Hi. First of all, I would like to say that this post is not for me only, since BOB doesnt run on my pc http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif. Which of these two titles would you prefer to buy (supposing you didnt have any of them)

Remember that Bob has no multiplayer and mission creator. But it has an historic touch, and makes you get in the game.

Whereas Pf... you know better than me abou it!!!

See ya

BOB II has some great large scale battles, great voice work over the radios, and a lot of little things that add to immersion. Its really hard to get past the fact that the game runs like **** and has sub-par graphics. Also going back to "hit-boxes" is really tough to get used to. My personal opinion, BOB II is a POS.

BOB 11 does have some issues that they are trying to address as we speak with a new patch that may come out within a month.

Most people find FB/PF to be a superior product but I still have BOB 11 on my hard drive. I don't fly it much but visit the Shockwave forums everyday for news of updates. I think over time Shockwaves BOB 11 can only
get better. If your like most Combat Sim fanatics its only right to buy them all and decide for yourself. You will be supporting the flight sim community at the same time.

Don't confuse Shockwave BOB11 with Olegs Storm of War series starting with BOB. This new sim will come out in 2007 and I'm sure will be the Holy Grail of combat flight sims.

I think Chivas summed it up very well. BoBII has a nice Spitfire flight model, a fair stab at recreating 1940 southern English terrain (albeit a tad flat, and I can't forgive the green Chesil Beach) there are - as mentioned - some big battles to be had. But FB/PF is so far out in front, there's no real competition, BoBII will never catch up. Don't forget you can fight Pacific, Eastern Front and Med with FB/PF too - possibly the only drawback to the superior sim is that now we've got so many choices it's difficult to know what to fly next.

A couple of pics from each game for comparison...max settings on both.

As you can see - for a newer game, BoBII looks, well, dated.

If BoB II didn't crash as often as it did it would be a pretty good game. No IL2 killer, but it does do things well that IL2 doesn't.

For some reason I can't get BoBII to remember my HOTAS setup and button configuration. A big downer for me.

Be that as it may....with the recent release of the combined IL2FB/EAP/PF DVD there's no reason NOT to get it. It's stable. The flight models are desent if not quite stellar. It supports online play. And it looks beautiful. Oleg backs his product, and despite some grumbling by us fans, UBI does make sure we get Oleg's flight sim, and patches.

I have both and PF is far and away the better game/sim. BOB2 has some potential, but at the moment I would call it a BETA at best and the gamecode as stated above is quite old(damge models and so on).
I would make PF your first choice and if ya find $30 bucks somewhere down the road look into BOB2 at that point and most of the bugs will prob be smashed by then.
Just make sure you go the ace expansion pack/Pacific Fighters full package route, PF as a stand alone is lacking quite a bit.

THank you http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif! for your help!

One question, low_flier... do you live in England, Somerset, Glastonbury???

I live in Dorset - overlooking Portland Harbour, that's one of the reasons I'm always keen to see what it looks like in Battle of Britain games...but that is Glastonbury Tor in my sig, I'm about 45 - 50 miles south. Just seemed to go with the Whirlwind coming from Somerset. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
