yesterday i dared to go online for the first time and boy do i need training. in any case. everyone i played with was friendly and welcoming (even when i stalled).
what can i say , i got my first online kill. thank you unkown in the FW who crashed into me. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif gosh the IL2 is sturdy.
delivering torpedos to sink the german ships was a blast.

one question which is more a general question though:
is there a way to map the mouse look to the head switch ?
all i get with the head switch is the snap or pan view at the moment. i am in a lecture at the moment so i cant look up the key assignments. it is just a thing that bugged me all day.

well , mainly what it comes down to is me just trying to be polite and thanking you all for a fabulous time last night

it is mapped already,= pan view!
But this function is to slow in movement and unprecise compared to normalview. I use the mouse to look around when flying level and by rolling alittle now and then u get a great field of vision. If u want u can make mouse look faster by changing mousesensitivity in settings.

(Warning dont set sesitivity to "0"(zero) because u wont be able to move ur mouse anymore.)If it is set to 1.0 u can try 1.5 or 2.0= u look around faster.

I never use mouselook in combat though.

AND welcome to Greater green /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

MANY friendlies there, even the enemy.

Only time players use fowl language is when they have crashed due to lag.(a post patch issue soon solved)

A good tip is to stay close to friendlies all the time if possible. sometimes the enemy ├╝ber aces team up and u will only cope with it with some difficulty. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Another is when u cant shake the enemy from ur six and u really want some help.

1. dont fly head on with a friendly because he will loose all his energy if he try turn after u, instead drag ur bandit with u left or right in time before u pass your friendly, that way he will end up behind ur foe and u will also bleed some speed in your turn wich makes it easy for the friend to catch up.

same goes when u are chased and afriendly is chasing your bandit, dont make hard turns , instead do wave like manouvers and barrel rolls ,otherwise u are on your own. (if not the friendly is an ace.)( sometimes though u have to turn= when u notice that your friendly constantly misses the bandit.)

If u are chased and u see friendlies in the distance u can alert them and reveal your position by shooting( even if they dont see your plane they see flashes and tracers and may come to investigate( hope they are not enemies)(this method was used in real life.

IF u are damaged or out of ammo try not to act like it your enemy might not be aware of this.I have chased enemies
from the tails of friendlies many times without ammo and even stressed them into the ground.

or do as u like!

see u online/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Thanks for the kind remarks about greatergreen. Much effort has gone (and still goes) into making it a fun, challenging online experience.

It certainly can be tough if you're new to the online battles. Stick with it and get a wingman. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

If you go to the greatergreen forum, one of our squadmates (Madoka) has posted a solution to mapping mouse-look. Check it out.
