great news about Myst V, but if you read futher you'll see there's even more down the pipeline! I wish falll would change place with spring this year http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Toria, that tea sounds great and the bran muffin especcially. aww, Toria don't be allarmed, Speedy chewing on your thumb means he likes you! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif little devil that he is. see, he's turning his tummy to be rubbed.
Cathyk, watch out, Dot is going to jump on your lap! ah settled, need bandages?. (OT: my cats are adorable, but like a rose they have thorns http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif)

01-21-2005, 07:00 PM
Hi Hanna! *Toara waves* Wow your cats are adorable! *Neko goes over to make friends, Tora decides to join the group too* You now, I was thinking about setting up an acadamy for my psychos-in-training across the street from here, but that would just mean bad business for Toria. Oh well, she got here first and has the claim. Maybe they'll set up another forum and I'll have my chance.

01-22-2005, 02:53 AM
Hi Tora, why not set up class in the shoppe? That way students will have ample coffee to enjoy class with and Toria will have extra income. What do psychos study? I might be interested, I like to study.
Neko is adorabble too, look how they enjoy and play.

01-22-2005, 05:44 AM
ROTFLMAO @ Hanna and Tora http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif
Welcome Cathy and whoever wanders in. Yes, well couldn't resist a doughnut shop see as I'm Canadian and all that. The Eder Negilahn Doughnut Shop LOL with faux Starbucks coffee LOL... hee hee. Having a good chuckle today http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

01-22-2005, 08:02 AM
Good that you have chuckle day! Goes well with My chocolate day!(choc muffin is yummy)
While Starbucks type coffee is great, will you be able to serve Grizz's special coffees too?

btw IMHO all coffeelovers should play Deus ex 2, it's got a nice coffee shoppe war, with an evil twist http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v292/HannaGertie/Smileys/thcoffee2.gif

01-22-2005, 08:45 AM
As Dot settles on Cathyk's lap, Cathyk begins to sneeze, alarming Dot sufficiently that she jumps off Cathyk's lap and heads off to find another, more welcoming, lap.

"Ah-choo! Sorry Dot, sorry HannaGertie - I'm allergic to cats." She rummages around in her a bag for an antihistamine. "Rather annoying really as I do like cats - except when they go after the birds in my garden.

"This is wonderful news on Myst 5 - the screenshots look great. Out in fall - I'll definitely be finished Myst IV by then. Before visiting the family age, I had completed Spire and Haven and a lot of Serenia. Then a system crash required a re-install and I've had to start all over again.

"Toria, nice coffee shop - I like nice coffee shops, particularly independent ones. If you've not settled on a name for it yet, may I suggest The Coffee Shop at the End of Ages? I know it's borrowing from Douglas Adams, but see what you think."

Swallowing her anti-histamine, she returns to her laptop for more news.

"Cats are inquisitive, but they hate to admit it." Mason Cooley

01-25-2005, 08:17 PM
Dot jumped into TOOO's lap and began purring. And shedding. "Thanks a lot, cat," he said, dripping with irony. But he could never resist a purring cat.

01-26-2005, 01:46 PM
Dot is very happy that T.O.O.O. thanks her for delivering her hairs. She has lots more for him. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif But she is even more haqppy to purr for him and keep him company. But she remmbers to say sorry to Cathyk for making her sneeze! She wished those medcines would work on her skinflakes and thus give her the opportunity to meet freely with all people on the Forums.

Speedy on the other hand likes to keep his hairs to him self, and is sitting with Neko at the shoppe's windows, enjoying a view he nevers sees at home and commenting all people out side/
(OT: feel free to fill in their conversation http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

Hanna is enjoying another coffee speciality from one of the many ages: Klah. It tastes great! She is busy reading a studybook Environmental Managementsystem for Communal Ages. If one listens carefully one can hear her say into her klah: is there a dummies version of this book?

01-28-2005, 04:17 PM
"No data found," said the coffee.

Hanna looked puzzled, then looked up and saw TOOO standing over her. "Smart Aleck. Jade warned me about you," she said.

"I've heard of reading tea leaves, but coffee grounds?"

Mystical Explorer
01-30-2005, 01:47 PM
*Mystical Explorer wonders in, seeing the delightful looking new place*

Ooooh! Doughnuts! I'll have a cream doughnut and a latte please http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

*sees the cats*

*thinks they're cute* http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

01-31-2005, 07:10 AM
In comes Mowog, followed by "The Cat," resident sweetheart and absorber of affection... found as a stray and taken into the household, where she adopted us instantly and has yet to complain about anything. Except being picked up. Don't pick up "The Cat!"

Ah well, even when The Cat wanders away to pursue her own interests, Mowog takes comfort in a nice mug of 100% Colombian coffee. The Cat isn't the only thing in the house that's warm and comforting!

01-31-2005, 07:01 PM
TOOO finally put the squirming Dot on the floor, and Dot (and Speedy) immediately went over to sniff out the newcomer, as cats are wont to do. The three felines sniffed each other out.

"I wonder what would happen if humans did that?" he said.

02-01-2005, 03:25 PM
HG looks up and says: "we would sneeze from the dust on our clothes and become only subconscious(sp?) aware of the other parties pheromones. I'd rather trust my conscious nose for coffee, Floyd can I have a refill please? oh and a doughnut."
In the mean time Neko was still sitting at the window and called out to the other cats:"Come look at those silly humans fighting against the snow! Don't they know you can play with it?"

02-04-2005, 12:26 PM
Cathyk enters seeming a little down. Taking a seat, she says to Floyd:

"Floyd, I need something a bit stronger than a Lait Russe today. How about an Irish coffee but with acorn mead instead of whisky? I finished Myst IV last night which I hadn't expected to do - the ending comes upon one rather abruptly."

She sits turning the pages of her journal somewhat diffidently and sighs.

"Myst V can't come quickly enough."

"Life is not so much about beginnings and endings as it is about going on and on and on. It is about muddling through the middle." Anna Quindlen

02-05-2005, 04:09 AM
Toria settles down for a chat with CathyK. "Sorry that you found Myst IV ended a bit abruptly dear". The cats are winding around her ankles, looking for a pat. Dot and Speedy both got picked up and cuddled. "I love cats but they make me sneeze" *Achoo!*

02-05-2005, 01:21 PM
"Aaachoo!" Cathyk sneezed. "Ah, Dot, Speedy, why do I have to be allergic to cats?"

She stroked their fur contemplatively and mused.

"Toria, the end of Myst IV left me feeling, not just sad, but also that there was a great deal left to be done. Questions still to be answered, ages still to be restored. But then I suppose life is like that - we can seek for answers and sometimes never find them. Time moves us on and our priorities change."

Then she sneezed again.

"Aachoo!" She sniffled and went on. "And sometimes cats remind us that we have to move on." She went digging in her backpack for an anti-histamine.

"Now life is the only art that we are required to practice without preparation, and without being allowed the preliminary trials, the failures and botches, that are essential for the training of a mere beginner." Lewis Mumford (1895-1990)

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/353.gif Please let me know if you think I should take this topic to the Myst IV forum.

02-06-2005, 08:24 PM
Feeling rejected by Cathyk, Dot returned to TOOO, sat at his feet and asked the Musical Question, "Meow?"

"Um, 42?" he replied.

Dot cocked her head, puzzled. Humans are such a strange bunch. She heard Cathyk calling for her, and returned back to her lap and sneezing.

02-15-2005, 06:19 PM
The Doughnut Shoppe was as quiet as a tomb. Crickets could be heard outside chirping. Soon, frogs would join in, croaking.

It was so quiet and peaceful, that several of its denizens began to snore.

Then something happened.

Nope, sorry, false alarm. Nothing happened.

02-16-2005, 06:09 AM
Jade ran in and yelled, "It's raining donuts!!!!!!"

TOOO jumped up and ran outside.

Jade stole his creme-filled, chocolate donut and slid into a booth to enjoy it.

"Aahhh...works everytime."

02-16-2005, 06:31 PM
Hmmmf. thought TOOO. Well, at least she didn't get my (ubiquitous) hot cocoa. And there are plenty of other do nots--- er, doughnuts available....

02-16-2005, 06:54 PM
Jade had just put the last bite of the creme-filled donut in her mouth, when she saw Toria standing in front of her, hands on her hips and tapping her foot on the floor. "Did you pay for that, young lady?" She asked.

"Mupr phjwm ohge." Jade tried to say around the last bite.

Toria handed her a napkin and pointed to the corner of her mouth. "You have some creme there...ah, there you got it. Now what did you say?"

"Put it on TOOO's tab." Jade smiled sweetly.

02-16-2005, 07:00 PM
Grizz ran in, and there were wet stains on his shoulders and hair.

"It's pouring! Just pouring, and it looks and tastes like hot chocolate!"

TOOO, still a tad gullible, runs to the window to see this miracle. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Grizz slips his cup of hot chocolate off his table, and sits at the bar with it.

"Ummm.... Toria? I think TOOO is going to need another cup. Something seems to have happened to the other one." http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

02-16-2005, 07:04 PM
http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif "Pssst...Toria, you can put that on TOOO's tab...erm...too." http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

02-17-2005, 05:47 AM
"But TOOO doesn't need a tab!" Toria explained. "Since he was one of the first customers in here, he's won a lifetime of free doughnuts and cocoa! Didn't any of you see the banner?"

02-17-2005, 08:29 AM

"No, I missed that." She put her chin in her hand and http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif at TOOO. "If I had known, I would have been here sooner!"

02-17-2005, 03:11 PM
http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/353.gif Actually, that wasn't quite the response I had expected, but maybe I can still make this work... /ot

In a puff of flour, a woman appeared - but not just any woman. For one thing, she resembled Carol Kane (http://www.open.org/~glennab/carolkanefanpage.htm), for some strange reason, and had gossamer dragonfly wings protruding from her back. Her hair was the color of honey glaze, her eyes resembled chocolate chips, and her gown and slippers shimmered like vanilla icing. Her whole body had an aura that resembled airborne powdered sugar.

(Stop drooling, guys!)

"Who are you?" TOOO asked, astonished.

"I am the Doughnut Fairy!" she announced.

"Rrrrrrrrright...," TOOO replied.

Ignoring his skepticism, she continued, "I am one of many sprites that inhabit this place. Perhaps you will meet them in due course."

"What do you want of us?" Jade asked.

"My siblings and I will keep this place fully stocked of all pastries and drinks," she told her, "but in return for a favor at a later date."

"What favor?" TOOO asked. "When?"

"Soon," she answered, and vanished in a puff of candy sprinkles.

