This one was new to me. Sorry if it is well known already, but I don't often visit the movie maker's forum.
I think this is one of the best movies I've seen made with the IL2 series.

Ride of the Walkiries (Walkyries):

Excellent. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif I hadn't seen that one before. It kinda reminded me of a Disney movie - say if they'd done a WW2 bit for Fantasia

WOW....that is very nicely done. Obviously there is some serious talent behind that one. Its derivative of classic films and film making but given that its machinema and the challenges involved in doing something like that...WOW. Impressive!

The only word to describe that is STELLAR!

Definite talent.

Totally built to an awesome climax. I love how the La-7 appeared through the smoke, followed by a whole bunch.

Brilliant directing! It looks like Hughs' Hell's Angels! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Sorry, but that was horribly boring and predictable.

I really enjoyed the way the movie coincided with the music. The way the black and white was done was excellent.

Sorry have to agree with Coastie, snoozefest.

Some neat angles, but watching 2 mins of 111's taking off is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

Where it really shone was after ~3:30. The fighters engaging the 111's was very dynamic, fluid and almost true-to-life in that "inertial" kind of way.

In some scenes the contrast was rather high, but what I did like was the *mixture* of applied "film" effects to give the impression of varied film stocks from more than one camera.

Overall, I was impressed.

That was the best editing I have seen in one of these films, the timing with the music was spot on, lot of midnight lamps burnt on this one.
As for Me-111's taking off being boring, being a bomber rather than a dogfighter I loved it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

I agree I thought the editing was spot-on, however what I would say is that this along with several other IL2 movies I've seen suffers from WAY too much of the black+white damaged film treatment.
Just because it is meant to represent historical events does not mean that the actual footage should look damaged/aged to such an extent, I say tone down the effect http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif other than that that great usage of one of my favourite pieces of Wagner.

Oh and BTW, I believe those were La5 fighters not La7 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Excelent work. You have to watch some old russian ww2 clips to understand it's value. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Yes I agree, it has that Fantasia feel to it all the way through.
