Well not much to be said. This will be my first original skin. It sucks right now, but I am still not even done with the rivits. I have a long way to go. For now, I will put my efforts into finishing the P-38 pit and external and then finish the P-63. Here is a taste of whats awaiting you at my home page at http://www.gibbageart.com

A question about the cockpit: Does the cockpit have the 'cowling' mounted guns (.50's?) protruding into it as does the P39 (and early P40's)? If so, do the .50's have an extended barrel (maybe my eyes aren't so good at judging distance)?

I would assume this would have a positive effect on ballistics. Just a curiosity, not expecting Oleg to model multiple barrel lengths for the .50s http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Why do you torment us?!?!? LOL j/k Well done Gib. Always a pleasure to see your work. Now if only I could get ya to model a Wildcat/Martlet and a carrier if and when we get the Normandy/English channel maps. I'd actually pay for that bird and a boat to land her on.

"About 300 P-63s were turned into RP-63 flying targets for dogfight practice with frangible bullets. All armor and armament were removed from these planes, and a skin of duralumin protected the wings, fuselage and tail. Bulletproof glass was installed, steel grilles were put over the air intake, and a steel sleeve protected the exhaust stacks. A propeller with thick, hollow blades was also installed. When a hit was scored, a red light came on in the cockpit to indicate where the P-63 had been shot."

Very cool! Uhmmm, maybe a new sport dogfighting arena will pop up between mordern day prop planes! Imagine instead of Reno air races there Reno dogfights with these types of bullets. Betting would be wholly encouraged and folks on the ground could watch real-time gun cam fottage as the air warriors duke it out. There would be risk of course but not the degree of risk pilots faced in 'real' combat. Hell,if society allows UFC then this is tame by comparison.

This could prove to be slightly more annoying than fighting an I-153 in a Bf 109F2 /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Stab.I/JG1Death at HL, Maj_Death at Ubi.com

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.

This would be the coolest sport bar none, and I'm a huge hockey fan. Too bad it will never happen because of the risks involved with collisions and such. The bullet issue probably wouldn't be a problem but it would be too politically incorrect for any state to allow I would think.

Maybe in a South American country though...