02-17-2005, 08:07 PM
"Well that can't be good." Jade said dryly.

"Why do you say that?" asked TOOO while shoveling yet another donut into his mouth.

"I happen to know a few sprites and they are never up to any good...erm...trust me." http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

02-17-2005, 11:11 PM
Cat's cruiser picks up a familiar looking reading on it's radar. But no... it couldn't be! Apparently Jade was in charge of more than one bar! Making a note of this for future reference, he crouched up in his chair and got settled for a nice long nap. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

02-18-2005, 06:47 AM
http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/353.gif Actually, this is Toria's place. hehehe She beat Jade to it for once, though Jade was thinking of starting a franchise chain. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Grizz looked up from his stolen hot chocolate.

"I'd know that 'trust me' anywhere. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif Talk about something that can't be good! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif I heard it the first time when Jade inveigled me into drinking acorn mead and topping it off with Irish coffee! I woke up under the table over at the A & C hotel!" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

02-18-2005, 08:59 PM
TOOO, meantime, was trying to figure out how the bagel he ordered had turned into a doughnut....

#$@%!! fairies!!

02-19-2005, 11:09 AM
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Suddenly, Tianna popped into view and landed on TOOO's left shoulder. He slanted his eyes left as far as he could and said, "Uh oh."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "What was that you were saying about fairies? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

02-19-2005, 12:44 PM
"Oh, hello, Tianna," he said, quickly, knowing full well it wouldn't mollify her. And it didn't. She was still scowling, arms folded, foot tapping.

"I meant the local fairies," he continued, "the ones who switched my bagel for a doughnut. Wait a second - I never said that aloud! You're not invading peoples' thoughts, now are you?"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna suddenly found looking at the ceiling a bit more interesting, as she turned a bit red. But she quickly regained her composure. "Local fairies?"

"Yeah, but they're full-sized around here," he continued. "We've only met the Doughnut Fairy, so far."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif She craned her neck to look him in the eye. "The WHAT?"

02-19-2005, 07:12 PM
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "...full sized fairy?" Tianna plopped on TOOO's shoulder, and crossed her legs Indian style, resting her elbow on her knee with her chin in her hand. She was momentarily distracted from her original intent, which was to banish TOOO to the Bog of Eternal Stench. She puzzled, and puzzled, for so long that TOOO thought perhaps she had fallen asleep.

He walked over to Jade, and asked, "Do you have a hand mirror in your purse I might borrow?"

Jade nodded, rummaged in her purse, and handed one to him. He thanked her, and then held the mirror up so he could see what Tianna was doing.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna perked up, and said, "What!" TOOO asked hesitantly, "Is there a problem?" Tianna nodded her little head. "You bet there is!" She stood up, and stamped her little foot. "There are no such things as full-sized fairies!" Then Tianna, being a very superstitious fairy, whispered in TOOO's ear, "We have an imposter on our hands."

02-20-2005, 08:32 AM
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif With chin in hand, the little fairy thoughtfully tapped her jawline. "And I think I know who it is." Clutching her fists at her side, she bellowed:

Even TOOO was surprised at how such a tiny fairy could have such a loud rafter-ringing voice.

In a puff of flour, the Doughnut Fairy appeared. She looked down upon the diminutive sprite on TOOO's shoulder, who was turning a not-so-lovely shade of deep red.

"Oh," said Lillian. "It's you."

"You two know each other?" TOOO asked.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "Yes," Tianna fumed. "She's a not-too-distant cousin of mine, who knows she's not supposed to be here! Let alone at human size!"

"Oh, little cousin," Lillian replied. "You simply don't know how to have fun." And she sprinkled powdered sugar over Tianna. And giggled.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna angrily shook off the confection. "Lillian!!"

"Oh, are you going to sentence me to the Bog of Eternal Stench, now?" Lillian smiled. "You know that won't work on me." Seeing that Tianna wasn't about to give in, Lillian rolled her eyes. "Oh, all right."

In a puff of candy sprinkles, she vanished, and reappeared (sans flour) at Tianna's side and size. She spread her arms. "Happy now?"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "Are The Others here?" Tianna asked.

Lillian sighed. "Yes, we're all here. Where else were we to go after the Banishment?"

"The Banishment?" asked TOOO. Tired of craning his neck and holding the mirror up (people were beginning to stare), he offered his hand out to the two diminutive fairies and they climbed into it and then he placed them on the counter in front of him.

Before Lillian could elaborate, Dot noticed the small fairies on the bar and thought they looked like fun cat toys and hunkered down, preparing to pounce. Grizz called out a warning and TOOO managed to scoop her up into his arms before she caused any damage. Tianna narrowed her eyes at the cat, but TOOO shook his head. "She's friendly, really. Besides that, she belongs to HannaGertie." Tianna, being a forgiving fairy (and being fond of HG) decides to leave the cat alone...for now.

"Now..." he placed the cat on the floor where it scampered off to find HG. "What were you saying about the Banishment?"

02-21-2005, 03:00 AM
Upon hearing that the first customers had received free doughnuts and cocoa, Ra'Phil rushed back in the door.

"Hey, as the second customer in here, (first was Hanna) I would like my freebies" Ra'Phil sat down to wait.

02-21-2005, 06:21 AM
In a puff of steam, another fairy appeared on the bar. His hair was the color of mocha, his skin the color of Arabica beans. His shirt was green, his pants and shoes black. An aroma of the finest ground roast surrounded him. But he was only fairy size, not human size.

"The Coffee Fairy?" TOOO ventured.

He gave TOOO a quick glance, then turned to Lillian. "What's she doing here, Lillian?"

Lillian crossed her arms in disgust. "Oh, shut up, Raphael. It's over. Go and tell the others." She bit her lip, and a tear escaped her eye.

"Um, any chance I could get a straight answer, here?" TOOO asked. "What were you banished for? What did you do?"

"We don't tell our secrets to Outsiders," Raphael told him.

"Raphael," Lillian admonished him.

"Look," TOOO said, "I don't understand why you can't stay here. I mean, we've all seen stranger things. What's a troop of fairies compared to dragons and sorcerers and whatnot?"

"That's exactly why they were banished," Tianna explained. "Do you know the story of The Cottingley Fairies (http://www.lhup.edu/~dsimanek/cooper.htm)?"

02-21-2005, 11:18 AM
After Tianna told TOOO the story of the Cottingley Fairies, he nodded in understanding. €œSo the fairies were banished for allowing themselves to be photographed.€ He thought a moment and then said with considerable puzzlement, €œEven though it was later proven that it was a hoax?!€

€œIt wasn€t just the photographs, Outsider.€ Raphael grumbled as he was having serious caffeine withdrawal (plus he was just a really grumpy fairy.)

TOOO raised his eyebrows and motioned with his hand. €œCare to elaborate?€

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna put her tiny hand around TOOO€s thumb to get his attention. €œThose young girls in that story€¦they were the fairies. They made themselves large so they could live among the humans for a time.€ TOOO still looked confused and Tianna said patiently, €œSeveral fairies traded places with humans although it is strictly forbidden. Look here€¦€ Tianna waved her tiny hand and a picture (http://www.cottingley.net/images/cf3_lrg.jpg) appeared in TOOO€s hand. €œThat girl is a fairy; the fairy is the human child! When this picture was published, the fairy posing as a human was recognized by€¦€

€œTianna!!€ Raphael snapped. €œEnough.€ He glared at TOOO as he studied the picture and then narrowed his eyes at Tianna, €œGo back where you came from. You are not welcome here.€

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif €œActually, we are welcomed everywhere now.€ Tianna straightened her shoulders proudly. €œWe no longer need to hide from€¦€

Raphael grabbed Tianna by the arm, hard. €œIf you say his name out loud I will send you to the Bog myself and you know I can do it.€

Grizz was listening and watching patiently, but when he saw Raphael grab Tianna he stood abruptly. TOOO waved him down, €œI got this.€ He picked Raphael up by the neck of his shirt and shook him slightly until he let Tianna go. €œNo need for that, my diminutive friend.€ He held the picture up and turned it around so others could see it. €œThis young girl looks very familiar. Who is it?€

Lillian raised her hand.

02-23-2005, 05:06 AM
Grizz sat musing over the story of the Cottingley fairies, lost to the world. He'd seen those pictures before, but never suspected that the fairies might have changed places with the human children. He'd love to hear how the human children felt about their short times as fairies, and how they could even bear to return to the human form.

He also wondered why Raphael was so grumpy! He suspected it might have something to do with those little fairy shoes he wore. Grizz thought they looked a tad tight. He was betting that if Raphael took them off, they'd all see tiny little hammer toes, and probably corns too! That'd make anyone grumpy. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

02-23-2005, 12:49 PM
TOOO, on the other hand, assumed it was because coffee is usually served hot. (Geddit?)

02-23-2005, 07:09 PM
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna rubbed her arm where the coffee fairy had grabbed her, glaring daggers at him. She thought it was very sweet of TOOO to step in and protect her from the over-caffeinated fairy, but she had been worried also. Raphael was a powerful fairy and somewhat of a loose cannon. Thankfully, she had been able to put a protection spell around TOOO before Raphael had been able to send him to the Bog or anywhere else for that matter. She flew up and landed on TOOO's shoulder, sticking her tongue out at Raphael. "You need to switch to decaf!"

"You need to keep your mouth shut and not divulge things that don't concern these outsiders."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "You're just jealous because I'm free to go wherever I please!"

"You are tempting me to send you..."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "Yes...yes...we've heard that line before. I don't suppose you have something fresh and new to offer?" Tianna, being a proud little fairy, refused to back down.

Lillian finally stepped in and said with a heavy sigh, "Will you two stop with the bickering...please!!" She put her hands on her hips and glared at them both. "You should be ashamed of yourselves...fighting like this for all to see. This is a time for us to unite!" She lowered her voice so only the fairies and those sitting close by could hear her. "You see...he's returned." She looked around the doughdut shoppe, at the unsuspecting customers and lowered her voice even more. "The one we do not dare to mention...he is on his way here."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "No! Not him!!" Tianna cringed and then dove into TOOO's front shirt pocket.

Raphael snorted, "Yes, him." He paced up and down the counter top. "He banished us all those years ago, but as you can see we didn't go very far. He's coming back to finish the job. THAT'S why we've been in hiding! Foolish fairy!" He directed that last jibe at Tianna.

TOOO could feel Tianna trembling and he pulled his front pocket back to look inside. "This doesn't sound like a good thing, does it?"

Tianna shook her head miserably.

"Hmmm..." TOOO looked at Toria, Grizz, Ra'phil, HG, Jade and the others and said, "What we need is a plan."

