I like the way Tim Buckley of CAD sums this whole thing up.

"If I may interject into all of the "Ding ****, the witch is dead" chanting, I just wanted to put a little perspective on Jack Thompson's disbarment. As much as you may "hate" Jack Thompson, it should be important to remember that he was not disbarred for speaking out against video games. We as gamers have not won any significant battle here against the idea, the belief that video games are the root of all society's ills. Jack Thompson was disbarred for the way he presented his opinions, in a blustering, overly sensationalist and irresponsible manner. So yes, while this may be a blow to his credibility and hamper his tools as an anti-video game violence advocate, I sincerely doubt this will silence him. And there are plenty more lawyers and politicians out there just like him. Though you may want to envision Jack Thompson as the figurative "head" of the anti-video game sentiment, and that that head has just been decapitated, try to keep in mind that he was just one particularly vocal appendage of a many-limbed beast."

It might not silence him, but he can't do his shenanigans "in the name of the law", if you will.

Goodness that took it's time, eh? And I agree, I'm sure he can find other ways of expressing his strong views somehow. I smell a Jack Thompson reality TV show or something just as odd in the future.

I was reading the article and it says he can appeal, but he has to have another lawyer sign off on his appeal that it's a legitimate case. ROTFLOL Who would sign off on that?

Well, just because he's no longer in business doesn't mean he's no longer against games. There are parents everywhere that will still agree with his crazy propaganda that all gamers are violent monsters ready to kill everyone in sight "because they do it in video games."

This may slow him down, but he'll still stir up the hornet's nest whenever he finds another rock.

We should pay some twelve-year-old kid to kick him in the shin and scream really loud "I saw this in a movie!" Maybe he'll forget all about us and go after movies instead... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
