I've figured out how to create a folder to contain USAF campaigns correctly.
As the campaigns for other nations do, this folder will include the ranks, awards and USAF insignia,

I just need some help from you please...

There are seven <u>Ranks.</u>

ie.

<u>VVC.</u>
Mladshiy Leitenant
Leitenant
Starshiy Leitenant
Kapitan
Maior
Podpolkovnik
Polkovnik

&

<u>Luftwaffe.</u>
Unteroffizier
Feldwebel
Oberfeldwebel
Stabsfeldwebel
Leutnant
Oberleutnant
Hauptmann

<font size ="3">So what ranks do we use for the USAF?</font>
In ascending order please.

Also there are at least six <u>Awards</u> or medals needed.

ie.

<u>VVC.</u>
Order of the Red Banner
Order of the Red Star
Hero of the Soviet Union
Order of Lenin
Order of Glory
Order of the Patriotic War 2 class
Order of the Patriotic War 1 class

&

<u>Luftwaffe.</u>
Iron Cross 2nd Class
Iron Cross 1st Class
German Cross in Gold
Knight's Cross
Oak Leaves to the Knight's Cross
Swords to the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves
Diamonds to the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords
Golden Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds to the Knight's Cross

<font size="3">So I need the names of the awards in ascending order and images of each.</font>
Images should be 256x256x32 (full colour) ideally but I can convert them if necessary.

I'm from England, so began this exercise trying to create an RAF folder with British Ranks and Awards, but FB doesn't appear to allow this.
So my knowledge of American Ranks and Awards is lacking.

Over to you...
Please use this thread or e:mail me at extreme1@extremepossibilities.co.uk

Thanks a lot, I really hope you do have the images for awards/medals too.

Are the officer ranks in Ascending order?

Also what is the American spelling for Lieutenant. (is it as I've typed it?) And "Brig" is spelt "Brigardier" I take it?

Any info on the awards too?

You left out the bronze star and the congressional medal of honor.

Bronze Star comes before silver star and the Congressional Medal of Honor is the big daddy.

LEt me do a little sniffing around through my books and I'll see if I can't come up with a more definite list.

bs

XyZspineZyX
07-06-2003, 04:34 PM
ranks
(both lists are bottom to top)

1) warrant officer
2) 2nd lt
3) 1st lt
4) captain
5) major
6) lt colonel
7) colonel

(note: brigadier generals push pencils, not G forces /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif )

Medals:
There are several medals and badges for the US forces, but most are for campaigns, etc. These are the ones I'd use. I've definitely got them in the correct order of presidence.

1) Army Commendation Medal (remember, the USAF hadn't been intented yet, US pilots flew out of the Army Air Corps)
2) Bronze Star
3) Distinguished Flying Cross
4) Silver Star
5) Distinguished Service Cross
6) Medal of Honor

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your help.

I don't suppose you have immages of :-

the Bronze Star

and

the Medal of Honor

I suppose I could touch-up the silver star to make it bronze...

RE simple problem...

You also need an info.properties file in the mission folder.
This gives all name of the campaign and the brief description.
You've d/loaded my flights of fancy mision haven't you?
Check the folder structure out to see how I did it.

Extreme, thanks for the effort you're putting in to this. There were/are several different versions of the Medal of Honor depending on time period and service. One image is here at:

http://www.worldwariihistory.info/Medal-of-Honor/

that looks correct, but I'm not familiar enough with the variations to be sure.
As mentioned previously, the Purple Heart is usually given out after being wounded in combat, so it might still be useful (especially the way I sometimes fly.) Unlike the HSU, the CMH was never awarded more than once, though the Purple Heart often was (as were the other U.S. awards listed.) Multiple awards were signified with either stars or oak leaves affixed to the ribbon (bronze stars or oakleaves signifying one additional award, silver representing five additional awards.)

Blotto

"Only the spirit of attack, born in a brave heart, will bring success to any fighter craft, no matter how technically advanced." - A. Galland

"Look, do you want the jets, or would you rather I slap the props back on?" - W. Messerschmitt

There are different CMH's for different branches of the service. The Navy/Marine Corps has one and I'm sure the Army and Army Air Corps were the same. I know now the Army and Air Force are different.

Nice ideea, but shouldn't we first finish the eastern front, and then maybe some early western campaigns, and oly after gfo to a US or Canadian campaign?
Anyway, here's an useful site: http://www.dposs.com/usaf-medals.htm, it also has some after-war medals.

Any graphic designers that would like to get involved in creating the images for the awards (I bet there are plenty out there that can do a better job than me) please PM me or <a href="mailto:extrem1@extremepossibilities.co.uk" e:mail me</a>

They need to be in .tga format for the game, but I'd accept any high colour images sized 256x256 and convert them accordingly.
