What is that freak show??? and P47 with Allison engine??? looks like a stranded whale....seriosly....

P47 was known for the fact that it could fly with several pistons shot to pices, it could take a hell of a beating (pardon the language)
and take a nefty loadout....

*edit*
Two "XP-47Hs" were built. They were major reworkings of existing razorback P-47D to accommodate a Chrysler XI-2220-11 water-cooled inline 16-cylinder inverted vee engine. Really big inline engines didn't prove to be a good idea, and the XP-47H went nowhere.

found some great P47 info on:

She is beautiful.

I wonder how the D would look with the Alison engine.

Looks like something the Russians would do, a la MiG-3.

Speaking about the letter H, how about that P-51H?

P-47N and P-51H- what a combination that would be...

No P-51Hs!!!! That's a real uberplane. And we can't have that! No P-51Hs, No F4U-4s, and NO F8Fs!

It is clear that not only is PF not going to have atomics, but the campaign will allow the course of the entire war to be altered. Thus it makes sense to have the 1945 (maybe early-mid 1946) planes that would certainly have been in combat barring the A-bombs.

Though I do believe categorically they take second priority to the planes that historically fought between 1942 and VJ-day.

...but only for the Axis! I repeat! No P-51H! No P-47M! No Tempest II! No F4U-4! No fixing the torque on the P-38! No F8F! And absolutely no Sea Fury!

cheers

P-47 H would be a poor choice for this sim.

Now Superbolt would be a differant story.
the Superbolt would make the D-24 look like a brewster strung out on crack as far as perfomance is conserned. and fire power...
it came with 2 flavors...8-M2 .50's or 6 M4 37mm. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

3 aircraft we will never see in this sim:
P-47M
P-47N
P-51H

P-51H never saw combat...ever BTW. I didn't know that till very recently. I had assumed that it would have saw service in Korea. But it didn't apparently...

I'd go for a new Jug...heck a D-30 with HVAR attachments and tail fillet would be fine!

Yes, no more **** supertypes, please!...even if I love them, they have no place here...

P51Hs were used by ANG units in USA, but the 51Ds were used to korea due to its ability to lift ordinance, which the H could not do...I can only imagine how easy the wing in the lightened, thin skinned H would snap in FB, given how easy the D will do it, hehehe

Tail fillets in Jugs started with the D25 series...we should already have it with our D27s...but thats as likely to happen as getting the paddle prop fir the D22

The "Superbolt", ASAIK, was a field-modified P47D razorback series, a unit of the 56th...
They remoived 4 of the 8 guns and gave it a special polish, carefully filling in all seams...they did this to provide extra performance vs 109s at alt

Supposedly made quite a difference, but was found too difficult to keep the level of surface finish intact to bother continuing the practice

Pfft. Let's just get rid of US planes altogether. I mean, they are ugly, and they are evil.

What? The P-51H entered service in 1945! It's not like a Go 229 or anything. A couple of months more and it would have been fighting.

But before anyone does those, there's a huge priority list of other stuff that needs to be done, starting with a flyable Ki-44 Shoki.

Good point,

However, we can't have 45 campaign without some actual 1945 American planes.

Besides, the BF109Z never even flew and its in the game, wich it shouldn't be.

The P-51H did fly and was used in some missions.

Can we get a upgrade for the 109Z?? Just curious since it served with distinction. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

To the guy who said fix the torque on the P38. Bravo and I agree 100%

I read that the Jug was in service with the Air National Guard until 1953. I'm surprised that they didn't send any to Korea - it would have pounded some serious communist *** into the ground.

I'm surprised no one has asked yet.... That thing got a Hemi? (Actually it does. The Chrysler XI-2220-11 was the companie's first engine with a hemispherical combustion chamber.)

HangerQueen, IIRC, the Guard Jugs were all on the east coast, and dedicated to the European theater. The west coast units were committed to the Pacific, and so went to Korea, despite not being the best choice of ground pounding platforms.

Stop whining, start modeling.
It is not an anti-US conspiracy by Oleg, actually he is modeling US-planes better than they were, he said so several times.

109Z, YP-80, Bl-1 are in the game, because someon did not whine but worked on them!

Giganoni

I agree, no late model US planes, just Japanese planes. The Shinden the Reppu and the Kikka. Oh yeah and they also get Mecha-Godzilla made from Space Titanium. I just hope Oleg fixes the dispersion of those laser eyes!

Snootles, remember one thing about PF and flying a Campaign. Just got word from Oleg on this about PF.

Once you drop "The" bomb, PF automatically uninstalls and you will have to reinstall once the smoke clears. Make sure you backup anything you want to save.

I fear nothing in my Il2 3M! The mere sight of the muzzle flashes of those mighty NS 37 cannon will send Godzilla fleeing before me!
