View Full Version : Why does it take so long ????

To get back to the Aircraft Carrier to land ???
When do you know that your Mission is over ???

I love this game but, the long flights back to the Landing strip are ridiculous !!!

Is there any way to get around this ???

I don't want to sit here and fly my plane over open water for 30 minutes.

You can use autopilot and then accellerate the time to 8x. Go make a cup of joe....or enjoy a beer... or take the dog out for a constitutional and then come back to land.

I know there's a button in the keyboard/stick assignment that allows for time skip. It's near the bottom 3rd of the assignment page. I myseld haven't used it, but I know it's there.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the welcome guys !!!!

I'm relatively new to these kind of PC games.
I've been playing the sports games for years but, this type of game is new to me.

My best friend bought this game and insisted that I try it.
I love it.
I'll look for the "time skip" option.

Thank you for the replies.

Time skip is in there yes. You can find it under the Control box. But you have to enter a key in the space provided for it. The default doesn't assign any key to it. It works but it doesn't take you to the next waypoint in the blink of an eye. Your screen just goes black and then it accelerates the time. I quickly checked it the first time and it seemed to have been about a third quicker than real time. In other words it took 20 seconds to travel as far as what you would have done in a minute under normal time. It could have been better.

Forgot to say that with IL-2 I used to just get back to my own airspace, that is across the border, then I quit the mission with landing. That used to work and I could continue the campaign but I haven't tried this with PF yet.
Maybe you can give it a shot.

It's a "Long" flight because of your perceptions. In reality, flying for ten minutes is considered a very short "hop". In other words:

It's a 'long' flight because it's a simulation. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Be thankful you're not flying a P-51 out of Martlesham Heath in England, and escorting B-24s to Schweinfurt. See you in 7 or 8 hours! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I play racing simulations in which it takes say 1:30 to complete a lap, and the race is 50 laps. Some people think that's a 'long' race, but it's what the racers really do. There's a similar effect with this sim- 20 minute's worth of flying to a player may seem 'long', but not only is that really a short flight, it's what they really did. That's why we have time acceleration and timeskip http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
