Keep this on the top of the page.

If only so the Stuka and 110 drivers have something pretty to look at after they bail out http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

The loading cranes outside Battersea powerstation in London are probably the kind of thing that he is wanting. There old but they were there in the 40's. There used to be some just like it down in Shoreham harbour but they knocked it all down about 10 years ago.

The cranes in the foreground are still there although a little battered. I think you can get pretty near them too.

Not able to get there in short order, but the Maritime Museum in Liverpool has a large permanent exhibition about the Battle of the Atlantic and Liverpool's place in it.

I visited a couple of months ago but can't rememebr anything specific on cranes, but maybe if there's a community member who hails from there they could have a quick look/ask if there's something useful; it's free to get in.

The Bristol industrial museum has a 40s dock set up with large cranes on rails, railway sidings, and swan necked cranes. Anyone in Bristol able to get some reference from there?

I recommend Oleg browses here. (http://www.dockmuseum.org.uk/archive/browser.asp?subject=Engineering&title=Dock+Equipment+%26+Vessels&searchtype=1)

Lots of pictures of naval equipment, just look left and right. Awesome.

I have submitted a large number of pics relating to period RAF airfield installations. For modelling, pics from all angles are required as I understand.

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,

A crane at Chatham dockyard. I am assuming Oleg is modelling this dockyard as it is a major Naval base on the Thames so LW bombers will be flying over it on their way to London.

---------------------------------------
Shorts Factory at Rochester. Just a couple of miles along the river from Chatham Dockyard. The second picture just shows the context as the Factory would have been just off the bottom of the picture (the path ending in top left corner of factory shot is the path that can be seen across the field in the second)

Good pics!! especially from Major Setback.
Many of us have contributed time to find info and pictures for BOB SOW perhaps Oleg and company should consider picking 10 0r 20 contributors at random and passing out a few free discs as a means of showing appreciation to their loyal customers. It sure wouldnt hurt the company image at all, to contribute something back to such a helpful community.

Just a thought

Is there a concrete sound locator on the coast near Woodbridge, Suffolk? I've done a quick Google but without any success. If so I maybe able to take a few pics in the near future.

Best Regards,
MB_Avro.

There was a thread about these (I think there are a few along the coast) about a year ago. It included one or two pictures I think.
