View Full Version : Game won't play- help please

Greetings everyone, I have Windows 7 installed on a new Macbook, and I just downloaded Conviction using Steam. When I click Play I get this-

The following errors were found:
256 MB of video memory is required
The D3D device could not be initialized properly.

When I check in Computer, under System it says Installed Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB. Why does Conviction think I have less than 256 MB of video memory?

I have no idea what the "D3D device" is.

Also, I downloaded Patch 1.04 and when I open it a message says, "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction is not installed. Please install the game and then apply this patch again."

Thanks for your help

Okay, as far as I know your RAM and video memory isn't the same thing.

The Video memory has with your grafic card to do. Which means either, your grafic card isn't good enough or it isn't supported

I also made a quick research (google) on D3D, and D3D stands for direct 3d.

Edit: Also I'm on windows, not macbook. But I figure this might help you a little bit
I believe that upgrading your drives might fix that issue. Note: this last part was based on 5min google research.