02-23-2005, 08:27 PM
He sighed. "First of all, we need to collect all the other fairies. How many of you are there, altogether?"

"Fifteen," Lillian told him.

TOOO nodded. "You'll need to bring the rest out here."

She nodded, sadly. She looked up to call, but the other fairies were slowly coming out of the woodwork, while others appeared out of the air, all looking nervous and apprehensive.

02-24-2005, 06:18 AM
Grizz looked at Tianna; then he looked at Jade. Jade looked at Grizz; then she looked at Tianna.
They were both thinking, <span class="ev_code_BLUE">*this can't be good!*</span>

Grizz looked back at Tianna.

"Ok. We need more information. Tianna, we don't know whe he is, but you all seem very nervous about him coming here. Tell us please, just what he can do, and what you think he will do."

02-24-2005, 04:08 PM
HG had put down her studybook when Dot came complaining that the mice around here had wings and would not stay put. HG picked Dot up and explained: they arent'mice, but faeries. They usually are friendly and playfull, but not pouncable! atleast not with drawn nails. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
But listen, they seem afraid of someone. Well, Dot, if the faeries are afraid of someone, that can't be a good person. So let's listen who they mean and if 'he's as bad as i think, you may pounce on him and scratch him like you did the vet last year. But be carefull and if danger seems near run away and call for help.
Now let's listen and then see if we can help.

02-25-2005, 05:09 AM
"Well Tianna?" TOOO peeked into his pocket. "Are you going to tell us what we're up against here?"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna sat comfortably in the bottom of TOOO's shirt pocket, loathe to leave there. Finally she stood up and looked out over the edge at the gathering of fairies on the counter. She looked up at TOOO and nodded her head. He put his hand out and she climbed into it, then he placed her gently on the counter. Without preamble she told the story, "There once was a powerful fairy. You might say he was the most powerful of us all, but he was different in more ways than that. He was evil. It was as if he was born with no conscience whatsoever. He delighted in cruelty." She shivered. "When he discovered that it was possible to trade places with humans, he did the same himself. The problem was, the person he chose to trade places with was even more evil than he, plus he was...he is...a warlock. Then something with that magic spell went terribly wrong. Instead of trading places, the warlock and the fairy merged into one being...becoming an even more powerful being. When the fairy realized he could no longer transform himself into a fairy and was stuck in his human persona, he became enraged against the fairies. Not only that, it is a well known fact that witches and warlocks are enemies of the fairies. They hate us because we can just wish something into being and it will happen, whereas they have to mix potions and learn spells. So the warlock side of this new being was also enraged against the fairies." Here Tianna paused, taking a deep breath. "This new being...this man/warlock/fairy creature created a spell to banish these fairies." She gestured to the fairies standing around, some looking concerned, others ready and willing for a fight. "It was meant to send them into oblivion, but they ended up here instead." She looked around the room at her friends and sighed, "It will be dangerous to be sure. What can we do?" Then Tianna, being a loyal fairy, stood with the other fairy folk gathered and directed her inquiry towards the humans in the shop.

02-26-2005, 07:06 AM
Grizz sat for a moment, thinking hard. Then he crooked a finger at Tianna, and she flew to his shoulder.

"Tianna, I've watched you work, and I've never seen you actually work magic with another fairy. Is that impossible, or is it just that you like working alone? If it's possible for you to work together, cooperate sort of, why couldn't your combined powers be as strong as this warlock's power?"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna's tiny mouth dropped open, then shut with a snap. "Work together? Well, it might be possible, but it would have to be for something really important, and all the fairies in the group would have to cooperate fully. If even one of them wasn't really with the group, the whole group would fall apart." Then she whispered into Grizz's ear. "And I would really have trouble working with Raphael. He is so overbearing and so, so, so....."

"Male?" Grizz suggested gently.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "Yes! So male! He feels like he has to be in control of everything all the time. Pfffft!"

"Well," Grizz said quietly for her ears only, "if you could somehow make that work, I really think that together you would have no need to fear that warlock."

02-27-2005, 02:14 PM
Lillian alighted on Grizz' shoulder. "Just be glad you haven't met his brothers, Alphonse - the Espresso (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=espresso) Fairy - and Leonardo - the Latte (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=latte) Fairy."

02-28-2005, 04:14 PM
DS enters the Shoppe, and approaches the counter to order himself a doughtnut and a cofee. He pauses and his jaw drops to see the tiny fairy alighting on peoples shoulders.

"There certainly arn't any people like that where I come from." DS states flatly, then turns to sip his cofee and look out the window, unsure of what more to say.

02-28-2005, 06:15 PM
Welcome DS12. If the fairies are the strangest sight you see in here, consider yourself lucky, or unlucky, whichever way the thing appeals to you. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif And don't you need a donut with that coffee?

02-28-2005, 06:53 PM
"You can simply call me DS," He says. "I never liked the twelve much, as it doesn't stand for anything in paticular. I'm new in town, and I thought I'd stop in here. Its a quaint little place."

Finishing his cofee, DS returns to the counter and purchases a doughnut, and heads out with it, though fully itending to stop in again tommarow, despite being suprised at the strange creatures that frequented it.

03-01-2005, 07:56 AM
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna watched DS leave the shoppe and then whispered, "Maybe we should be very leary of strangers right now. Especially with you know who close by."

"You mean the warlock?" asked Raphael. "Why not just call him by his name? What does it matter now, since we know he will arrive sooner or later."

"What is his name?" asked TOOO.

Lillian looked all around the room and then leaned forward. In a dramatic stage whisper she said, "Kallan."

The other fairies gasped and cowered together in obvious distress.

03-01-2005, 03:48 PM
HG enters the shoppe, today she is alone, Speedy and Dot are not with her. She walks to the counter and oders: "one coffee large, but hold the milk, Speedy is running a fever so I left him at home and Dot wanted to stay with him" *Sigh* "Does anyone here know how to take a tomcat's temperature? At the vet's he was meek as a lamb but at home, I'm afraid he will not be so" After saying this HG sits down at a table and then sees the cowering Faeries.
She for now forgets the catproblem and listens to the Faeries.

03-01-2005, 08:14 PM
Jade slips up behind HannaGertie and says, "I couldn't help but over hear your question about taking the temperature of a tom cat." HG turned in her seat and nodded. "Do you have a suggestion, Jade?"

Jade nodded her head sagely, "Yes. Don't do it."

HG went http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif and said, "That was helpful."

Meanwhile, the fairies were huddled together, discussing different strategies, but they couldn't hear each other over the melee. There was one thing that was obvious, this group needed some direction. Someone who could talk to them and pull them together. Someone who could help them to unite in their efforts to rid themselves of Kallan! Everyone seemed to realize this at the same time which started a chain reaction. Tianna looked at TOOO, TOOO looked at Grizz, Grizz looked at Jade, Jade looked at HannaGertie, HannaGertie looked at Lillian and Lillian looked at Raphael.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "No!" Tianna cried. "Not him!" She stamped her tiny foot in frustration.

03-02-2005, 05:44 AM
Grizz called Tianna to him once more, and talked to her quietly for a long time. Her tiny face looked rebelious at first, then gradually thoughtful, and finally resigned and determined.
She stood on Grizz's shoulder, and drew in a deep breath.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "Fairies!" she yelled, in a surprisingly loud voice. All the fairies present stopped the bickering they were doing, and looked at her in surprise. "Grizz thinks we can join together to fight Kallan. I think so too. That doesn't mean just all of us working individually but at the same time against him. It means that we have to really join. We have to let our powers merge, and channel them into and through one of us. That would make that one as powerful a fairy as the number of fairies in the group that joins. And we have to trust the one fairy at the focal point to do what is required."

There was an instant burst of talking from the fairies. "Absurd... How can that even... Who would be... I don't see... I couldn't do that... I want to be the focus... What! YOu!.... " and on and on, all at once so that no single voice could get out a complete sentence. Grizz shook his head.

"Tianna, this isn't going to work. It doesn't look like you can agree on anything as a group, but I think that's the only way you can fight someone like Kallan."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna looked at Grizz and sighed. She used her strong voice again, and when she had the attention of all the fairies, she spoke, reluctantly but firmly. "Can any one of you think of another way that even sounds possible?" She waited, but got only shrugs and head shaking. "All right then. Let's just try to join and do something simple that none of us could do by ourselves, like maybe levitating the donut shoppe." Tiny mouths dropped open, and there were gasps. Tianna giggled, and then said firmly, "And I think Raphael should be the focus!"

Raphael looked shocked, then a very smug look appeared on his face. That look worried Grizz, but he didn't say anything.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "And just to show how serious I am, I'll be the first to let Rapheal control my power, then the rest of you join in." She stared at Raphael, and concentrated.

Raphael gave a little start, as he felt Tianna's power drain into him. He seemed to grow. Then, one by one, he felt the powers of the others, with Lillian adding hers last. He felt himself bigger than Grizz, and very powerful. His ego, which was much bigger than he was even at the best of times, seemed to swell and swell, and he exulted in the power. A nasty little smile lit his face, and he turned towards Tianna and raised a hand. The power merge shuddered, steadied, then fell apart as each fairy felt that ego's intent. Raphael felt himself shrink and shrink, until he was a tiny single fairy again. But his ego was, for the moment at least, completely deflated. "What happened?" he asked. "I was so powerful for an instant. Why did you all leave?"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "Because of your giant ego! All you could think about was how great you were! That broke the link." She turned to Grizz, a tiny tear rolling down her face. "I don't think this is possible." she said. Grizz whispered to her, and a look of hopeful amazement lit her face. She turned and looked at Lillian, who saw the look, and paled, putting her hands behind her and backing away shyly. "Oh no. Not me! Oh, I don't think I can."

03-03-2005, 05:00 PM
DS enters the shop after a long trek away from the shoppe. He siddles up to the counter and orders himself an expresso, gazes again warily at the farie, though not as surpised as before.
"Hey, its still the best place to get a cup of cofee."

03-05-2005, 07:22 AM
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna approached Lillian and put her arm around her shoulders. "You can do this," she said encouragingly. "I know you can."

Lillian thought about it long and hard and with a resigned sigh, she squared her shoulders and said firmly, "Ok, Fairies...listen up!" The fairies were suddenly silent and Lillian looked at Tianna in surprise.

Meanwhile, DS continued to sip his coffee, thinking what a weird and wacky doughnut shop this was. "Why don't more people know about this place?" He said aloud.

"It's relatively new for one thing," commented HG. "People will find their way here eventually." She poured herself more coffee and then looked at TOOO with a question in her eyes. "More coffee?"

