Hi, I really like the cockpit of this plane but I have some serious trouble landing it - my guess is the front wheel thats make the plane jump like crazy. Every landing ends after some pretty funny looking jumps with the engine destroyed. I've tried to land her at about 140 and flaring but somehow its not like in other planes.

Could someone give some hints, i.e. max. speed for touch down. Should I flare? What about the descent rate?

i dont usually flare in the p 39. your speed sounds about right (i fly the Q - 10 mostly though) make sure you have your flaps down and it should just come to a nice rest.

keep a low angle of attack as well

make sure to never land off the runway or the thing will prop strike, just keep practicing.

The p39 i hit landing flaps 0 trottle and land on the back wheels first

Flaring always helps but just make sure you don't do it too early or too high. You don't want to drop too hard and have your gear break or anything like that. If you don't want to try and flare then you can try full flaps and 20-30% throttle at about 160 kmh and come down nice and easy and it should work out alright.

It seems you are coming in too slow and stalling just prior to touchdown. 140 is very slow unless you are a very good pilot, try coming in with takeoff flaps and a speed of 160 - 180, flare slightly, and when the rear wheels touch, throttle to zero and slowly lower the nose. With the nose off the ground, this will create a bit of drag and help to slow you down as well. Good luck

If your bouncing at 140 km/h. It sounds like your coming in at too steep on an angle.

Come is at more of a shallow angle, and maybe slightly faster. When your over the runway, just kill the throttle slowly, put the gunsight at the end of the runway, hole the elevator in one spot, and let the plane sink down by itself. If you do it right you will barely feel it touch down.

Then slam on the brakes, because they stink.

Line up final from about 10km out or so @ 300kmh @ 150/200m

Throttle Back change PP too 0 lower combat flaps lower gear

glide in wheels should cross threshhold @ or near 200kmh

apply full flaps & let her touch down eazy

I'm going to have to disagree w that. You want your PP set @ 100% on landing. If something should go wrong you need to be able to apply full power and apply it quickly. Simply idling the throttle will reduce the RPM's enough.
