i refuse to pay 200 bucks for trackIR, i have a webcam and cam2pan, i think it works best with a lLED or some kind of sticker or something

how much would a sticker cost? and where online ( link ? ) can i buy it, a reflection sticker or something shouldn't cost more than like 4 bucks right?

Freetrack is the way to go, all you need is an LED, or an IR LED if you want it to work in sunlight. If you have 3 or 4 LED you can get 6DOF for most games.

Good for you! The last thing we want is to reward someone for coming up with a good idea and then seeking to make a profit out of it! This is the sort of disgusting behaviour that has led to the incredible prosperity and choice that we now suffer from! Worse still, because of this so called profit motive, some ex-commie bugger developed this flight sim, called IL2 Sturmovik and what all know the result of this unconscionable carry-on! You go girl!

DON`T get TIR.

Really. If you can, save your money and find a cheaper, better alternative.

Truth to tell, I would never have been able to afford TIR, but I worked like crazy making art and got paid for my efforts with a gift of TIR4, otherwise i`d still be on TIR1... or a mouse.

Also, I don`t actually care to try and convince you! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

You do what you can.. a man in your position doesnt have $200 laying around so you have to make due.... but the good thing is there are alternativews and you are actively seeking them.

EBay...

A TrackIR 3 Pro with TrackHat went for $50 on Friday. Now, that's a deal any way you cut it and a far cry from $200.

LOL...If I'd never tried TrackIR and someone told me it was $200, I'd say the same thing. But at this point, if my TIR went out on me and the only way I could replace it was with a $200 unit...I'd start saving. Yeah, it's that good.

If you cannot afford TiR4 then Freetrack is the best alternative. All you need is a webcam, an led set up, and the free software.

Good for you!

For the TIR you don't just get a reflective sticker or clipon, you get the software to run TIR, the cool tracker that sits on your computer monitor, and the sticker/clipon. I think that's worth more than $4.

But check Ebay, Amazon, just about any auction place... You'll find a TrackIR for far less than $200.

If my TIR4 with Track Clip Pro died I'd write the check tomorrow.

I'll never fly, or drive, without it.

Would one of the many Track Clip Pro owners be kind enough to post dimensions of said device? Most importantly is the relative position of the LEDs.

I use Cam2pan with a webcam and LED and it works very well.

For an LED the best solution that I have found is one of those USB LED lights.

Basicly it's a male to female USB socket with a coloured light built in. People normaly use them to help locate the right USB socket round the back of the computer - it should cost about 1$.

Then I attach a normal USB extension cable to my flying helmet and the light plugs into that.

Then within Cam2pan select flashlight mode.

If you need help tuning or setup drop me a message on the 69.GIAP forums - just click on my badge to access website.