03-05-2005, 09:28 AM
"Actually," TOOO said, "I was hoping for some hot cocoa, instead?"

The minute he said it, he knew it was a mistake. The fairy's hair was marshmallow white, his skin an Aztec (http://coffeetea.about.com/cs/chocolate/a/chochistory.htm) bronze, which went along with his outfit (http://www.museo.org/images-education/aztec-warrior.gif). (Couldn't find a color pic.)

TOOO sighed. "Hello, Cocoa Fairy."

"I am Cacahuatl," the fairy told him. With a dramatic wave of his arm, a mug of steaming cocoa (yes, with marshmallows) appeared before TOOO.

"Thank you, Caca-- caca--- uh, yes, thank you." An Aztec fairy?

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif TOOO! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

The fairies gathered close together while Lillian spoke. "We need to....geez..." She looked back at Jade and shrugged her shoulders, "Sorry, I'm going to use it, I can't help myself." She cleared her throat and said, "Fairies, it's Rally Time!!" (http://www.rallymonkey.com/oldvideo.php)

Somewhere over on the Uru Forums, Chuckles is yelling, "Usurper!!"

03-06-2005, 01:15 PM
Somewhere else in the Uru forums, a blue stork is dancing around to the rally tune she suddenly hears on the Surface...

03-13-2005, 11:44 AM
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna nodded her head, listening closely as Lillian spoke. All it would take is the fairies all cooperating together and they would be able to fight against Kallan. She worried her bottom lip a bit. If it appeared the fairies were uniting, why was she so worried. They needed a trump card...something Kallan wouldn't be expecting. She snapped her tiny fingers together and cried out, "I got it!!" The group turned as one to look at Tianna. Lillian came forward to ask, "What is it, Tianna? Do you have another idea?"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "Not another idea, just a surprise for Kallan when he shows up. IF she will agree to it. I'll be back in a bit." With that, Tianna rose in the air, spun and disappeared in a wink.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/353.gif I discovered about 4 instances in the above post where I indicated Raphael was the "One Who Shall Not Be Named". The correct name should have been Kallan and I think I've changed them all now. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Jahura...I love what you're doing!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Thank you for your assistance!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Seattle, Washington - April 29, 2074

"...to which the anomaly was first detected May 29 of '07 in a sudden fluctuation of the Ogata Matrix which lasted 12.485 seconds and reverted back to normal parameters with the takeover of Tyson-Mistumi by Rajook Kamalisuda and the RAWO corporation. This fluctuation indicated a McWhirter effect of note and for that twelve second window beef in China averaged 3 yuan per pound respectively and then rounded up again to 8 following the fluctuation. Tangentially speaking, Mongolian industry in turn experienced a surge in S&D ratio in the latent 20th in the Urals..."

Rain softly patters down outside the conference room as the droning voice addresses the committee. On the holo screen before him, charts and graphs float by to illustrate the statistical data and the heavily calculated predictions. He places his finger on one of the charts, and it stays put until he lifts his finger from the screen - to which it floats out of view and lines itself up in the ref list to the left of the screen.
He wasn't particularly interested in the price of beef in China. No one in the room was save the speaker. The point of the presentation is a PCE that was identified and submerged and traced back to a Mongolian cowherd in the Bronze Age. As soon as Talbot gets to it, which could take all day.
An small envelope icon with a P on it blinks in the right corner of the holo screen. He touches it and it opens a message that is encrypted for his retinal construct. The message is simple and direct.

The new kid needs help. Details later.

He closes out the message by lifting his finger and it floats to the left and out of sight of the display field. Out of the corner of his eye, about two seats down the long table, he notices Jeffers watching him. He grins ever so slightly and winks at Jeffers. The other man averts his stare and shifts uncomfortably in his seat.
He props an elbow on the arm of his chair and covers his mouth with a loose fist to hide his bemusement.
He turns his attention back to the presentation with labored interest.

He has all the time in the Omniverse.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/353.gif Stay tuned to your regular channel for the regular program; but right now a brief pause to say....

03-15-2005, 05:43 AM
The LED display on the door reassuringly reads LOCKED. He places his thumb on the pad and says to no one in particular, "Gillfits."
The LED goes dark for a moment, then reads ACCEPTED. A ka-chunk is heard and the door opens in front of him.
He hangs his raincoat and fedora on the hatstand next to the door. The motion sensor detects his proximity and closes the door once he moves to a safe distance. As with all humans regardless of type or age in his Age, he follows his instincts to the refrigerator to view the food situation.
There is an envelope addressed to him adhered to the front of the refrigerator with a magnet. He takes the envelope, opens it, and reads the letter (http://mysite.verizon.net/resonxcv/letter/JLetter.htm) contained inside.

He sighs and puts the letter in the sink. He runs water over it until it turns into pulp, and lets it ooze down the drain. He follows it with drain cleaner from under the sink in case it causes a clog in the pipes. The world is not ready for artifacts like this. Every time an Earthling gets a memo from Heaven wars break out.

He grabs a bagel from the bag on the kitchen counter, slices it lengthwise, and lays a piece of jack cheese on top. He puts it in the microwave and sets the timer.
As he waits for the cheese to melt he turns to the monitor on the wall.
"Computer on." he says to the monitor.
The Windows 73 logo appears.
"Search engine. Cottingley Beck."
The monitor shows a list of references, and hyperlinks to the hundreds of pages following.
The microwave dings, announcing his bagel is ready. He takes it out of the oven and into the living room area. Sitting down on the sofa with another monitor on the wall before him, he starts on his research into the matter.

Faries. He mutters to himself, shaking his head.

03-16-2005, 04:38 AM
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna returned from Tecumseh, Michigan and waved to everyone excitedly. "Someone is coming to help us!"

"Great news!"
"How soon, were you told?"
"What shall we do in the meantime?"
"Really? Who exactly?" This last was said with deep sarcasm and disbelief. Raphael, his usual grumpy self, folded his arms across his chest and demanded, "Well?"

<span class="ev_code_GREY">"I don't know exactly."</span>

"What was that, fairy-girl? Speak up!"

<span class="ev_code_PINK">"I don't know exactly."</span>

"Can't hear a thing, Tianna. Come on, either you know or you don't...so who is it?"

"I said I don't know exactly!" She stamped her tiny foot in frustration. "I do know that my friend said someone is coming and I believe her. She is highly trustworthy." Tianna flew over to the bartender and asked for a sweet sassafras tea.

03-16-2005, 06:53 AM
A man wearing a tan fedora, beige slacks, and a green Hawaiian shirt under a white linen sport jacket walks into the shop. He peruses the bagel section while Floyd approaches at the back of the counter. He looks up at the robot momentarily and points at the display.
"May I have one of those poppyseed jobbies with cream cheese on the side? And a large regular coffee." he says to the robot.
Floyd gets the items and Giladrian pays for them out of a beat-up brown leather wallet. He takes the bagel and coffee and sits over at an adjacent booth.
He removes his hat and lays it down on the bench next to him. He has shoulder-length flame-red hair and a thin mustache to match. He slices the bagel in half and spreads a dollop of cream cheese on one of the halves. He takes a healthy bite, and his eyebrows raise in approval.

03-16-2005, 07:02 PM
Lillian flew to Grizz's shoulder, and they chatted quietly for a time. Then Lillian flitted to the center of the room and hovered right under the hanging light fixture. She clapped her tiny hands, and whistled a shrill whistle.

The other fairies stopped talking, and looked at her in surprise.

"Ok. We need to try that merge again. Male fairies, feed your power to Raphael. Raphael, you direct the combined power of the males to me. Female fairies, your focus is Tianna, who will feed the female power to me as well. When you have all joined, and I have the combined strengh of all of us, I'll try to levitate the whole donut shoppe." Lillian took a deep breath. "Ready? Begin!!"

The male fairies one by one fed their power to Raphael. He seemed to grow, but it was merely an illusion, though he did seem to glow, and that was not an illusion. In the same way, Tianna took on a glow with the combined power of the female fairies.

Then Raphael and Tianna fed the combined power to Lillian. Her face took on a look of amazed wonder and delight. Her entire figure seemed to corruscate like a star. Then her face showed intense concentration.

The Donut Shoppe began to vibrate and tremble. All the inhabitants grabbed for any support, but the fairies didn't break the chain, and the entire shoppe began to move and lift and spin slowly around.

As it turned, the strain began to show on Lillian's face, and when it came full circle, it shuddered once, dipped an inch or two, then settled slowly back to rest right where it had been.

Lillian dropped to a table in the middle of the room, her wings drooping. She panted and trembled for a bit. The other fairies found their own places to rest.

The stranger at the bar, who had been unobtrusively observing, nodded slowly, then turned back to his coffee.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/353.gif Anything to oblige, Jade! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif My head is a rather tight community! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

All is quiet again until a creeeeaak could be heard from the back corner of the Shoppe, followed by a loud groooaaann from all four sides.
"Lillian!" shouts Grizz, "Are you sure you put it back exactly as it was before?"
"I'm pretty sure!" Lillian gasps.
"Pretty sure?!" cries Grizz, "If the foundation is an inch off this whole place could collapse!"
"Don't say that!" shouts Toria.

Giladrian looks down at the uneaten half of his poppyseed bagel and concentrates. Using his plastic knife as a wand, he points at the bagel as it slowly lifts a centimeter or so off the table. The shoppe lifts once again into the air. He slowly turns the bagel, and the shoppe likewise turns in the same direction. He gently sets the bagel down, and the shoppe slowly descends onto the ground in its original position, foundation still intact.
Tianna flies over to the red-headed stranger.
"You're the one, aren't you?" she says.
He spreads another dollop of cream cheese on his bagel.
"I don't know." he replies, "I was told you needed help. Looks to me like you have things pretty much under control. If I were a warlock, I'd be running for my life from all of you when you join forces like that."
"Well, you are a wizard, aren't you?"
Giladrian raises his brows at the tiny fairy.
"Who told you that?" he asks.
"Jahura!" replies Tianna, "In...<span class="ev_code_GREY">a....</span><span class="ev_code_BROWN">....dream (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=5941034&m=2601044092&r=7091079192#7091079192).."</span>

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna looked around the room at the earnest faces of all the fairies. "Yes, it would seem we have everything under control, only..." She worried her bottom lip and looked down, poking her toe around at nothing.

"What is it then?" Giladrian asked. "What has you so worried?"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "The One Who's Name Should Not Be Mentioned has no intention of sending any of us to the bog." Tianna shook her head sadly and then shuddered.

"No? What does he plan?"

