View Full Version : Does their flying match their posting characteristics?

I've often wondered about this. Many of you have flown in servers with each other. Everyone has unique posting characteristics. I haven't had the chance to fly with many of you but I have noticed that those who I have flown with have characteristics similar to their posting characteristics.

For example we'll use Danjama. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

I would imagine that when he first came to the board he was probably to sort of guy that grabs the most powerful flying gun and dives in to furball. But Dan has come a long way since then. His posts are much friendlier and the quality has greatly improved. So, maybe now he is more of a tactical pilot, trying to find his strengths and weaknesses. He's probably a much better team player than he used to be.

What do you guyz think? I know it sounds cheezy but give it a chance. I think this thread has great potential.

I have a few I could comment on, but for brevity's sake I'll post 1 in particular...TX-Gunslinger. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif

His posts are well thought out, clear, and have substance. His flying is similar. He's quite a tactician and usually has a plan for all circumstances.

He's also a nice guy...just don't p1ss him off! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

I've only flown with a few people from the forums but its always interesting to see their abilities. I have found that the people I have flown with from these and other forums tend to be fairly capable overall.

Pingu is a calm and competent pilot who tends to pick the worst plane of the bunch and tries to win with it. Its a good quality.

I've flown with Locust a few times...had the pleasure to realy because he's a very conscientious pilot. I flew a couple of strikes on WarClouds back some time ago where he lead a strike in his P-38 with myself and another pilot in rocket armed Tempests. We made short work of rows of tanks and at least one 109 before the map was over.

Crazyivan of course with the VFC COOP nights back a while ago now.

Billfish...probably one of the hardest opponents I've ever had to face. Seems to make almost any plane do what its supposed to.

Boehmer is another fantastic pilot to fly wing with. Take a P-51 or a FW190 or whatever it is and we'll boom and zoom the enemy all day long. I think we once bagged 5 Spitfire V's apiece before having to land due to exhausted ammo supply.

There are others...personality does seem to match flying ability but I have to say that anyone I've flown with from these forums was a respectable and capable pilot.

Well my flying's often a bit of a joke...Which is why I stay offline (can't take the embarassment!!), So being called Jester.... Yeah. I'd say you might have a point there!!

Shall we have another go? Damn straight!
If you want to see a good mission look in the user submitted tracks on this sight. It's titled He 111 Misson! I don't get to fly online much due to work etc... but I do have fun.

Lol don't you just love those phantom killers. One time I had such an unusual good time of shooting down enemies in my 110 that I decided to go up to altitude and just savor the experience by cruising around a bit. I had just lit a cigar when I decided I had better look behind me when all of a sudden the rear gunner started firing. I looked back just in time to see a Spitfire open up and then the black screen of death.
I have since learned not to start the celebration too early. [img]http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The folks who seem reasonable and fun on the forums usually are pleasant to fly with and against.

Also the advices you get here are usually correct and the folks who give them will use them in a fight to good effect.

So yes, there seem to be a few links.

This is, of course, no general rule. Some like to talk a lot, others to fly a lot.

Nice He-111 stories, http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif .
