Excellent..I just came across the site myself, then noticed there was already a thread.

The recording of a broadcast from Dover where the reporter is telling what he sees as a convoy is being bombarded then later attacked by bombers...frightening!

Look for "News Report | Convoy Shelled in Straits of Dover".

I would have said for protection against hard, falling, German objects, but there seems to be a wire attached to it, so maybe there is a different reason. For electrifying falling airmen maybe?? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hi all,

May I recommend the recordings of Dowding and Park?

Audio only but they give new insights to me.

For example, Dowding called together a Cabinet meeting with Churchill as regards the loss of Hurricanes in France. Dowding knew that Churchill was fond of maths and drew a graph showing the escalating loss of Hurricanes in France.

During the meeting Dowding left his seat and thrust the graph under Churchills nose. Churchill was now convinced.

History was made.

I've not got time to look through the whole video, but could it be a gas bag? During WW2, vehicles were sometimes converted to run on coal gas. A screenshot would help.
