wow, nice shots. Id love to have my 100 to 500 mm lens there. what a backdrop. that La-9 is hte only one flying. Dont know much about its service though. The ultimate Lagg.

Thats because its not a La-7. Its a La-9. Built just after the war, the La-9 replaced the La-7 rather quickly because the La-7s were rotting due to the wooden construction and the La-9 was all metal. Ray Hanna remarked, after flying the Bearcat, Sea Fury, and La-9 that the La-9 was by far the best handling of the three and that what the La-9 lacked in comparison to the other two was automation and was otherwise a superb aircraft.

Even better than the La-7.
