That to get the most out of PF i'll need to install it seperately to FB/ACE.
I think this subject may have been brought up before (if it has I apologise), will the netcode for PF (standalone) be different to the combo of PF/FB/ACE, if this is true it will be a pain in the **** in HL (looking for compatible games) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif.

If you mean separate from FB/ACE: You're wrong. Or not. I don't know. But you can regard this as a bump and maybe someone who does know will come by http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Edit: Wohoo! 1000+ posts http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Now I might get some respect around here.. probably not though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

How about installing in both directories- wiht AEP and separately and then checking which one is better. And uninstalling the worst one or keeping it as you wish.

You do not need FB/AEP to install PF as a pure Pacific Fighters sim. However, if you want the maps an plane-sets from FB/AEP, you have to have it installed, then add PF as a patch.
With that said, you'll still be able to install a pure Pacific Fighters version on the same hard drive and have the option to join either server at will. How Ubi.com and HL will separate them is unclear, but my guess is they'll have them listed as separate games once you long in. i.e.

IL-2 FB/AEP

IL-2 FB/AEP/PF

Pacific Fighters

You'll be able to move to differen types of servers very much like I do when I switch from IL-2 to LOMAC.
Keep in mind that PF files can go into the FB/AEP/PF games, but not the other way around. That will keep Pacific Fighters pure for use history buffs.

What is your reasoning behind this? Why would a seperate install of PF be superior to PF installed on top of FB?

I can only think of limitations if you had FB but installed PF seperately,

I think it's quite the contrary. You won't get the Ki-84 for use for PF if you install it separately.

That's exactly how I feel, sugaki.

Take for instance one thing I want to do when i get PF:

make a P-40 campaign. Yeah, I know, I never finished my other campaign. but I'm great at starting them!

So I could start with a Hawk 81 or P-40B, then go to a P-40C, then to the E....but without FB, how could I get a P-40E?

Also, remember how we used to substitute one aircraft for another because a plane wasn't available? Well, you're limiting the planes you can choose from if you install PF seperately from FB.

I can't see the logic in that

he gave his reasoning that the netcode of a seperate install might be different, as you can see, however i agree that id rather have more planes

Looking for compatible games was the reasoning? Then that assumes everyone else will install PF exactly the way he has installed PF, doesn't it? So again, I ask: what's the reasoning, just like I originally did. Is the normal operating procedure going to be: install PF seperately from FB? It seems like he thinks it might be, hence his question. So I'd like to know the reason behind his thinking on that.

It seems to me that the standard install will be: PF over FB, not PF and FB seperately. So what makes it logical that the two would be seperate? Most players will only have PF now? Most players won't get PF now? What? I don'y play online much at all, but can't planesets be rigidly enforced anyway?

The BSS will be flying pure PF servers mostly, but from time to time we'll get goofy and fly on all-around servers just for kicks.

Poor Chuck... Struggling to keep his voice heard in the midst of all this pandemonium... Trying his hardest to not be silenced and forgotten... Fighting an uphill battle like "The Little Engine That Could"... Yet no one understands him. . .

You could make a fortune if you sold the movie rights to Warner Brothers or something.

The FAA used Corsairs for cover during the attacks on the Tirpitz. They didn't meet anything, but it at least makes the "Corsair vs. Fw 190" a viable scenario...
