Azugo
08-19-2009, 12:29 AM

Xanatos2007
08-19-2009, 12:37 AM
I was thinking of joining the SAS, but you have to spend at least six years in regular infantry, which is BORING. I'd like to join the British SAS though (the original special forces group) since they get the most action, SASR doesn't really get up to much.

If you're interested though, you may want to view this series (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vykq1oQ31Aw). There are seven episodes slit up into six parts, each going for about 10 minutes (so about 7hrs in total). Very informative.

Azugo
08-19-2009, 12:44 AM
Okay I'll have a look at 'em when I get the time. And by 7 hours you mean 70 minutes? By the way, the SASR does what the US Marines does and all that.. Go to find Bin Laden etc. And also does some infiltrating. Like, going behind enemy lines and that. So, really, the SASR does get up to quite a bit. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Who cares if I have to go through 6 years of regular infantry!? If you wanna do something enough, what's gonna stop ya...?

Danvish
08-19-2009, 12:47 AM
It's a good thing to join the army, and I wish both of you luck.

Azugo, the physical part is not that diffucult. I was in no shape when I joined the Special Forces 2.5 years ago, and today I can run like crazy (could run like crazy, since my leg still has problem functioning properly).

The hard part, is the mental diffuculty. They do w/e they can to break you down.

Xanatos2007
08-19-2009, 12:49 AM
It's all described in those videos. And it is seven hours; each episode goes for 1 hour but they're split into 10 minute vids. They give you a really good idea of what to expect.

@Xanatos: Ah, I see. Like I said, I'll have a look at them when I can.

EmperorxZurg
08-19-2009, 01:12 PM
for what THEY do, there is no one BEST unit in the world for everything, every country has their own best stuff, like the marines are the best at amphibious warfare and the SAS are best at secret affairs and the israeli air force are best in the sky, there is no one best

Azugo
08-20-2009, 05:23 PM
I know... That's why I said ONE of the best.
We Aussie's (in the military world) are known for our courage. This means that the Aussie Defence Forces (especially the SASR) would just grab a mission by it's throat, if you know what I mean. This is why the SASR is considered one of the best in the world. Equal to the SAS and the SEALS.

EmperorxZurg
08-20-2009, 05:49 PM
in ur area of expertise. no one military group can do everything, those are considered over-all some of the best ones in everything but if it came down to specifics they are probably certain groups that equal u or more in just that area, but ya, the SASR the SAS and the seals and all them are considered to be some of the best overall in the world

Disturb is right, no single unit is best at anything. When I was a young PFC, we did some training with the Green Barrets. And those guys are ****ing tough... They were much better than us in survival and physical strength, but we were much better in urban-terrain fighting.

Thought I was a member of the special forces, the Elite squads (SAS, Delta Force, Navy Seals) are superior to almost everyone else. Those guys are animals...

Actually I do. They were my first choise (before the jewish part).
I'm an open battle guy. I prefer fighting hand-to-hand than running and striking, so the merc will be perfect for me,

Azugo
08-22-2009, 08:34 AM
Same, I prefer hand-to-hand, but I love the hidden blade. I also like the Merc's. But, I like being stealthy lol. I know that you can get the Merc's to distract but they kill. And I don't kill innocents. I know it's a game, but it's more Assassin-like to not kill innocents.

Merc's distract by killing.
Thieve's distract by killing or pick-pocketing.
Courtesan's distract by seducing.

Hooray for Thieves!

In my game when I get it, I'll use the Thieves. (I'd actually rather not using any factions to help.) And I'll probably almost always have a short-sword on me. I'll travel around wearing light stuff.

Danvish
08-22-2009, 08:56 AM
I prefer going around with a heavy sword in my belt. You can never know when it comes handy.

Azugo
08-23-2009, 05:24 AM
That's true. But it doesn't matter for me 'cause, as I said, I like being stealthy and a short sword is lighter which is more stealthy.

Is there any Military Corp in the World that don't use M4's?

Xanatos2007
08-27-2009, 02:14 AM
I don't see why everyone loves the M4, there's a tonne of better options out there. Probably just because it's cheap, I guess.

Azugo
08-27-2009, 03:16 AM
Xanatos, You should make a list of your 'Better Options'.

Now, I don't see why everyone likes the AK-47. Personally, my favourite gun is the P90 SMG. But I still like the M4...

Also, there's this new Machine Gun being manafactured in Australia, it's been named 'Metal Storm'. Apparently, it can fire a million rounds in a minute. They reckon it's the future of firearms.
Beauuuuty mate! XD

Xanatos2007
08-27-2009, 03:56 AM
Better assault rifles than the M4: FN SCAR, HK 416 (basically an AR-15 with better reliability & accuracy), HK G36, Steyr AUG, FN F2000, HK XM8 (which they cancelled for some reason), the list goes on. I think the main reason why they're not widely used is because they're more expensive.

And who the hell would need to fire a million rounds in one minute? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif (well, Americans obviously)

Danvish

Wll, I do like the TAR-21 better than the M4. But the M4 is just a cheapr and quite reliable weapon. It can feature a lot of add-ons, and it's quite easy to maintain.

And yep, it's 5.56, thought I have a thicker barrel so I can use a bit heavier bullets.

Xanatos is right, Dan. They're free to talk about whatever they want, whenever they want! :P

Except on Tuesdays between 4:00pm and 5:30pm, that's self-help time. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

I hate things like that...

Yeh, and no "hidden blade" jokes on that time too.

But you're in a different time zone, so it's not like it matters anyway.

How's that leg? Think you'll be able to start doing Parkour? Could save your life. (they're starting to teach Parkour in SF units around the world)

How are they gonna be able to do Parkour with a gun, kevlar, helmet, military clothes and the heavy bag thing they wear? (Forgot what it's called.)

I've done Parkour with a heavy schoolbag before, it's not that hard. Well, it was harder because it was my Far Cry 2 bag (which is worn over one shoulder) so it kept disrupting my balance a bit, but I can still run like hell. And soldiers (particularly SF units) are trained to move quickly with a lot of equipment. And you wouldn't do Parkour with a 55lb/24kg bergen anyway, when they climb cliffs they send one guy up first (without his pack) carrying a rope and they hoist everything/one up seperately. In urban combat though Parkour would help in getting around and out of deadends.

I just had an idea. What if the thieves could use bows and arrows and Ezio could command them to shoot from the rooftops at a group of guards in the streets?

That would be nice.
