View Full Version : Anyway to slow down aileron trim?

I have a Cougar HOTAS, and I want to use the Man. Range knob for aileron trim. But, it's so fast that as soon as I clear the detent it's doing rolls. The elevator trim is just about perfect.

Any advice?

I had the same trouble with my X45 rotaries, too much response within the center detent. I opened the conf.ini file and found which lines controlled the sensitivity of my two rotaries, and typed up a deadzone for them. They work great now. This may well work for the Cougar as well.

I can't remember which lines are my rotaries, I think it's the last two... 1RX and 1RY.

Is it possible to do the same thing with PP on a wheel ???


I like to use my PP on my wheel thats on my stick but its so sensitive that if I move it just a 1/32 of an inch it changes the PP from 100 to 60 or so its way uber sensitive please help me get this slowed down

You can either modify the Cougar axis for Range Rotary or even better (better control) modify the conf.ini file.

I did this for Antena rotary (which I use for elevator trim) and it works a charm. I now have it in 5% increments and maximum I get is 50% of axis travel. Trimming is much better this way.

Now if you're using default axis order in Cougar Control Panel, meaning Range axis is axis 5, then in conf.ini this axis is represented as 1U axis.

I just tested this and if I set 1U as 0 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40 45 50 0 then in game my propeller pitch (which is what I use Range rotary for) goes from 25% to 75% range.

I think for what you want the values could go like this:

0 10 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 100 0