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "He's going to eat us! Cook us in a pot!! Absorb our powers the only way he knows how!!!" Tianna's small voice rose in hysteria with each declaration. She patted the wizard's hand and being a very frightened fairy asked in a whisper, "You are going to help us, aren't you?"

03-20-2005, 10:40 AM
"Tianna, you have friends in high places." Giladrian replies back in a whisper, "How can I refuse?"

Somewhere in England, Kallan is preparing himself for the coming confrontation.

The slim man closes the book in front of him, and stands from the desk. He walks to the window, his hands clasped behind his back, and gazes out across the sea. His psyche reaching much farther than his actual vision, he smiles a very evil smile. "Giladrian." Is all he says.

04-01-2005, 03:08 AM
"Are you finished with your tea, sir?"
The voice startles him, but he does not jump.
"Yes." he replies gruffly. Without further words, the housekeeper takes the tray with the tea set off of the desk and out of the room.
In the kitchen, she sets down the tray and rinses out the pot. She picks up the porcelain teacup from the tray and looks within at the residue on the bottom.
Conflict. Light and darkness. Five as one. Two as one. One as many.
She runs the teacup under the pump and the portend rinses down the basin into the drain. Outside the window she spies two little girls run by in the direction of the creek. She knew them; they were the photographer's daughter and niece that lived up the lane. It was a beautiful day to be outside, but she worried that they might get dirty where they were going.
Still, that was none of her concern.
She dries off the tea set and places it back in the cabinet.

04-02-2005, 05:48 AM
Back in the donut shoppe, the fairies, who seem unable to talk about anything without fussing among themselves, are discussing their success with the merge of all their powers.

Raphael, with a haughty sneer, suggests that while Lillian might have been the focus, it was no doubt due to his own power that the thing had been accomplished.

Tianna taps her tiny foot, and glares at him, remarking that nothing had happened at all until the female fairies' powers were channeled through her to Lillian.

Lillian merely sighs discontentedly. She does not like confrontations. Suddenly, she sits up, a wide-eyed look of awareness and fear suffusing her face. "He's coming! Kallan is coming! I can feel him!"

04-04-2005, 09:13 PM
The fairies and humans alike become very still.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "He's coming here now?! We aren't ready yet!"

Giladrian wiped his lips with his napkin after taking a final bite of his bagel with cream cheese. He stood and walked to the table where all the fairies had gathered and put out his hand, motioning Tianna to climb on. She does so and he lifts her to eye level. In a firm tone he states, "You are all ready, but..."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "But...but?! There is always a but in there somewhere."

"Stop butting in and let the man finish!" Raphael snapped.

"...but, you all must stop fighting amongst yourselves and cooperate. With your cooperation and my powers we shall defeat Kallan, but ONLY if you all cooperate. Can you do it?" Tianna hung her head and he lifted her tiny chin with the tip of his finger. "Or do you wish to become fairy stew for Kallan?" The color drained from Tianna's face. Giladrian did not wish to be so harsh, it simply wasn't his style. However, this stubborn lot of fairies needed firm guidance at the moment.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "We can do it." Tianna said softly. Then with more conviction, "We can do it!" She looked down at her comrades. "Well? Is it cooperation or fairy stew?"

There was a general consensus that cooperation would be the better of the two choices. What remained to be seen if that would actually happen. Time was short, Kallan would soon arrive.

04-05-2005, 09:22 PM
Kallan stood for an instant more, gazing out the window of his remote retreat. He felt the rush of pleasure in his own power rising like a spring from deep within, and exulted in it. It was time to act.

Deep in his mind and psyche the entitiy that had been the fairy Israphel bided his time. He had realized his own folly almost from the moment that he had joined Kallan, the human warlock. The man had enticed him with promises of power and rule over the fairy world, and his own greed had been his undoing. Now, trapped and made a part of the egotistical warlock's mad scheme, he could only look on in rage and fear for his people. But there might yet come a time.... He sent out a tentative mental probe, testing Kallan's defenses, and felt Kallan casually slap his thought away, like slapping a baby's hand when the child reaches for forbidden candy. It was ever thus, and Israphel was getting mortally weary of his imprisonment.

Kallan stepped to the table which held his scrying stone, and gazed deep into its heart. He became aware of the gathering of fairies in the donut shoppe, and also of Galadrian. He smiled a nasty smile. He was supremely confident that there was not a single fairy that could face him, particularly when he drew on the fairy power of Israphel. Revenge was going to be so very sweet! He gloated over the collection of fairy minds there, feeling a surge of pure unholy glee when he became aware that not only was Raphael there, but he sensed that tiny snip Tianna as well. And he 'heard' Galadrian admonish the fairies that they must cooperate! The thought made him laugh aloud. Fairies? Cooperate? And Galadrian himself would recognize his own mistake just too late to be of any aid to the fairies. He laughed again, louder. The laugh was anything but pleasant! He rubbed his hands with pleasure.

Kallan stepped back, raised his hands to shoulder height at the sides, and levitated to the top of the scrying stone, on which he balanced on the toe of one shoe. Keeping his hands stretched wide, he began to turn slowly on the one toe, rotating on the scrying stone, and picking up speed as he turned. When he was spinning quite fast, so that his hands were nothing but a blur, he raised both of them above his head and clasped them together, increasing his rate of rotation even more. Suddenly, he seemed to become a figure of pure light which sank into the scrying stone, and a ray shot out one side like a violent bolt of lightning. There was a crack, and a rolling of thunder, and he was on his way.

04-05-2005, 10:13 PM
The noise was unmistakable and quite loud. The housekeeper comes into the office and looks around. Seeing the stone lying in the middle of the floor she picks it up and looks deep into its surface.
She could see her sister Evangeline working in the garden in the back of her home. Florentia closes her eyes and concentrates on her sister.

It's started, dear.

She opens her eyes and sees the figure of her twin sister sit up in her garden and remove her gloves.

04-09-2005, 08:44 AM
The fairies gathered together in a circle, clasping hands. They were arranged haphazardly, no real order was required as long as they held hands and remained steadfast in their determination. It just so happened that Raphael and Tianna stood side by side. She hesitated for a moment, considering moving away, but Raphael reached out his strong hand and grasped her smaller one in his before she could. "Hold on to me." he said, not harshly as was his usual tone, but rather he said it intently as if he needed her just then. She squeezed his hand in hers and then looked to Lillian.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif "How much time do we have, Lillian?" Tianna tried to keep her voice steady, but it quavered a bit. She was scared...very scared.

"Not long now." Lillian looked around at the gathering and then out to the Doughnut Shoppe in general. The humans went about their daily rush, ordering coffee and bagels...asking for lattes, espressos, icee mochas as if they had not a care in the world. Oh, a few of them knew something of consequence was about to happen, but they were humans after all. They had their own lives to lead and what could they possibly do about a warlock who had merged with a fairy? Most of them didn't believe in that sort of thing anyway and therefore could not even see the fairies gathered there on the table.

TOOO, Grizz, Jade, HG, and DS12...the only humans to have interacted with the fairies recently, had been asked by Giladrian to not interfere in any way. It would only result in harm coming to them and it also might distract the fairies from their mission. "This is a fairy realm problem," Giladrian had said solemnly. "Only they can solve it."

04-09-2005, 08:59 AM
Suddenly Kallan was there, in the donut shoppe! One second he was not there, and the next, he was there, his sardonic sneer taking in the humans, which he dismissed from his calculations at once, and Giladrian, who received a sharp glare, but his main focus was the group of fairies, clasping hands in a circle.

In his heart, Kallan laughed. So like that crowd of mental weaklings to band together and touch for comfort. He would make them wish for much more than physical comfort before he gloried in his final revenge.

Kallan drew himself up to his full height, his eyes glowing with power, and his hands crackling with sparks as they gathered power from the very air in the donut shoppe. He fashioned a fireball, and as he did, he calculated which fairy would have the first taste of his wrath! No, not Raphael, nor Tianna. Much better for them to see what was in store for them before they felt it. That one there.... He probed.... The one named Lillian. She would do very well, though even as he formed the thought, he sensed that there was something about her that was not quite what he would expect. No matter! He gathered up the power, and hurled the fireball, whizzing, right at Lillian's head!!

04-09-2005, 09:19 AM
Out of a pocket he removes a packet of Alka-Seltzer and drops the two tablets into his untouched coffee.
As the fireball rushes toward Lillian, he throws the contents into the air in the miniature meteor's direction. There is a hissing sound, and before Tianna could warn Lillian about the incoming projectile, Giladrian stands between the table and Kallan holding up a small rock. He glares solemnly at Kallan.

"What's next?" he asks the warlock, "A miniature hurricane?"

04-09-2005, 10:09 AM
Almost without thinking about it, Kallan reaches out with a phantom hand, snatches the rock from the hand holding it, and hurls it at Jade.

Simultaneously, Kallan levitates Giladrian up above the fairy ring, and sends a lightning bolt crackling at the very heart of the ring!!

Deep in Kallan's mind, this is the moment Israphel has been waiting for. He senses a lack of attention to him from Kallan, and sends out a tentative tendril of thought, that meets no barrier. Good, Kallan is too involved with things to remember him for the moment. The thought tendril leaps across the room and encounters a link in the fairy ring of consciousness. Israphel follows the link through Tianna, and right on to Lillian. She is instantly aware of him, and there is a lightning merging of minds, his into hers and hers into his. She recognizes who and what he was and is, and instantly elects to accept him, trusting him completely! On his part, he humbly accepts that trust, and vows his aide against Kallan. He adds his own power to the fairy mind merge, and Lillian seems to grow and grow, becoming a beautiful and terrible "Queen of Power" (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v73/Olfar/FairyPwr.jpg) with lightning in each eye, and thunderbolts in both fists!!

04-09-2005, 10:23 AM
With a bellow of new-found ecstacy the Queen of Power throws back her hands and launches a bolt of chain lightning at Kallan from her mouth. Kallan lurches at the impact, his robe smoking from the burn. For a moment he forgets Giladrian in the air, and the wizard suddenly drops on top of a barstool.

04-09-2005, 10:27 AM
Grizz saw the projectile heading directly towards Jade and he used his plate to bat it away. It richocheted off the wall and then landed with a kerplunk in TOOO's drink. "Hey...watch it!"

"Sorry about that." Grizz smiled, his mind working quickly. He knew that only a handful of humans could see what was actually happening. They seemed at a loss as to what to do. Grizz simply shook his head and said, "They can handle it." He thought it would be prudent to move everyone back, so he went to the very end of the counter, well away from the table where the fairies were gathered, and invited the others to follow him. He did this by saying, "I have a story to tell you. It's very interesting, you see...once upon a time there was a powerful warlock..." The patrons at the doughnut shoppe gathered at the end of the counter, some sitting nearby while others stood close to hear Grizz's tale. All the while, across the room...the battle continued.

