So who sent me that mail just so I know who to thump?

Botched rudder and elevators realigned and resized.
One side of fuselage raised.
Wings properly aligned.
Basic panel lines on and rivets.

Who said "never work from a void"? Oh yeah . . . ME!

06-15-2007, 06:25 PM
That will turn out to be a beauty! Of coarse I'm not biased or anything, but hey, you're the best there is.

06-15-2007, 06:51 PM
qoute...."I'm not biased or anything, but hey, you're the best there is".... guess us mere mortals can pack up our bags eh !!??.. in this instance tho .... you may have a point, its all about perfection, and if anything Jester does, its dot the "I's' n cross the "T's".... looking good m8

I've got a fairly tight masking laye and a "where is what" layer for the bouble-tops if you want it, Jester.

First post updated.

Most of the basic work is done now.
Hope to have a good line and rivets set that will work with metal and drab birds. (only time will tell).

Choc got hit on the head by a comet as a young boy, so we can cut him some slack. He obviously doesn't know what he's saying http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

FF that is a very kind gesture on your part and I gratefully accept.

I have a lot of the hidden areas sorted but there are one or two that I have yet to find.
My outline blank is just about sorted :S.

Would anyone like to donate a stencil set for this bird with the hatches the right way around, or donate a detailed sheet on the indication of what goes where please?

06-17-2007, 06:05 AM
I've got FBS's P-47 tempalte if you want that J

06-17-2007, 07:24 AM
Thanks for the offer WarWolfe, I'm all good for now, Kristorf has given me a hand with the stencils. Thanks Kristorf http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

As once been said in the past to you.....BUBBISH! Go back and start all over! Stripes too wide, in the wrong place, and no chess pieces to play with! what kind of a nutso skinner are you anyway! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I was gonna do one next after my P-51B project, but no....ya had gone on and started all this mess! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Kidding aside, I agree with everyone else, ya doing a sweet job! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

06-18-2007, 01:54 AM
and no chess pieces to play with!

Well they were there when I took off!!!!!

06-18-2007, 12:33 PM
I'm looking forward to the result, the world need more razorbacks!

06-19-2007, 03:41 PM
With a lot more ground work done and with FF's help things are a lot closer then they were.
Probably doesn't look like it but they are . . .

I'd rather have one set of lines and rivets that work with both Olive and Metal P-47's and I think I'm about there. Everything will be layered anyway, so it will be down to skinners to mess with these to get their own style.

I also through the template onto the 27 to see how things would look and as you can see, not a disaster yet. I'll check my books to see if this needs additional layers or not.

So to the pics . . .

06-19-2007, 04:55 PM
Smashing! If you gonna release that template, I'm gonna call you my best friend! :P

The more I see, the more me likes it too. I also agree about the seperate rivets and lines for Bare Metal and Cammo. No matter how you try, it's allot easier having these seperate.

In fact, I would have made one template just for cammo and another for Bare Metal skins just to make things more optimum for each one due to the weathering and wear and tear effects.

Come on everybody, group hug Jester! He deserves one for this. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

I think it's because he's counting the rivets.

I'll use your new template to vary the ones I'm about to do.

06-22-2007, 08:15 PM
I agree with the rest, this is gonna be responsible for an explosion of P-47 Skins if you ask me! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

06-23-2007, 07:36 AM
Damn you're good! Like your work a lot!

Wonder how the skins for SoW will look like in the future http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

06-23-2007, 08:01 AM
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the template, but it's the weathering that is giving this baby a kick and thats nothing to do with me. You got that Guse guy to thank for that.

06-23-2007, 08:16 AM
I can't believe I've only just seen this thread!

The P-47...my baby..lol!

Jester, as you may know from my films, this is the plane I adore, so fantastic news that an 'uber' template is in production.

Do you have any idea when this may be made available? It's like knowing what you want for a christmas present, but not knowing whether you'll get it!

Please check your PM's too!

Cheers, MP.

06-23-2007, 09:32 AM
There is good news and bad . . .

The good news is . . I'm happy that the Chunderbolt template is finished! Hurrah.

Problem . . .its 140mb.
Unlabelled and a mess, even I don't know where half of the layers are.

So 2 weeks?

Nah, I hope to upload it sometime this week all being well.

06-23-2007, 09:50 AM
Ya tease. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Great to hear it will be available soon. I think our Skipper will allow me to re-do our squadron birds using your new templates.

And by todays standards, 140 for a template ain't that big... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

06-23-2007, 10:56 AM

06-23-2007, 06:28 PM
Like I said before, Jester, take as long as you want. Thank you so much for taking your time to make a P-47 skin for me. I didn't think you'd even read it when I e-mailed you.

I'm going to take one more look at the metal layer, so it will be tonight or tomorrow. If I upload any time b4 Friday, this would be a 2 week project from start to finish http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.
