Today i sneaked into Loch Ewe and sunk the Nelson for the second time http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I then continued on to my patrol grid AM 51. Met ships along the way, had 4 bow torpedos left, and 1 stern. Reached the patrol grid, and sunk a C2 with my last stern tube. Radio message: Large convoy in grid AM 52!! That's right near me. So i go ahead flank on an intercept course. Ohmy, 2 C3's, 3 C2's a bunch of small/coastal merchants, 2 C2 tankers, all guarded by a single Flower Corvette! I really didn't feel like wasting one torpedo on the Flower, so i waited till the convoy was all around me, and fired off 2 fish at the C2 tanker, and 1 each at the C2 cargo's. btw, the C3's were neutral http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif The tanker blew up, one C2 sunk, another didn't. I decided to risk it and blew ballast right in the rear of a convoy. there was a C2 right in front of me, so i sunk it with my deck gun. then i started firing at the burning C2 i hit before, and sunk that. "We are under attack, sir". The Flower was trying to make its way through the 3 columns of merchants, firing its guns over my head. I put a small merchant between me and him, and sunk that one, too. Then the Flower hit me twice, and i decided to dive. I now have quite serious flooding in the engines room and damage to my bow quarters. The flower is pinging me. Do you think i can still survive? It's gonna suck if i die, i accumulated 75 000 tons by now

Just be smart about it. Dive deep, don't worry about the noise. Go slow and wait till it drops charges then go full throttle and hard rudder and back to slow as the charges explode. With this method I survived a 2 hour pounding in Dec 1944 and only had to load my game 3 times, 100% difficulty. My next campaign will be iron man but I've been with this boat for far to long to loose it now.

If thats the convoy's only escort he'll leave you alone before long because he'll have to go protect the convoy. It probably won't last more than 15 min.

AM 52, good your in deep water. Repair the leaks, and if you still have 100% hull, take it down to about 190-200M.

You may have sunk the Nelson and the Rodney, the 2nd Nelson class battleship. Although since the first time you sunk one, it was in port, it could be that it was raised and returned to service. I would be interested to know if you see a third Nelson during your campaign... please post if you do! I want to figure out how the game handles these things.

You should easily be able to take on a Flower with your deckgun. It will be a challenge now that hes after you, but I do this: Drive up to 3000m from him, throw it in emergency reverse, and start hitting it with your gun (manually), using your WO to get the range. Use Shift+Arrows to adjust range quickly. By being in reverse, it will take him much longer to get into his accurate range. You should be able to hit him 80% at 3000m, he will miss every time til he gets within 1000m. Remember to aim for the waterline, and aim for his engine when he turns. This works every time for me against Flowers and Trawlers, I just tried it on a DD for fun, didn't work so well, I plugged 10AP rounds into his broadside waterline, then took out his bow deck guns and kept hitting his waterline, and dove (in reverse, lol) when he got too close. Unfortunately he was waaaay to close and plowed into my raised bow, instant death.

Ok, the Flower went away as expected, and i guess some of you didnt read my post, since i had heavy flooding and couldnt dive too deep. The Flower showed me his stern and i dispatched it with the deck gun. I'm in the process of mopping up the ships with the gun, but i have 0 torps left and about 40 HE rounds.. I dunno how far it is gonna get me.. The next partol i will try to go to loch ewe again, but i doubt i'll have enough time.. Its the end of december and that ship leaves port on january 5th. But if i do make it, i'll post what i found
