View Full Version : How to get rid of British radio chatter (on all missions)

04-02-2005, 03:19 PM
Whenever I play AEP/PF, in addition to the radio voices that go with the mission, I always get British voices also. This happens for all mission types, USSR, German etc.

I think it started after I downloaded and installed a British campain for Forgotten Battles a while ago.

In case anyone recognises the voices, some of the phases are "at the corner of the road there is a large white sided building ...." and "thats a confirmed kill ...". Its burned into my memory, I hear it so often!

Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

I had the same problem and there was an easy answer somewhere in the forum (too bad the search function is always broken) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Go in the sound settings in the options, there is a switch for inflight tracks somewhere, this will fix it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

In your start menu click on the UBIsoft, then setup. Sound tab. Make sure use radio chatter and auto activation are both unchecked.

Just disable 'inflight music' and 'takeoff music' or delete the contents of your "samples\Music\InFlight" folder and your "samples\Music\TakeOff" folder

Extreme_One, come on, take the blame. After all, it was your BoB campaign that put them in there in the first place!

If you go into "conf.ini" file -do a search for it using Windows search function in start menu-there is a section on lots of options including radio chatter and the display of the spoken words on screen.Turning these off gives a useful increase in frame rate .Basically 1 or 0 is on or off-not sure which is which-it can vary.Theres a lot of stuff you can mess around with in there ,but common sense says save a copy or at least change one thing at a time.

Go to il2fb-pf\samples\music\takeoff and inflight and crash......and remove the files there, the one you mention is RAF TakeOFF.wav.

Download this tiny script I wrote reading the "readme" first and IL2FBwav.exe .....and place those sound files you have in the appropriate slots then in IL2FBwav.exe build the appropriate sound stores (is all very very easy to do).

Then download chatter files you'll find for all nations....Then you'll have the correct chatter files for most primary nationalities at your command.

Chatter pack bandaid (http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/FB/files/essentials/ChatterBandaid2.zip)

IL2FBwav.exe (http://pauke.ee.ethz.ch:8732/oberstguncam/Misc/IL2FBwav.zip)

Where did I say "it's not my fault" ???

In the readme and on the pages the campaign was downloaded from there was this statement:-

<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>PLUS* ???????? ENABLE inflight and take-off MUSIC for aural (NOT oral!) pleasure!
(THX-1138s secret project -It's not what you're expecting!)[/list]

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Silly me - prescribing the vast majority with enough nouse to be able to work out what I was referring to.

"If I need to enable music for a 'surprise' then perhaps disabling it will reverse the effect of the surprise..."

It's not you Boosher, I think he is needling those who fail to read the ever present "Read-me!". It is quite amusing that most questions about user created campaigns (& many 1C functions)have their answer already listed there. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