04-09-2005, 10:31 AM
Kallan, shaken and amazed by the power in Lillian, never-the-less still believes he is invincible. He puts up shields that he had not bothered with before, and becomes aware of the thought link between Israphel and Lillian, which is interfering with his shield. He bellows with rage, and tries to snap that thought link.

Lillian feeds all her power to Israphel for a nano-second, and Israphel uses the nano-second to lash at Kallan. Kallan feels a rending, tearing sensation in his mind, and suddenly the person of Israphel is free and corporeal. He flits to Lillian's side, and takes her hand. The physical contact just adds strength to the fairy merge.

Lillian glares at a suddenly diminished Kallan, and lightning bolts shoot from her eyes at him.

04-09-2005, 10:47 AM
Kallan drops to his knees, crying out in agony. Giladrian groans and holds his side where the barstool met his ribs. He slowly rises, and takes a salt shaker from the counter. He unscrews the cap and waits.
The fairy merge is relentless, stepping toward Kallan as the lightning continues to shoot from the Queen of Power's eyes. Kallan sinks to the floor in a downturned fetal position. Smoke emanates from every orifice, and blue flames start to shoot out from his spine.
Giladrian throws the contents of the salt shaker onto the warlock.
"By the Power, and the Love, and the Will, in the name of the Christ and the Maker, I bid you leave this realm and never return! So mote it be!"
Kallan's screaming form fades and vanishes.
The Fairy Merge glares at Giladrian.
"What?" replies Giladrian, "You think killing him would have solved the problem?"

04-09-2005, 11:07 AM
Lillian, speaking in a deep, echoing voice, replies...

"Nooooooooo! I never meant to kill him. But I truly did want to see him grovel for a bit!"

Then the fairy merge fell apart. All the fairies sank down exhausted, except for Lillian and Israphel, who couldn't seem to keep their hands off each other. Lillian was grinning and blushing at the same time.

Tianna looked at them, and laughed. "Hey!" she said. "You two need to get a room!"

Israphel drew himself up, and took both of Lillian's hands. They levitated together and began to whirl around, spinning faster and faster. They blinked out, both faces with smiles so wide and glorious that one could tell just by looking that they were off to some remote and beautiful corner of the fairy realm to indulge in a little canoodling.

Tianna chuckled, then sighed deeply, and went to Rahpael. She looked into his eyes and saw a new selfawareness along with a certain humbleness. She was satisfied. She hugged Raphael hard, then said her good byes to the others.

She then flew to Giladrian, and landed on his shoulder, commiserating with him for his painful side.

04-09-2005, 11:18 AM
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v85/JadesDream/Image35.gif Tianna made sympathetic sounds and patted Giladrian's cheek. "I am sorry you got hurt." She leaned in close and kissed him. "We could not have done this without you. Thank you for helping us when we needed you." She shuffled her feet shyly. "Will you thank Jahura when you see her again, please?"

Giladrian winked. "Sure will. Now off with you, time for you to be getting home." He acted gruff, but Tianna could tell he was getting misty-eyed. She kissed his cheek again and then waved to everyone. "See you soon. Good job everyone!" She waved cheerfully, and being a very happy fairy indeed, twirled into the air and disappeared in a wink.

04-09-2005, 11:28 AM
Giladrian takes his hat off of the bench seat and places it back on his head. With a grateful nod to Toria, he grunts as he pushes the door open and exits to the mall outside.

04-09-2005, 02:02 PM
The fairies waved to Giladrian as he walked out, calling, "Please come back and visit us sometime! We'd love to see you!!"

The humans in the doughnut shop carried on with their lives, never realizing that danger had been so close. Those that did know, smiled and waved at the little fairies, giving them a thumbs up signal. Grateful and pleased that everything had worked out ok.

All was quiet for now.

As Raphael flew back to his coffee shelf he thought to himself, "I wonder where Giladrian sent Kallan?" The next thing that crossed his mind was, "I hope it's permanent."

04-09-2005, 02:43 PM
Kallan found himself back in his remote retreat, among his books and scrying stone and all his paraphenalia of the warlock business. He felt unaccountably old, and shuffled to a large mirror to take a look at himself. He was horrified by what he saw in the mirror.

The man was old! Ancient even, with wispy grey hair that looked greasy, drooping eyelids, and sagging bags under the eyes. There were deep lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth, which had withered, cracked lips, and a jaw that moved constantly as though chewing, though there were no longer any teeth in the jaw with which to chew.

The body was stringy and weak, and hunched over at the shoulders. He could see the knees trembling, and the hands, which were gnarled and bony, were shaking with a kind of palsy.

Could this vision be himself?

He turned to the scrying stone, and tried to see back to the donut shoppe. The effort left him gasping and weak, and he couldn't even begin to see past the surface of the stone.

The image was true. He was an ancient man, way past his useful life, and all he could see ahead was a gradual decline into complete uselessness.

He tottered to his bed, sank onto the hard surface, curled into a fetal position, and pulled the blanket up over his head.

04-09-2005, 05:00 PM
As Giladrian pulls out his car keys and bends down to activate the door opener, a flaming arrow whizzes past his head and into a nearby light pole.
He looks up at the arrow with the message tied to it and shakes his head.
"Oh, no!" he says as the door opens, "Not this time!"
He gets into the car, starts the engine, and pulls out of the parking space in the direction of the rendevous point.

06-02-2005, 04:51 AM
Chuckles cautiously makes his way into the Donut shop and sees that it's been deserted. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif He picks up a broom and begins to sweep up the cobwebs. "Let's see..." he thinks, "I'll have to hire a bakery chef and a short-order cook. Hmmm...might need someone to run the counter..possibly two. Gee, I wonder what became of Toria and the automated server named Floyd?" (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7741041362/m/4831033362/r/1201054362#1201054362)

Hearing a ruckus in the supply closet, he opens the door and out comes Floyd. "Thank heavens! I've been stuck in there for a very long time!"

06-02-2005, 02:29 PM
Chuckles keeps sweeping, as the Shoppe has accumulated much dust in the recent weeks.

Can you get the kitchen equipment working, Floyd? I've got somebody in mind for the bakery chef and short order cook. They do have experience in the hospitality business:

Several hours later, two gentlemen in white stand inside the Shoppe.

"Boss, who is the guy in orange?" Tattoo asks Mr. Roarke.

"Well, Tattoo, he appears to be the one who sent for us," Mr Roarke replied. "I'm not sure that this would qualify as my fantasy (http://www.tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/ShowMainServlet/showid-679/Fantasy_Island/) job, but it will keep us busy until our next gig."

With that, Tattoo put on his bakery chef hat and handed Mr Roarke the hat for the short order cook.

This post was sponsored by the new book, "North Beach Diet", where only a high-carb diet stands between you and the body you want to have.

06-02-2005, 03:30 PM
A redhaired woman wanders over to the nice looking shoppe. She feels like she's been wandering around for a while, but can't really remember anything. Where she is, why this place seems familiar, everything is gone. She also has the feeling she should have some sort of pet with her, but she doesn't. Shrugging, she enters the Shoppe and looks around.

A man in an orange shirt stops sweeping, leans on his broom and says, "Hello there, I'm Chuckles and I'll be your host until Toria gets back from where ever she disappeared to. Can we get you anything?"

"UM, thanks. I'm... What is my name?"

"Well I can't help you there Red. I don't think we've met before." Chuckles frowns a little. "Have we?"

"Red?" the redhead drags her bangs over her eyes. Sure enough, her hair is scarlet. Obviously a dye job. "Hm, I suppose you can call me Scarlet. Can I get a chocolate doughnut please?"

"One chocolate doughnut comming right up, Miss Scarlet!"

Outside, no one has noticed a scorch mark and an arrowhead on the light pole of the Shoppe's porch light.

06-02-2005, 10:19 PM
"Funny you should mention Toria," Chuckles said as he handed Tora a jelly donut with sprinkles. "I found this note from her on the counter."

Hey guys, I've gotta run. Help yourselves to the donuts. Love, Toria

"Umm ... thanks for the donut, I think," Tora remarked after receiving the wrong order.

"Oh yes, I almost forgot," Chuckles continued. "Would you like those sardines for here, or to go."

"Sardines? Yuk! I'm not a cat," Tora Scarlett made a disgusted face at the thought of eating the sardines. "Wait a minute ... a cat?"

Just then Tattoo came out of the back room carrying a box. "Boss?"

Chuckles and Roarke both answer him, "Yes?"

"This box is labeled donut holes, but it's empty," Tattoo said as he set the box down on the counter ... I mean onto the floor.

"Yes, those are the donut holes. What's the problem?" Chuckles asked, wondering why he had asked.

"It's the only box we have. You might need to order some more. The other boxes all have stuff in them," Tattoo nodded as he returned to the back room.

"The sardines are ready, ma'am," Roarke, the short-order cook announced. "Unfortunately, we don't have any sardines, however it is a delightful game, I highly endorse it. I had to substitute mackerels for the sardines. I'll put them in this grocery sack, as the only empty box we have is full of donut holes."

"Thanks?" Tora stood there speechless.

06-03-2005, 12:33 AM
Scarlet - no Tora, she was remembering again! - reached for the doughnut. After all, it was sugar, even if it wasn't chocolate. She was surprised to see her hand go through it.

Tora blinked and stared at her hand for a moment. Now that her memories were comming back, she realized she wasn't all here. She was somewhere else, but here she was. What?

Tora tried walking through a few more objects, and Tattoo watched her with growing suspician as she walked through a table and three chairs. "That's it! I remember now! I'm astral projecting! But how on earth did I get here?"

Tattoo finally had enough. "Mr. Roake! Mr. Roake! A ghost! A ghost!" He ran from the room and locked himself in the walk-in freezer for safty.

Tora waved happily to Chuckles. "I'll be back later okay? I have to go collect my my body so I can eat that doughnut. And I'm sure Neko would love the sardines."

Whoooooshhh! Away she went. Chuckles stared at the vanishing customer. He sighed. "I really need to talk to Tattoo about customer service. We can't have him scaring customers into spiriting themselves away like that!"
Chuckles went off to find the short order cook, who was currently frozen with fear among the popsicles and ice cream.

06-03-2005, 08:52 AM
Actually, Tattoo is the bakery chef. Mr. Roarke is the short order cook. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Chuckles58 rescues Tattoo from the freezer, letting him know that here in the Myst/Riven/Exile/Revelation/Uru/EOA universe, anything can happen.

