I'm playing as a AAAF Fighter Pilot currently in "New Guinea" Dynamic Campaign.

I keep getting airfield scramble missions, again and again and again and again....?

So far I've done about 7 in a row.

The only thing that changes is the enemy ac come from slightly different approaches each time.

Is this repetion normal or is this the Campaign I'm playing?

I thought I would get a chance to do some offensive fighter sweeps or other missions besides "SCRAMBLE".

It's annoying I know.
You can tweak things a bit with your DGen dynamic campaign but don't expect miracles.

Here's a few suggestions:

9. For every career a file that defines plane classes for this career can be created. File name is ClassesNnX.dat, where NnX is career ID, like DeS for German Stuka. It is a text file that overrides default plane classes for this career, the format is:

PLANE ROLE,
for example:

FW_109A4 FIGHTER
FW_109A5 FIGHTER

the following roles are supported:

FIGHTER = escort, intercept, recon missions
LIGHT = same as fighter, "soft" ground targets like trains can be attacked.
TANK = soft targets + tanks, not antiship or anti bridge.
JABO = scramble, recon and all ground attack missions
ALL = all missions, fighter and ground attack
GROUND = only ground targets, suitable for bombers or ILs
</div></BLOCKQUOTE>

This will make your fighter to go outhere and bust some ground targets for a change.... if you like it to. You can always revert to fighter later. Or whatever suits you best.

Tuning dynamic campaign generator
---------------------------------------------------

In accordance with your preferences and configration, you can place the following lines in file conf.ini
(all case sensitive):

1. Preferred distance to target

MissionDistance=nn, where nn is your preferred distance to target in kilometers. For instance:

MissionDistance=80

The request is not guaranteed to be fulfilled, if there are no suitable targets within the distance +/-30%,
any target may be selected.

By default any target may be picked up.

2. Difficulty

CampaignDifficulty=Easy
CampaignDifficulty=Hard

The default difficulty is medium

Changes your and enemy AI level

3. Air and ground intensity

AirIntensity=Low
AirIntensity=High
GroundIntensity=Low
GroundIntensity=High

Changes number of ground targets of opportunity, number and size of flight groups

Default air and ground intensity are medium
</div></BLOCKQUOTE>

That will also work good for you... I have my DGen campaign tuned a bit... just add a proper section to conf.ini, this is my section ;

<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">
[DGen]
RandomFlights=0
NoBadWeather=1
MaxFLAK=5
MaxBomberSkill=0
MissionDistance=30
OperationVictory=3000
OperationDefeat=-3000
WarVictory=30000
WarDefeat=-30000
UseParkedPlanes=1
SlowFire=10.0
AirIntensity=Low
GroundIntensity=Low</pre>

Note that you must manually edit and add the lines.
I will recommend one good program to you so you don't have to figure it all out immediatelly (I know that can be confusing):
IL-2 Shturmovik Stab Version 6.3 (http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=2169)

With that prog you can customize your campaign a lot.
If you have further question, feel free to ask.

Charlie901,

I had a similar experience with an online Host Choice coop dynamic campaign. We got stuck on mission 13, even though the mission objectives were consitently met. I finally had to delete the campaign and start over. Check and make sure that your mission time and date are actually changing.

I'm up to twenty in the same campaign. It still hasn't changed. The residents of Port Moresby are getting a bit pissed!

Breeze147,

Did you check and see if the date and time for the mission is changing?

Yes I'm getting DATE and TIME Changes with each mission.

I'm up to 9 of the same exact mission, only the date, times, and flight paths of the enemy planes are changing.

They still come in faithfully to try to bomb my airfield while we "SCRAMBLE" yet again (yawn).

They even come with the exact same makeup of airplanes...

They must be getting pretty short of Betty's by now...I've shot down about 40 myself.

What's going on here????

Try DCG (Dynamic Campaign Generator). It will replace DGen, and give you easy and direct control to edit your campaign without having to edit many text files.

Here is the download link:
Lowengrin's DCG v3.33 (http://www.lowengrin.com/download.php?view.113)

Give it a try. I will not be able to check this until later, but I can help you set it up easily.

Try it. If you don't like it, you can always go back to DGen.

IS this a BUG with the stock 1946 DGen????

It just seems strange to be getting the same 14th "SCRAMBLE" mission in a row where only the dates and times are changing?

Try DCG. I am not kidding.

Like Scharnhorst says, DCG is the way to go if you want to play dynamic campaigns.

Not only does it give you much more control over the conditions you will be presented with in your missions but the scope is much greater than the stock dynamic campaign generator that ships with the IL2 series. There are a huge number of campaign scenarios to choose from.

If you are new to IL2 then you might find it a bit fiddly to set up at first, but once you get the hang of it you'll be glad you did. It's an essential download.
