View Full Version : How do you play FB or AEP with an PF+FB+AEP install?

I know this is a dumb question, but I am new to the game:

How can I play FB or AEP? I dont see any options in the main menu to switch over to play these expansions. Everytime I start up the game it ends up defaulting to PF and I would like to try FB or AEP now.

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the madness.
What you have is ONE game- its best to think of PF+FB+AEP as being one entity with FB being the original, AEP is an improvement on that, and PF is further additions.
What you now have is an incredible variety of planes you can fly over almost an entire planet. All the planes and maps that were available in the FB and AEP are still available in the merged version you have now. Enjoy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I dont understand. I want to try and play the original missions from FB and AEP, but the only options I have under missions are from PF which are mostly taking off and landing from a carrier.

First you install FB, then AEP and then PF with the merged installation option.

The missions from AEP and FB should be there, I just re-installed mine for the first time and found them there. If they're not there it sounds like the install hasn't gone well.

they are for MS Combat flight simulator 3

no, aces campaigns isn't the same. It's a campaign pack.

The demand for AEP is ridiculous.

I'm sure I also saw the collection of expansions for flight simulators (the link from play.com) in HMV last weekend. So, you may want to check one of the larger HMVs for it.

I experienced the saem thing - did a clean install of FB+AEP+PF from the disks when I bought PF and have all the planes, maps, etc but none of the FB or AEP missions. I have not bothered to wipe it and re-install as I play mostly my own missions.

I don't have any of the unofficial addons, so can't comment on that, but about the official:

The one way to go, followed by 99% of the players is: install Forgotten Battles, then the Aces Expansion, and then install Pacific Fighters with the "merged installation" option. Then all the patches for the merged version.

FB has Eastern Front warfare: mainly, but not only, Germans vs Soviets. Sturmoviks, BF109s etc.

AEP introduces many new cool aircraft and campaigns. Plus western front. Spitfires etc.

PF adds the pacific theatre of operations. Carrier operations, Wildcats, Zeros etc.

The unofficial campaign addons that you see around the web are exactly that. New campaigns. No new content apart from campaings.

I am pretty sure I installed every thing correctly. I am running v402m and I am able to play online with others without any problems.

Update: I think I have found the different single player missions by clicking on the different air craft from USSR and Germany. I still dont know how to access the campaigns from FB and AEP though.

Start by clicking on Pilot Career. Then select 'New.'

There should be some options for different career starting points -- without the ability to check, I think you have to navigate a menu with all the nationalities. After that you should have various careers like "fighter" or "bomber" or "Stuka" depending on the country you select. Last, you may have several options for which aircraft you will use for the entire campaign. Don't forget to set your difficulty settings at this time before you begin your campaign's first mission.

The cd with a lot of add ons from Play.com etc does NOT HAVE the AEP add on you need on it...

AEP from Amazon will not turn up for months, others have had that problem, however I CAN sell you an unopened copy of AEP for 6.50 incl of postage........ BUT you wont get it before Christmas as last post to be sure was yesterday 1ST class......... PM me if you are interested, the ones I have are German Versions.. IE Packaging only and manual, the game disc is the same and will be in English... If you want a reference I have already sold a copy to a member of the community and he is a Happy Bunny......... Oh and I am in the UK too...........

I still dont know how to access the campaigns from FB and AEP though.

IIRC there weren't any static campaigns with FB or AEP, only dynamic. Only the original IL2 Sturmovik included static campaigns.

Aces Expansion pack is the only official Expansion and its the only one needed to play the whole merged game online.

Get FB+AEP+PF and you will be good to go.

I am pretty sure there is a gold pack with FB+AEP isnt there?

Even if oyu have to buy all 3 you wont regret it, once oyu get online the game pays for itself 100 times over. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Forget offline campiagns for the times when your net connection goes down http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Online is where its at, get online as soon as you can.
