I had never seen a carrier since playing this everyday since April. I barely saw this one.
It is the end of 1942 and things are very different than the happy days. I never engaged a Destroyer, always evaded at any cost unless one walked in front of my Boat!.
But, now there are so many and I get 4 homing torpedoes for each patrol and I leave port with a homboy in the bow and stern with anther ret-to-go in both.
Because my convoys are overloaded with high rated escorts it is easier to get 1,000 meters from the lead ship and let loose homi. Then I remain stopped and put a straight fish for queer ships in the tube so I can have 4 for offense.

But, this time I had not had a sighting report when watch called out a warship at 90, long range. I would normally turn away but with slim pickins why not bag a destroyer.
I turned in and then called for periscope depth. I heard bullets flying and more than one set of search lights. A convoy. No merchant contacts, nope!! But what? A Task Force with a Battleship? I have seen 2 in my life and could not attack either.
I fired a homi and dove. No luck, it missed. I came back up and looked around clicking to lock on and see what was up. I got an escort carrier but it was a long way off. I fired a spread of 3. None hit. Long shot but I tried so I turned away to let my rear ended homi blast a last shot and try and at least get a destroyer.
Instead, it hit the carrier in the stern.
I saw €œTorpedo Treffe!! And nothing sunk so I dove to 125 meters and waited. I reloaded an hour later and came up and those cowardly escorts had vanished leaving a damaged CVE just waiting for me to finish the job. It is so nice how they just sit there and let you line up a perfect can€t miss shot. I then clicked save game so a power burp didn€t wipe out the very first encounter with a hunter killer group.
They were hunting for me and became the hunted. Das Boot in reverse.
I have reduced greatly the merchant ship tonnage to get the high scores down. The last patrol would have been 55K but only 26K because I reduced them. I did not check the Bogue class CVE. They have it at 14,500 which is its fully loaded displacement (actually 13.891). It should be 9393 tons standard. Too late now but I will change all the warships to be accurate now that I know it is possible they exist!!!

Nice work, Wulf! That shot at 1.5 power, I guess you took that after she was crippled, seeing there is no bow wave? How many fish to finish her off?

You lucky dog! I am on my third career and never have I seen anything bigger than a light cruiser.

I have had 50-100 careers and this is the first carrier I have ever seen.
Yes she was crippled by Homboy.
Then I easily lined up a straight guy with just one needed to send her down, 2 total
