Got it today and it's pretty impressive. I ran IL-2 in 1920x1200 (Dell's native resolution) on my P4 2.8GHz w/ ATI X850 Pro. It was OK but jerky ocassionally. Since Dell's aspect ratio is 16:10 as opposed to regular 16x9, I'm not sure what resolution to use. What are some of the lower resolutions for 16:10?

Well, I think for best image quality, you should use either the native 1920x1200, or go to a 4:3 resolution and turn off monitor scaling. For example, 1600x1200 would work fine on that monitor with black bars at the sides, but you will get the full field of view that the game offers.

If you really want to go with a lower resolution 16:10, then get out your calculator. You'll have to manually edit the conf.ini file anyhow. Ummm, 1600x1000 springs to mind, 1280x800, etc., but I really don't think you'll be happy with the image quality unless you turn off monitor scaling and live with a black border around the display.

Thats all very interesting, but can we see some photos of the setup with the game running?

I use the 1900 X 1200 and have no trouble and like the wider look

I run in 16:10 mode at 1280x768 (My monitor's native resolution). I guess that if you tried that res, or any res lower than your native res it'll be blurry, so I guess you're probably stuck with 1920x1200 or 1600x1200 with the black bars on each side.

Here's a the 109 cockpit requested. This isn't 1920x1200, it's 1280x768 (screenshot reduced to 800x480), but it is in the 16:10 aspect ratio. No distortion or stretching (image scaling is turned OFF) no black border.

A small portion of the top and bottom of the normal 4:3 image is cropped off by the game when you set up widescreen mode properly (as properly as it can be in this game). The image is enlarged to fill the screen to the sides, but top and bottom are clipped to give the 16:10 aspect ratio, so although you lose a bit of viewing area, everything is somewhat enlarged. When you look at this picture, bear in mind that it's 30" from corner to corner as I'm seeing it in gameplay, so it's pretty freakin huge.

I too have the Dell 24in Widescreen at 1920X1200. It is pretty spectacular. I do notice the change in field of view, but after trying it in 1600X1200, I found that I preferred its native resolution.
