Put the correct Nagato in the Center Force. I took the time to edit and change most Capital ships to elite status as they react
and repair faster. My attacked got a lil bungled as somehow I got found out. I had to shootwith CA near me and sure he saw my scope. I could tell elite type ships increased speed and was hard to get a good speed, last setup the Nagato was up to 24, after I shot took speed again and it was 26kts, but I got hits, but wasted many torps.

After the attack, Nagato is listing and falling behind.

I tried to shoot at a Yamato, but it was going so fast I couldn't get a good angle, all missed, Not sure when the Maya CA got hit, prolly the Nagato attack, notice it's dead in the water....later on that.

The Nagato get left behind, so I was doing a end around. I was 6nms away on the flank when it spotted me and unloaded. You can see the distance with it showing in the background. Guess I'll start flanking in the daytime from 8nms, broadside, they really have good visuals.
Those TMO gun ranges are really increased.

I had chased the Nagato about 50 nms and sunk it. I was going back for the Maya DOTW when I get a single radar contact, here comes a lone ship.. The Maya had repaired and was underway at 14 kts. I notice I only see ships go from dead on the water to speed is when they're elite status..I think it's a good effect.
Still, didn't do it anygood,

If it's daytime and zero fog I'll usually stay about 7nm away if it's a task force that I don't want to tangle with. Kind of depends on the ship size, I figure there is some compensation in the game for the earth's curvature.

Your scope and radar are up too. Don't know if that makes you more visible.

Sadly, the earth is flat in game. They deal with ships below the horizon graphically, not curves.

Scope and radar at that distance no problems. I usually play with cams off and use the high scope to track and it's just habit.

I'm fairly sure TMO's visual new gun range value is 10,000 yards. Crew ratings act as a multiplier, so I assume vet or elite crews get a tad more range.

What I have to figure is gun size. I didn't see any big blast, but I don't think the large guns do anymore damage than the 5 inchers, seems they both cause the same amount, very little. If a 15in. shell hit a sub, it was over, even with a 5inch, it was usually over.

I've seen ships with their hull well below the horizon, I should have figured the game didn't have that kind of sophistication to figure visuals along the same lines.

Are there crew multipliers that would reduce that 10000yd range? Say, for poorly trained crews. I ask that, even though that's the type of specifics that keeps me away from delving into the modding and deciphering the game. I like not knowing exact stuff like that.

I just DLed the Nagato and DD ship pack. MWolfe, when you add these to traffic, do you have to deactivate all mods first?

Let's see.

It will be hard for you to understand me since you operate on a much higher level of thinking.

If you add those two mods as is, just load the mods. Both Shippack and Max work off existing platforms, 90% anyway. RSRD has some of the ships from the shippack already, but don't worry about that. You should see ships showing up as is.

If you want to add your own traffic, you need to activate your mods. When I'm building traffic I just use mods that effect it, I'll load TMO, RSRD and any ship mods. You must activate the ship mods, so they will show in the ME of Batch editor. You can then work on your traffic. When complete, deactivate your mods and activate them again so the changes will take place.

You can leave TMO activated, It doesn't mess with anything and no need to take the time backing it in and out.

Load Max's after shippack.

Mods differ, but set the sensors for each ship class. TMO's much harder as you know.

Seperate from this is crew rankings that act as a multiplier or subtractor. So visuals with a crew with poor ratings will be less than elite.
Crew ratings rank from poor-elite. Most in RSRD are set to a medium range, but some vets. No mods I know of use the elite rating, except TMO does for Bungo Pete.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif No, I work on the same level of thinking/reasoning (human) as you do. Thanks for the input. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I just had to mention this after seeing the pic of your sub taking some hits.

Other day playing a custom mission (US TF with all the big boys (BBs) and some CVs attacks a Jap TF with both Yamato Class ships and some CVs -- not realistic, but fun http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif ) and I noticed how quickly ships were being sunk. I was watching the American escots (Somers Class DDs) laying into the Yamato and sinking it in 2-3 hits. Ships were taking a small number of shells and exploding into huge balls of fire, breaking up, and generally being destroyed.
I decided to surface and put the 5/25 into the frey. Surfaced and raced toward the battle, guns blazing the whole way. Eventually I took one hit to the con tower from a Jap DD and instantly had 100% hull damage, destroyed bulkheads, massive flooding, etc etc. Mission over.
Long and short I figured out that I had left my sub-nuclear DG mod enabled (from a time when I was using a Balao cruiser as a battleship http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif ) and had thus turned the entire Pacific into a sub-nuclear war zone.
It was quite funny though, watching Somers DDs turn the Yamato into a sinking hunk of junk in seconds. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
