View Full Version : Would you like to have a Nordic-Myth-inspired faction in Heroes VI?

The "Nordic-Myth" faction is meant as a possible replacement for the Dwarfs faction from Heroes V.

Many people like Dwarfs. They are really fun.
But according to some views, the Fortress faction from Heroes V was boring because it actually had a single unit (except the dragon, of course) "dressed-up" in many ways.

On the poll about having a Dwarf faction in Heroes VI, a faction inspired form Nordic Myth, with one, MAYBE two dwarf units, was brought up as a proposition.

I think that's an excellent idea, so I started this poll.

Total, 100%, no 150% behind you there.
Bring on Dwarves + a crap ton of additional awesome.

Course maybe that's partially because I helped spark the idea. :P

Voted yes, but I'd raise the number of Dwarves to 3-4 since I can't imagine they'd have that many creatures (fairly isolated).

Well, give em the following:

Trolls (key part of norse myth)
Einherjar (could be ancestral ghostly dwarven warriors)
Jotunn (Norse Giants)
Wolves (Garm and Fenrir for example are norse mytholigcal wolves.)
Boars (Hildisvin, Freya's boar or Gulllinbursti the golden boar of Freyr.)
Valkyrie (I'd say, cast them as some kind of fiery angelic creature, servant to the fire dragon.)

Could also throw in some non-Norse stuff like...
Yeti.
Oreads.
Or the return of the much loved Behemoth from Heroes III.

Not a shortage of creatures that could fit the town by any stretch.

I think i would like that faction more than fortress wich was copy/paste dwarf. I can live with 1 basic dwarf unit or maybe max 2.

But i would rather see this faction on last addon really... so many other factions i would rather see first.

And Haven is pretty much just copy/paste humans. IMO the reason Fortress was so bad was because the lineup was a total shambles (a bear at tier 3, but a naked guy at tier 4?), not because virtually every creature was a dwarf.

exatly lets have one race be copy pasted and with humans makes sense... but if we continue this trend than you can take any creature and make its own castle... well maybe it will be interesting to have 30 castles to choose from... but balance is mistery to me...

We're not discussing haven here, and I think most of us have given up on Haven getting any creature more interesting then a gryphonn.
Haven has always been like that, a bit bland.
Just because (in my opinion) Haven sucks doesn't mean the Dwarf town should.

I'm from Sweden and I approve of this. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Though it could be a bit heavy on the "might" part of "might and magic", but that should be fine.

Agreed, although it should be nissur, not nisser. You lot have been too influenced by the Danish, forgetting how the olden ways are http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

So what's Nissur, because as far as I can find quickly, it's a lake in Telemark.

As you see, even Wikipedia gets the name wrong: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomte
