My number one rig has the Gainward 7900 GS and no trouble with that. I'm now thinking upgrading my second rig. Money is an object in this project so what would suggest is the most inexpensive AGP video card that is likely to handle perfect mode?

err. depends on the rig...

Yup. My old P4 2.8 with a 6800Ultra would run it but not in playable frames depending on other settings (i.e. AA, AF, res). However, my P4 3.4 would run it pretty well with the same VC.

My E6700 screams in comparison...regardless of what VC I use.

Okei, let's forget the perfect. What would be a cheap (< 50 €) AGP VC that would put out some improvement from the preset card which is Ati 9200?

I'd say look at the X1600 for ATI or a 7600GT for NV. They might be a bit over the 50 euro mark (not sure of the exchange rate) but a nice improvement over the 9200.

If you want to stick with ATI, I'd suggest something in the x1650 line or for NVIDIA something in the 6600 or 6800 series. Most of the above mentioned cards can be had in the $50.00 to $75.00 price range in an AGP interface. You may not have great frames in Perfect mode, but you can most likely run maxed in Excellent, depending on cloud type.

FYI, my recent conversion shows 50 euro = about 70 USD.

I'm not sure you can break into the GeForce 7600 series for under $100.00 for an AGP card new. Maybe EBay though and a used card.

Dude, I've had it for about 6 months now and run it on air at 3.2 every day. I only have a 7950GX2 VC in it and get incredible performance.

Watcha waitin' for?

I ran perfect mode with ease back when I had a TI4600 and then a 9800Pro. You will have no problem running it as long as your not running 1680x1050 or something. Keep the res low and be easy on the AA it should be no problem. You could pick up a 6800XT over at newegg.com for 69 bucks and it would run IL2 just fine.

Yeah, that's what I keep asking myself. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

However, my current rig still runs V4.08 very well for me and allows me to enjoy this game online considerably. I'm most definitely going to be in a new rig by early next year though, as I prepare this one as a hand-me-down for the family to replace their current rig. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
