Seriously, all of these console flying games are so disgusting. Flying without a joystick or a yoke? Then you arent flying at all! This is a blasphemy to even think about releasing a combat flight sim on a console, let alone with out a gosh-darned joystick!

How the hell are you supposed to do anything without a stick and throttle? It's not real flight. Im sick and tired of playing against people in them and losing, and them thinking that they could actually beat me at something REALISTIC.

I just had to vent http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

I am a console owner and I do play my share of console games. I happen to like some console flight games, despite their ridiculously easy FMs, and I'm with fordfan on wishing they were more realisitc. I've played Crimson Skies, Secret Weapons over Normandy, Ace Combat series as well as Heroes of the Pacific. I can tell you, out of all those games, the Ace Combat series were probably my favorite (at least missiles did the right amount of damage and didn't take like 10 hits to score a kill).

The thing about consoles is it is nice to be able to have a few friends over and play some games with out everyone having to lug over their PC, monitor, flight sticks, each have a copy of the game, etc. Sure, nothing beats the PC experience/power, but I still like console games.

Over G fighters looks promising, so I have my eye on it, as well as Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII (http://www.ubi.com/US/Games/Info.aspx?pId=4314). Supposedly its using the Il2 engine or something, I don't recall if they chose it, but it looks to be pretty promising after the failure of Heroes of the Pacific (I actually bought that game thinking it was going to be good, only to be extremely annoyed with the "boss" ace battles in which all the Japanese aces spoke with French accents).

Why are you complaining about them? You're obviously not going to buy it. Some people may not like getting into totally realistic flight sims. And they do have joystick's, they are just those little tiny thumb-joysticks on the controller.

good thing they pop up, they are bound to make people interested in flying and some of them will find their way to our "world"http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Dude...they are console flight games. Its not a hardcore simulation...its meant to be fun and entertaining...not challenging and accurate. Accept them for what they are...and accept the fact that its probably not for you.

You can get joysticks to fly them with too. Just as you bought a joystick for your PC, you can buy one for a gaming console.

Console games are for the spitfire, yak, la7..etc pilots of IL2. Real pilots fly the ME109 and FW190's http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Dude let them be what they are. We have this sim and the next one don't we? We all need to be much more grateful at these simple flying games because a lot of the people who pick them up will be flying online with us in the future. These are the gateway to the hardcore genera. Be patient and don't critisize people who play these and buy them without knowing better.... they will come.

I remember ace combat, well the first one. The first- probably the only one I could be bothered to- console game I finished. 3/4 in the bag, watching the end sequence... Can still recall the music.

I sympathise with this bit. Pretty much the same goes with Battlefield 2. You go online and get panned by someone flying along in a totally unreal chopper or Jet, then say "You NOOB! You can`t fly!" or something similar, and you think, "Call this flying? Take me online in any plane of your choosing and i`d pan your ***!"

That`s if they could even take off! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Flight sim consoles are fun to a certain degree....such as up to age 12. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sleepzzz.gif Kidding aside, they are fun just to let steam off.

However, I hate it when simulators are ruined such as the case with the new Panzer Elite Action for the game consoles. JoWood ruined it by turning an awesome tank simulator into a point a shoot arcade game. If you ever go to the game's forum, you'll find a lot of upset folks.

I have never played a console game, ever. Not no way, not no how. By the way, what is a console game anyway??

Mark my words. Someone is going to come out with a box with USB ports and the ability to load drivers. problem solved. I think 360 already has USB ports right? It is just a matter of time.

Wings was pure genius !! We spent hours with my friend trying to finish the game with the same pilot, being scared every time we saw a balloon-busting mission because Archie was really accurate and deadly http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Great great fun !!
