p1ngu666, thanks.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

That must explain why anytime I got near the cockpit area of the template I kept looking for various shades of pink. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

(or maybe I was trying to subconciously avoid a copyright/patent issue)

Tony, thanks for the compliment and the correction.

They did have a Battle (K9331) that was a test-bed for the Bristol Taurus TE1M radial engine during 1939

Quite true. In fact the Kate looks more like the Vultee than the Faiery Battle. However there is a Vultee or two already up at Flying Legends. Besides, a well known campaign maker asked for this one as I beleive he's making a Battle of France campaign.
Thanks for the great links though.

ARCHIE_CALVERT;

I did not know that. Is there a pic you could link to? I'd be very interested. I could make a more authentic skin.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply anything, I just added that post as a curio. I don't think that that vultee even went into production. There were others though; Vultee A-19:

The Battle continued to serve in a rear line role as a test bed aircraft; including testing the Hercules radial engine.

Here's a link to a colour model:

Should bridge the gap for its, it is quite similar, especially from a decent distance.
At least till BoB?

As for the B6N1, was that on the flyables list for the next patch or no?

No offence taken. The A-19 looks like a WWII version of a strech limo mod to an AT-6 Texan.

DmdSeeker-
Thanks for the link. I wonder how much of the underside is yellow? I might give this a go.

MrBlueSky-
Don't worry about quality. Any historical reference will be appreciated.

Woofiedog-
Give me until the weekend, I'll get you your set.

Thanks to everyone for your interest and kind words.

Vultee's first customer for the V-11-G and V-11-GB was the Chinese National Government which ordered 30 V-11-Gs. The Soviet Union ordered one, and the Turkish government ordered 40 V-11-GBs, while Brazil took 26 V-11-GBs.
But tragedy struck when Vultee and his wife were killed in an air crash in Arizona while en-route to Washington, D.C. in January 1938. He was succeeded as president and general manager of the Vultee plant by Richard Palmer who became chief engineer in 1940, and the plant was named Vultee Aircraft. A new plane known as the V-12-C was ordered by the Chinese who took 26 in 1939. And the U.S. government ordered training planes in a contract worth $2,986,000 with Vultee in August of the same year. The plant was redesigned to meet the new production demands.

The decals offer markings for just about every country that flew the V-11. The Chinese example seen on the boxtop is from 14 Squadron, out of Hankow in 1939. In addition to this plane, there is a Turkish example, camouflaged in a medium green over polished aluminum. The markings for this plane are simple, being nothing more than the Turkish national markings on the wings and rudder. The final option is a Brazilian plane, finished in overall aluminum. This one is a bit more colorful, with a lightning bolt cheatline in addition to the standard Brazilian national markings. The decals are well printed with good color density and registration.

The Soviet Union, actually recieved 2 V-11. To be specific, one V-11G and one V-11GB.
Besides this, the Soviet Union have also bought a license on this aircraft type, along with a number of spare parts to assembly 50 aircraft. There were plans to produce at least 500 of this planes, which had to replace R-5Sh and R-Z attack planes. However, according to the various sources, there were only about 38 or 50 of this aircraft produced in the USSR under army designation "BSh-1". The plane was equipped with M-62IR engine. But army wasn't satisfied with it's performance and the design was removed from production and all available planes were diverted to a civil service under the designation "PS-43".
The planes were used as mail and liason until September 1945 thoughout the country, when the last one was written off due to it's age. Several were lost to an enemy action, while serving in this roles.
Only one PS-43 was used in combat (in USSR) as bomber, in 1941, during the defence of Odessa. Along with 4 IL-2 and one ex-Yugoslavian SM-79 it was included into additional bomber/attack squadron within the 69th IAP. It survived the operation, but was crashlanded at Crimea, in the end of it's flight from Odessa and written off.
