I've noticed that the object names in the Full Mission Builder have changed (FB v1.2 R01). This is not simply that new objects have been appended to the list, but old object names have changed.

This can be confusing when looking for a chimney (say) that used to be object 57 (I think) - but you see a tin hut instead.

Can we have a file where end-users can enter the names of objects - something like an .ini file?

Say

[object_list]
8=Yalta Castle
10=Yalta Cliffs

These names should only appear in FMB. The existing name structure should be used when saving to mission files - to do otherwise would cause portability problems.
(Appearing in the object viewer window, and as the object name when the mouse hovers over the object)

I'm sure the community will quickly supply meaningful names for the objects, and you can have some language independance.

I've given up correcting my own spelling

Bump

Nothing's more frustrating than having to scroll up and down the list and click on each item to open a window to show what it is, then try to remember which one was the tree, group of trees, oil drums . . . you get my drift.

I have another proposal:

Don't make one large list with ~350 objects; usability is very bad there!

Split it up into several categories, that can be chosen from the upper dropdown list. Possible Categories are:

Houses Summer
Houses Winter
Bridges
Airbase Objects
Industrial Buildings
Trees and Fences
Fortifications and Piers
Special Objects

Ah - If Oleg lets us sort the names to, then we can choose our own grouping:

Airbase - Summer - Oil Drums Loose
Airbase - Summer - Oil Drums Tidy
Airbase - Summer - Radar
...
Airbase - Winter - Oil Drums Loose
Airbase - Winter - Oil Drums Tidy
Airbase - Winter - Radar
...

Ok - it's a long name, and I suspect I'd want to reduce Summer and Winter to S and W - but that would be my choice ;-)

Good thinking plumps_
