Hello, I just re-installed IL2FB since I got a new computer Dell XPS and can finally enjoy this sim with all the detail but it seems the aircraft graphics are Very pixellated and jaggy. Even at highest detail and 1280 X 1024 resolution. They look terrible. Almost 800 x 600ish or worse. I don't remember the graphics in this game looking so bad. Especially with all the reviews complimenting the graphics. Looking at screenshots I can see a hint of jagged graphics, but I don't remember them being this bad. Also have Pacific fighters but can't find disc 1. As I seem to remember that games graphics as pretty good. I might just have to just play BOB2 if this is how they are.

Hi,

You might want to take this to the Community Help forum, with details of your rig, a dxdiag readout, and a copy of your conf.ini file for the experts to peruse.
On a well-set-up rig the game plays very well, with good graphical quality, so you may need some tweaking advice.

What are the computers specs?
What graphics card do you have?
What driver version is the graphics card running?

What level of detail have you selected inside of the games hardware setup/video options section?

In the setup program (found in the start menu IL2 folder) what video setup have you selected?

Answering these questions will give a better idea of what the problem might be as IL2 is a good looking sim<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

1280x10124 is not supported in IL2FB.
Utilize every glorious pixel of your TFT monitor (if you have one and your graphics card is capable), instead of 1280x960 which will result in some pixel scaling...

In the [window] section of conf.ini make sure these settings are... er... set (assuming that your TFT is 1280x1024 resolution which the majority are).

width=1280
height=1024
ColourBits=32

SaveAspect=0

Close and save changes and there you go!

When the game launches you will have slight black banding top and bottom (like widescreen) but when you are actually in the game it will be fullscreen 1280x1024.
The chatbox window will also be down 1 line and you can't move it up! Not really a problem.

If you launch the FB+AEP+PF+setup the resolution will revert to 640x480 16bit colour, same if you go to graphics settings in the game. The conf.ini will also revert. You'll have to change it again if this happens. If you are happy with your settings in conf.ini and you don't think you will be changing things you can set the file to 'read only' and it will not change...

Hope this helps.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

SOunds like there is something wrong with your filtering.

Try changing the settings between Linear, Point and Anisotropic filtering on your graphics card or ingame settings.

Go to your Il2 folder and run Il2setup.exe.

Cahnge the Video tabs 'Setting' to 'Custom'.

Now try changing the 'Texturemap filter' box to a different setting and then run the game, see if there is any difference.

If this makes no difference then check your graphics card settings and try changing the same setting here. (Right click on desktop and choose control panel if nvidia)

Can you tell us your system spec please?

If the above dont work then :-

Have you just reformatted or something? Did you make sure to install your graphics driver and direct X? Have you tried a different graphics driver? Update your graphics card driver to the latest if you haven't already. If you have then try an older driver.

Try running hte game in DirectX and see if thats any better. If you are already in DirectX then try OpenGL.

We need more info to be able to help you. What has changed since your uninstall/reinstall of the game, any hardware changes or reformat?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It's anti-aliasing (aa) I think. Set it to aa=2x or 4x on your graphics card and see if it rounds things out. That's what made my game look smoother.You can set it up to 16 or higher depending on the card but it will bring your PC to its knees if it's too high.
On my nVidia card I can change this setting by going to the Quality Settings menu.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Is that a flat panel? They can screw things up. Best set the FB res to the flat panel actual
res and definitely run some AA if that don't fix it, but AA and filtering cut your FR unless
you have a monster card compared to mine... I run reduced graphics at 1024x768 just to be able
to get playable frames. No AA for me!

My son eventually figured out that the Kiwi should have pulled a safety net at the bottom of the mountain, so he could have been bounced back up. I realized that it would have multiplied the fun as well.