While he had been in there, he carved this swell ice sculpture:

06-03-2005, 06:23 PM
Grizz had taken a long break after the fairy war with Kallan. Now he came in, and marveled at the ice sculpture by Tattoo.

He edged closer and closer to the box of donut holes as he looked, apparently totally captivated by the sculpture. When he was close enough, he eased the lid off hehind his back, and felt around inside with one hand.

"Hey! Who ate all the donut holes!!" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif
"I suppose the donuts and the coffee are all gone too. Boy, you go away for just a little while, and someone comes in and just wipes out the stock of goodies in one fell swoop! I think I'll just go on back to the R, B & G. They have a wonderful pastry chef there. Even better than Tattoo."

06-03-2005, 07:29 PM
Jade's cheeks were bulging, but thankfully no one seemed to notice. She managed to swallow the last donut hole without anyone being the wiser except..

"Hey...Sugar Lips!"

"Awww...you say the sweetest things, Grizz."

"Erm...no, you have sugar on your lips!!" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Huffing and puffing and ready to fall down if the breeze is strong enough, Tora finally makes it back to the Shoppe, this time in body as well as spirit. Plus cat.

"Hello again! (huff huff) This time I (huff) am really (puff wheeze) here. I really shouldn't have (puff huff) eaten so (huff) much (puff) at that (wheeze gasp) Bar and Grille."

Tora sinks into a booth to catch her breath.
"You shouldn't have run all the way here if you're so out of shape." Neko informs her.
"Quiet kitty, you have no room to talk. I carried you all the way, remember?"

Neko huffs in indignation and goes to find the cook. "Any sardines?"

"Oh really Neko, you just finished three bowls full! Don't give her anything, she's liable to burst."

Grizz comes over and hands Tora a glass of water, which she accepts gratefully.
"Can I get you anything Tora?"

Tora stares up at him. "Hey wait a minute, how did you get here before me?!"

"You took a wrong turn at that last intersection and had to make a detour."

"I wasn't asking you Neko! Besides, you were the one reading the directions."

Grizz grins at the red head. "So, now that you have that figured out, do you want some desert? How about a doughnut?"

"Oh that's right, I need three dozen doughnut holes to bring back to the Hotel with me!"

On the other side of the room, Jade goes "Ummmmmmm..."

06-04-2005, 04:57 AM
Grizz raises one eyebrow, turns and looks over at Chuckles and points to the empty box that should contain donut holes. Chuckles turns and yells through the order hatch into the kitchen....

"Tattoo! We need more donut holes out here... stat!!"

From the kitchen comes a harried voice...

"All right, all right! Keep your shirt on! I just got spattered with hot fat. The pain! The pain!"

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif Grizz! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Jade nearly choked when she overheard Tattoo yelling from the kitchen and then she felt bad because he was really hurt! Deciding to help out, she disappeared into the kitchen. The others in the shop could overhear muffled conversation taking place, but couldn't quite make out what was being said.

Tattoo suddenly appeared with dozens of dinner rolls, wrapped in plastic.

"Where are the donut holes?!" Grizz asked.

"Jade said you wanted dinner rolls!" Tatoo replied.

"So what happened to the..." Chuckles' eyes widened when he realized they'd been duped. He ran into the kitchen just in time to see Jade leaving via the back-door with an armful of donut holes.

06-05-2005, 02:38 PM
Chuckles went back to help Tattoo with the donut machine. He could see that Tattoo had already been to the first aid box and seemed to be feeling better after the hot oil treatment.

"Tattoo, I see you don't understand how this donut machine works," Chuckles instructed him. "You see, first you reach into this empty box, pull out a dozen or so donut holes, then put them on this tray. Now take the donut dough (or is that doughnut do -- no, I don't think I want to ask) and form the donut dough around the donut holes. Once they are all properly surrounded, CAREFULLY drop them into the hot oil."

"Oh, I see," Tattoo acknowledged. "What do I do with the donut holes when it's done cooking?"

Chuckles grinned as he answered, "Simply remove the donut holes and put them back in the box to cool off. They are highly recyclable."

"Turkey!" Floyd called back to Mr. Roarke.

Mr Roarke called back, "Who are you calling a turkey? I'm working as fast as I can."

"No, this customer just ordered a turkey sandwich," Floyd explained.

Realizing that it might be awhile before her doughnut holes were ready, Tora sat down at a booth.

"Say, wasn't Jade here a moment ago?"

A good three hours later, Tora's three dozen doughnut holes are finally ready. She has powdered sugar, chocolate, glazed, and even cinnamon sugar!

"Thanks guys. These are great! I've gotta go now and get back to the Hotel. Neko come on. Neko? Neko!"

"Alright, alright, I'm ready." Neko padded out of the kitchen, licking cream off her whiskers.

"Honestly Neko, you're hopeless. Don't expect me to carry you back!"

"Hey, I'll be in your backpack. You'll never notice!"

"Want to bet, lardgut?"

Tora payed for her doughnut holes and, argumentative cat trailing behind, trooped out. Setting her boxes in the basket and unlocking the chain, Tora wheeled her bicycle out to the road. "I've really got to save up enough money for a moterized vehicle." she muttered.

Neko jumped up into Tora's backpack - tied and ducktaped to be a carrysack for her - and settled down. Tora pushed off, and began pedalling madly again. It was starting to get dark, and she wanted to be back on the Uru forums before nightfall.

"Hey, what happened to the caretaker of this place, eh?? We're out of doughnut holes!!!!!!"

06-14-2005, 05:12 AM
What?!! Again?!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

Hey! Wait just a minute here. Weren't you the person who cleverly walked off with the entire batch the last time we got in a shipment? And now you want more? Pffft!

Catch a clue, girl. They are obviously being hidden to prevent you from repeating your previous sneaky actions. Looks around. Whispers. I saw Chuckles toting in a large box early this morning. He took it into the kitchen, but when I looked later, it was gone. Don't you think this needs investigation?

06-18-2005, 09:27 AM
Cathyk entered, carrying a very heavy backpack. She rang the bell on the counter and Mister Rourke emerged from the kitchen.

"And what can I get for you this morning?" he asked.

"Two dozen doughnuts please, no holes - I've got some hungry campers to treat," she said.

"Coming right up," he replied, then called into the kitchen. "Tattoo, two dozen doughnuts, hold the holes."

Turning to back to Cathyk, he asked, "Anything else?"

"No thanks," she replied, and she settled the bill whilst she was waiting. Soon, Tattoo emerged from the kitchen with a box of two dozen doughnuts sans holes. Taking the box, she thanked them and then linked out.

Hobbling in on a sore foot, Toria sees all this activity. "Hey guys and gals, how is it going? I'm glad to see you all hanging out here. I sprained my ankle, you see, and need a coffee with cream and sugar and a doughnut, please." She settles herself down and the requested items are delivered to her. "I'll try and make an effort to keep my eye on this spot more often" she says, to no one in particular. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Chuckles58 drops by the Shoppe to check on things following his lengthy vacation (almost 3 weeks). He notices an empty box on the counter. He looks at the label on the side.

"Tattoo! It looks like the food service company sent the wrong supplies. This is a box of bagel holes, not donut holes.

I still have bad memories of my first bagel. Well it looked like a donut!"

He sees that things are operating well, so he heads home, needing a good night sleep for his first day back to work in 3 weeks. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

07-09-2005, 01:09 PM
Toria bustles in, arms full of stuff, and she trips. Tattoo comes out to see the mess. "You need help missy" he says. Toria picks herself, dusts herself off. "Sorry I've not been in here much lately" she says with a red face. "That's okay" Tattoo says with a smile. "I'd love a coffee" says Toria. "We've got bagel holes instead of doughnut holes" said Tattoo with a long face. "Oh no, not again?" said Toria. "We'll have to work on that!" she said with a wry grin. The coffee was perfect, then she linked out.

07-10-2005, 11:30 AM
Jade slid onto a stool and grinned at the person behind the counter. "One Boston creme, please...with chocolate on the top." She tapped her fingers on the counter while she waited to be served and then noticed the little fellow down at the end, mimicking her.

"Is that a..." Her eyes grew large.

"Yes...one of my cousins came to visit." Tattoo smiled at Jade and then nodded his head towards said cousin.

"Oh, I see. Does the owner of this establishment know about this?" (http://www.mediarebellion.com/i/hosted/cobra/Oompa%20copy.jpg) Jade asked.

Asleep in his bed, all snug as a bug (a Keanulint of course), Chuckles58 has a nightmare of a run in with Norma Rae.

He wakes up disturbed, then remembers something, "I don't own the Shoppe, I just kind of started helping run things while Toria was gone."

Relieved that he didn't have to worry about any labor troubles, he went back to sleep.

07-15-2005, 02:15 PM
Toria reads the note that JadesDream had left for her. "LOL, now we've got real troubles!" she chuckled under her breath. "Not just mixed up orders, stolen doughnut holes but UNION demands!" she muttered.

It was late at night and she was tired. "I'll sleep on this until the morning".

07-17-2005, 01:33 PM
Chuckles58 walked into the Shoppe to check on things. As he whistled a merry tune on his way back to the back, Tattoo heard that he was there.

"Boss?" Tattoo called out.

"Yes?" Both Mr. Roarke and Chuckles answered.

"We just got a large order, but I'm not sure how we'll fill it in time," Tattoo answered.

"What did they order?" Chuckles prompted his pastry chef.

"There's a big gathering over on the Uru forum. They ordered twelve dozen industrial strength eclaires (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/5451034/m/5421046542/r/1761090933#1761090933)"

DS walks into the Shoppe and looks around.

"Where did everyone go?" he askes looking bewildered.

07-27-2005, 06:03 PM
"what can I get you?" asked Tattoo from behind the counter. "It's summer holidays and the place has been dead for weeks" he continued. DS got his doughnut and coffee and settled down at the counter for a snack.

08-08-2005, 01:54 PM
RW walked into the extremely quaint and quiet Shoppe. He was relatively new to this part of the neighborhood and in need of a quite place to wait. Wait, wait, wait, September 22nd seemed so far away, almost an eternity.

"Ah well, perhaps a roll and java will pick me up. Hello! Is anyone around? If you can hear me, I'd like to order a regular Joe and cinnamon roll, hot, with real butter. Oh, and my wait will be rather lengthy, about a month, no longer I hope. Is it possible to open a tab?"

08-12-2005, 05:05 PM
Toria settles down for a chat with rw. "Here, more coffee for you?", as she offers to refill his cup. "Yeah, the waiting until September 22nd is long, isn't it? But it'll go by fast. You want to know my favourite kind of doughnut?"

