I am so frustrated with them. I stalk and stalk and son of a biscuit he comes jumps right in front of my sights and takes my kill.
just happened now in an offline campaign el alamein.
I was so P.O.ed I killed him.
Is there a command that keeps them out of the oatmeal.
should I say wingman cover maybe instead of squad attack all?

About the only thing to do is to tell him to re-join formation...

Friendly A.I. can seem pretty weak at times http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Never order wingman to attack enemy planes; in fact don't order him anything he will cover your six and he will do that just fine. I have been saved by my wingman numerous times. He will stay with you all the way untill someone fires at his six; he will break then but will also shout "this is two get him of me!". So you better save him http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

And yes once when separated if there are enemies around I order Ai wingman to cover me; that way he will regroup. If there are no enemies around I just order rejoin or tight formation (be careful about tight formation & changing formation because it does not work well with bombers for instance -- in several occasions my Ai G4M's were run into each other after that command).

If you're flying as a lower rank, there is nothing you can do but grin and bear it. Or....

That big, fat Spitfire wingie traveling through your sights at 100 meters is sure an inviting target...

Sometimes an AI takes my kill, but usually not. I just say, `Well, as long as we`re winning.` I doesn`t happen enough to worry me.

I did have one case where I set an enemy AI on fire and smoking, then my an Ally came straight in and took his wing off! I thought, typical, (although I noticed he never said his customary `I got one`). To my surprise when I got back to base I was awarded the kill! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I do what Dash C does. If you have command of your flight, have your guys rejoin until your quary augers in.

You gotta be careful, though. If they rejoin with bandits around they may get shot down and now your all alone! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

What about AI wingmen that insist on maintaining formation with you, even as you are setting up a landing approach. On several occasions, this behaviour has killed me as a result of:

a) midair collision
b) wingman hitting the ground nearby and resulting explosion taking me out as well.

I've tried setting a landing waypoint in the mission, ordering 'Return to base', but nothing seems to do the trick. What's the secret? Does it work on certain maps and not others?

If you have command, you just keep ordering a spread formation. Do it 2 or 3 times and he will be out of your way. If you have a lower rank, you can suddenly gun your throttle and veer away during approach.

dbillo,

I'm not a mission builder, so I don't know the answer to that.

I do know that in the missions I have "flown", a "return to base" command before I get lined up with the airstrip works pretty well. Typically, I use RTB when I can land within 3-5 minutes.

If I give a RTB too early the AI will be trying to land when I do. If I give a RTB too late then I've got problems again!

Happened to me too @ SF. I started to observe the 'phenomenon' (in arcade mode) and I came up to logical conclusion that it only happens when enemy gets PKed... after that kill is awarded to one that PKed him no matter what happen afterwards.

You can also command "___ Flight, Break" assuming you have command over the particular flight to which the kill-stealing AI belongs, and they usually break it off.
