Ive heard that there is an expanstion pack on the way, not too clear wether there will be a 1.4 patch. Personaly i would be happy to pay for an expanstion pack if our old favourite Milkcows and wolfpacks were included, and mabey a couple of other bug fixes etc, any way sounds promising hope it does not take too long to complete, i am sure that UBI know that a good expanstion pack would be purchased by all us SHII Captains out here. Nice to hear that UBI are doing this, keeep up the good work!

Judging by how much the game sold, I think its a pretty safe bet they will be an expansion....
No details yet though.

Im quite happy to pay for bug fixes so long as theres a whole load of new content and features, to create yet more bugs to be fixed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Is there anywhere obvious for the game to expand to? I think it'd be disappointing to have just a few added ship types and extra missions bolted on.

The only kind of expansion pack that makes sense to me is a Destroyer Commander add-on, as has been done in the past. (Which game was that?)

And of course making the destroyers playable would necessitate adding wolfpacks, and AI for U-boats, so that the destroyers would have an opponent. U-boat AI would also allow for British subs to appear in game, I think.

Then SHIII would have all the parts in place. At least, that's what I'm hoping for.

Since SHIV is most likely to be a Pacific Threatre game, I don't see any other possibilities for the SHIII add-on.

Silent Hunter IV, perhaps would be about cold war. Russian nuclear submarines. I think that its a possibility. It would be great.

They already have a name for this. It is called Massively Multiplayer Online Games.

Christian talks of an add-on at the end of their interview (http://news.softpedia.com/news/Softpedia-News-talks-with-the-creators-of-Silent-Hunter-III-2142.shtml), but doesn't say anything beyond that they'll work on it after patch 1.3. He speaks of 1.3 in the future tense, so I'm still hopeful that after rolling it out, they've reprioritized the expansion for after 1.4 (or at least a 1.31).

Personally I've played only one mission since upgrading to 1.3. Until, for example, my sonar man and I are speaking terms again, I've put the game on the shelf. If an expansion pack hits the store shelves before at least a bug fix-only patch comes out, I'll know just how different the devs'/producers' priorities are from mine, and their expansion can collect dust on the store shelf while my SHIII CD collects dust on mine for the rest of eternity.