09-06-2005, 02:05 PM
By now, RW was a doughnut, afloat in a sea of the rich and aromatic, Grizz's special blend, coffee. Not that the company of Toria was unpleasant, it was indeed very pleasant. RW and Toria looked at the calendar, fourteen days until the 20th, the day of the release of Myst V.

RW was certain by that time that he would never want another doughnut again. Well, that might be to much of an exaggeration. I mean really, life without a chocolate and sprinkled covered doughnut was hard to imagine, and the cinnamon roles were the best he had ever had, as was the coffee, or maybe is was Toria's company that just made it seem so.

RW grabbed the fresh pot of coffee and refilled their cups.

09-06-2005, 02:11 PM
"Ahhh, thanks for that" as she settles back down. "My favourite doughnut is the maple cream filled one with the sprinkles on top. Eat too many of those and you'll not be able to get out the door soon enough" she included, with a laugh. "Isn't it sad about hearing the news from Cyan?" Hot tears splashed down across her cheeks. She was too choked up to continue. "Forever and ever, I'll remember Myst games with fondness and happiness".

09-06-2005, 02:44 PM
From deep down, RW felt his own well spring of emotion surging upward.

€œToria, I cannot easily express how the news out of Cyan has affected me. To me, Rand, CYAN, the Cyanists, those writers of worlds, of ages, they were the roots, the anchor, the foundation of the tree. To me, the Myst series and URU, were more then games. There are times in real life, that one just needs to get away, to recharge. Beginning way back in 1993 when Myst first came out, I was able to do that, to escape when desired and needed, the Myst series and then URU, allowed me to do that. Myst, and especially Riven, I visited time and time again. The sounds, the environment, crafted with so much detail. The puzzles, engaging the mind, teaching you knew ways to look at things, and then the story, so much there, of life.

I have never experienced anything, playing any other computer game, which so transported me away, as Cyan has in their products. They really did feel like real worlds I could visit, time and time again, and immerse myself in, and I did.

Really, words do fail me to be able to describe all that I feel about Cyan and what they created. They sparked my imagination, and then when I found this community, met so many that have become real friends, from all over the world, it all took on so much of a greater dimension.

Perhaps even Rand from a business perspective might say, as others have, €œThere just games€, and on the most fundamental level they are. Yet, something that brings a community together like Cyan has done with their creations, well, there is something more there, something...magical.

I hope and will continue to hope that Cyan will recover, that the Cyanists will be reunited. Cyan is experiencing some hard times, true, but they still exist and hopefully, Myst V will be a major success. I also hope they are able to find the funding for their next project and can hire back as many of the employees as have not moved on to other oppurtunities.

Beyond that, I very sincerely hope that many new individuals will discover the mystery, the magic, the wonder, of the Myst series and URU, and discover and cause to endure, a marvelous and wonderful company that truly deserves loyalty and success.€

RW regained his composure, and his breath. He turned his head away, covering his mouth, and made a small cough and then swallowed hard, to clear the knot in his throat.*blush*

"Ummm, more coffee, Toria?€

RW couldn't tell if Toria was in shock or just surprised, at RW's emotional spill, he had run on a bit, hadn't he?

RW gave them each a warmup on the coffee.

Toria, you're very fond of Cyan and the Myst and URU games as well, what has the Myst series and URU, and the news out of CYAN, meant to you? Could you share it with me, please?

09-07-2005, 10:57 AM
Toria settled down with her coffee, tucking her legs underneath her.

What the Myst games mean to me overall, are fantastic worlds waiting to be discovered. The first time I sat down with a Cyan game, it was Myst, in 1995. It was Christmas Day and my husband had given it to me. That opened my eyes to what an amazing world had been created. I got the Book of Ti'ana not long after, with the map on the inside front cover. Then Riven came out. The wonderful, complicated, intricate world of Riven. Captivated me like no other game has, yet. I can still recall easily the first encounter I've had with each of the Myst titles and of course, URU.

To hear that Cyan laid off most of its staff was like I got struck by a truck, unawares. It's like losing a close personal friend, in a sense. But I'm encouraged by the news that they are still having business meetings. They aren't dead yet! Until I hear the news that they are bankrupt, I'll not give up hope. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

My hopes are that they'll succeed where others have failed. My wish is that all of the team could, possibly, work together again, although, that is highly unlikely, with bills to pay and mouths to feed.

Toria pauses for a deep breath, knowing she's said what she can say. Her coffee has gone cold and she pauses to reheat it again. She feels better now that rw and her have spoken.

09-13-2005, 10:33 PM
Chuckles walks into the donut shop and joins RW and Toria as they share memories of Myst, Riven, Exile, Revelation and Uru.

"Yes, it has been a fun ride, albeit a bit bumpy the last year and a half," Chuckles pours himself a large orange (his favorite color) juice and selects a plump apple fritter. "I'm hopeful Cyan can get support to continue with their creative efforts."

"Hey, look at that! Just a bit over a week to go for End of Ages."

09-14-2005, 01:29 PM
"Hiya Chuck" as Toria pours another round of coffee. "How's things in your part of the world? I'm doing all right here. Just getting a bit antsy thinking about the lucky souls who are already playing the Myst V game!" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

09-14-2005, 09:06 PM
Chuckles helps himself to a few old-fashioned buttermilk donuts and fixes himself a frappacino then sits back down to continue his visit.
Doing fine here Toria. I'm looking forward to receiving Myst V Limited Edition, but it probably won't matter if it came today or 9/22, as I'm busy with the end of tax season (extensions) through 10/15. I'll probably fire it up a little just to keep from going crazy.

09-16-2005, 03:15 PM
Settling down with a Chai latte and a good Nevada Barr novel, by the fireplace, Toria thinks to herself "Only a few more days, then finally I can see what all the stink is about! Can't wait for it!" It's a cool, cloudy, rainy day out and it's a great day for curling up like a cat and napping if you've got the time for it.

10-15-2005, 11:19 AM
BirLu entering the bar. The door is swinging back and forth, taken by a soft wind, creeking slightly.
The room is deserted, the bar empty besides a nearly full bottle of beer obviously abandoned in a rush. Chairs are lying on the ground, tables are still stuffed with half-eaten donuts and coffee mugs....She stays in wonder. One month ago it was still full of life here; what happened? Approaching the bar she finds a Nevada Barr novel on the floor. Picking it up a little piece of paper is falling out of the pages. Nothing's on it, except the cryptic message: "V released today".
Who's V? And why is he released? And why did everybody seem to have fled from him?
She sighs, sitting down tiredly. After a long day at the forum she was up to a nice strong espresso or, if there would have been company, maybe an ouzo or two...well, it doesn't look like it's served here anymore. Or does it?

10-16-2005, 10:14 AM
Much to BirLu's surprise, Mr Roarke appeared from the back.

"And what I can got for you, dear lady? Here, at the Myst V doughnut bar and coffee shop, we pride ourselves on being able to supply you with anything you desire."

"Umm, ah, an ouzo, please?" asked BirLu.

"Coming right up."

And in no time at all, a glass of ouzo was supplied, along with a small bowl of olives.

"Thank you," she said. "Umm, things seem a trifle slow around here."

"Ah yes," Mr Roarke replied. "V has been released," he continued, as if that explained anything.

"Oh," said BirLu.

10-16-2005, 01:20 PM
Toria appeared in the doorway and was happy to see BirLu there. "I've been busy playing V!" she exclaimed. "What's this mysterious V I keep hearing about?" replies BirLu. "Oh you know, the Myst V: End of Ages game. It's great and you should try it". She settled herself down with a Earl Grey tea and a biscuit. "Let's talk about it."

10-18-2005, 12:38 AM
BirLu, slightly tipsy by the second ouzo, shuffled in the direction of Toria, bumping into a chair and spilling most of the third ouzo she'd ordered.
"Gosh, these bars nowadays are getting too crowded" she exclaimed, grinning sheepishly at Mr. Roarke who offered her a hand.
"Maybe you shouldn't drink too much of our ouzo, missy, doesn't do you any good, so to see,hm---well, let me bring you a nice cup of Greek coffee",he said, and frowning his forehead he walked off.
Safely having arrived next to Torias chair BirLu managed to climb into another one and sighed: "Scusi, Toria, 't has been an exhausted day with a lot of talking about UU keys....y'know Leehrat? Okay now, let's talk about that Myst of yours; is it Mist like in German (****) or in Dutch (fog)? And where does the V stand for? And why the End of Ages....? Does everything always have to end?"
And a small glinstering tear rolled down her cheek...
Well, before things could get worse, Mr. Roarke
arrived with a Greek coffee and a big piece of Baklavas.

10-18-2005, 11:05 AM
"I love bakclavas! Thanks for ordering them. I've not finished Myst V End of Ages. I need more time in my life with less kids and other stuff to do." http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Toria settles down to the Greek coffee and bakclava with glee. "I didn't know you were female until now" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

10-18-2005, 11:59 AM
Recovering from the ouzo and munching the fresh baklavas BirLu glances a little bewildered at Toria: "Thanks for the compliment, Toria....do I look that awful? Well, I mean, what has been in your tea? Do only men around here wear long hair?" and she gniffles in the direction of Mr. Roarke, who seems to be very involved in combing his long grey hair, touching it softly with one hand.
"By the way, Toria, were are all the others? Still involved in the game?" Saying that the door opens , bringing in a cold Taghiraen-like wind and a beautiful myst-erious woman.

10-19-2005, 07:04 AM
Chuckles58 walks into the Shoppe, waves to Toria and introduces himself to BirLu.

"Pleased to meet you," Chuckles offers in greeting. "Yes many have been away due to V. Oh, I see you are sampling Tattoo's Baklava. Excellent."

"By the way, do you know where Baklava is made?" Chuckles asks with a twinkle in his eye.
"In a musical volcano, of course"

"You know, Bach-lava"

"Never mind"

With that, he walks into the back to check on Tattoo, the pastry chef, and Mr. Roarke, the short order cook.

09-03-2007, 08:08 AM
Why do people always refer to crickets when making a joke? Harry the cricket asked his good friend Felix the cricket.

Why, I don't know old chum. I thought we raised an awful din last night." Felix responded, moving his antennae this way and that.

Do you suppose we've been quiet long enough?" Harry asked.

Indubitably. Felix replied.

So the crickets went on their merry way, which is to say they followed Chuckles58 into the back to sample the pastries themselves.

ToriaUru, having watched the little exchange called out, "Quick, someone call the health department!"
