I ´ve never encountered such a bug...I have been able to dive the P40 past 700 KM, when it starts to shake, but never exploses...

The P-40 won't explode anymore after the patch. The Jug will fly like the true fighter bomber it was after the patch. I measure to guess that you will be enjoying them both very soon my friend. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

You heard about the performance of P40s in North Africa against 109s??

Ohh YES, the good ol' P-40 explosion bug. It is the only bug that doesn't needed to be fixed in my point of view /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I've been able to get some kills by diving with my target, up to 750 km/h. My opponents still thought that the P-40 would explode after 500/550 km/h.

Anyways, you should keep your engine RPM within limits. There's a red mark on your RPM dial at 3000. Don't go over it for too long.

I must admit that I didn't dare to go beyond 750 km/h but, I've read accounts of ppl who flew 800 with it.

After I grabbed the 1941 "Wild Bill" Kelso skin/pilot from IL2skins.com I took the P40E out for fun offline. I have experince flying 109E so when I dove I lowered the prop pitch to keep the revs low. I got up to 750kph and no explosion, just the normal shaking.

The question is, what did over-revving the Allison engine do, did the engine over heat, explode, catch fire, smoke, what?

Anybody know?

I don't know for sure but, it might shake some fuel lines loose or something. But instanteneous combustion is a little overdobe.

It will be fixed in the patch or, so I heard.

Ah, that's nothing. Anybody notice there's this little bar at the front of the 190 that blocks part of the reticle?

Here's a track showing it in a dive controling RPM with prp pitch.

CTRL-E will help that /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

In fact, it is the solution for all your Il-2 FB problems /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

LOL Guys - good one Dart /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

The P-40 bug is a wierd one, some people have it, some don't. From what I can make out it will not occur if the airframe is under positive G.

Try applying Negative G is a nose over dive and as it passes around 500+Kph it tends to explode, do the same but pull back a little as you pass this speed and no explosion.

You should be careful with Prop-Pitch to avoid over-revving but this isn't the cause of the problem - definite bug IMHO

For me it's speed related. I can fly level at 200m, and when it reaches 500 km/h it starts shaking and explodes. No G's involved here. No over reving involved here. Bug involved here.

True, you don't have to change prop pitch in the Aircobra untill a much higher speed in a dive, and even then, the thing doesn't just explode. Plus the AirCobra is hella faster.
