At the beginning of AC2, you collect 3 feathers for Petruccio before the quest for all 100 even starts. When Ezio asks him why he wants them so badly, Petruccio says that he will tell him "in time."

I understand that later in the game, collecting feathers gets you a hammer and a cape, but Petruccio couldn't have possibly been referring to those. So what is the original purpose of the feathers and why was it a secret?

Well he was probably trying to beat Leonardo to his Flying Machine but apparently 3 feathers in his lifespan didn't cut it.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

Probably just kids and their little games they play senario. That or the purpose was a fancy Trophy/Achievement. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Well, he was confined to his bedroom due to whatever unnamed illness he had, so surely he wanted all those feathers to make his pillows and bed super, super comfy! Logic ftw. ^^;

I was actually just wondering about that too. (I'm playing the game a second time to do some of the stuff I missed) Also, we never learn what the note at the Pigeon coop for Giovanni said, did we?

I was wondering that too.

Though for some reason, the first thing to pop into my head was making a shuttlecock...

I guess that we will never find out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Maybe he wanted to do something like icharus, or do a custom eagle?

I was hoping once you get all the feathers you make magic wings for Petruccio and his spirit flies off into the sunset.
Happy ending. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Fly unto the sunset? Like the story of icharus? the kid that flew to close to the sun and got he's wings burned?

O.o

I wonder myself. I initially thought the feathers would all be sewn into a part of a new suit or the Auditore cape, which could have been interesting.

I will say that the scene which is triggered upon completion of the 100 feather quest is quite moving.

i think it adds more emotion to the story as since petruccio died, you will never know what he wanted to do with them. It would make Ezio miss him more

Yeah cool. That scene brought Maria's word-count for the whole game up to about... What? 20? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I have to admit, the Auditore cape disappointed me a bit. Y'know how it looks? Yeah...

Maybe before he lies in bed all day he goes the school. There he was bullied becouse of his weekness. There where about 100 children in his class. He need 100 feathers for the blood off everyone. Just like alair did. His hero.

Yeah, lol. Your post gave me the idea. I just randomly post what pops into my head after reading the other posts. I hope that is cool.

Who knows though. Maybe the feathers are special, and won't melt from the sun. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I think Giovanni tells him stories about Altairs exploits and the feathers were a symbol for the assassins. He probably liked those stories hence the feathers.

I thought that it would be the feathers that are used to verify that you killed the victim, like in AC1. Giovanni could have told Petruccio to collect them, but not say that he was an assassin.

Originally I thought it was going to be somethign stupid like you needed the feathers for Leonardos flying machine. God was I happy to be wrong.

Ezio: You never have told me what you need all these feathers for.

Petruccio: One day ill tell you big brother!

Later that week.

Town Hearld: Be on the look out for Petruccio Auditore da Firenze. He is wanted for the merceless slaying of one hundred classmates and was seen wiping blood from their dead bodies with feathers. A 100,000 florian reward being offered for any information leading to his capture.

Ezio: ....damn. Maybe I shouldnt have helped him all those times.

Here is the bit about the note from the book

"When he reached his goal he noticed some graffiti on the wall above and behind the coop. He was puzzled: was it recent or had he just never been aware of it before? Carefully inscribed was a line he recognised of the Book of Ecclesiastes: HE THAT INCREASETH KNOWLEDGE INCREASETH SORROW. A little below this someone had written in a ruder script: WHERE IS THE PROPHET?

But soon his mind returned to his task. He reconized the pidgeon he was after instantly - it was the only one with a note attached to its leg. He detached it quickly and gently placed the bird back on its ledge, then he hesitated. Should he read the note? It wasn't sealed. Quickly he unrolled the little scroll and found it contained nothing but a name - that of Francesco de' Pazzi. Ezio shrugged. He supposed that would mean something more to his father than it did to him. Why the name of Vieri's father and one of the possible conspirators in a plot to topple the Duke of Milan - facts already known to Giovanni - should be of further significance was beyond him. Unless it signified some kind of confirmation."

me personaly think that the feathers idea would be put to better use if they would use the feathers to make a cape that would make you glide down like a parachute if you would hold the tips of it,collecting 100 feathers that is really really difficult for a hammer ok..but for a auditore cape that makes everyone try to kick the crap out of you its a bit unfair, they allready do that enough allready iin the game, you dont need a cape for that...

Poor litlle Petruccio, I can't forget his face when they killed him. And yet, in the end, Ezio's decision regarding the spaniard's life...... I would have done it the other way.
