Thought I'd have a go at extending the handle on my X36 the other day to increase the movement at the top, and was surprised at how easy it was. When I unscrewed and removed the stick top, inside was around an extra 4-5 cms of wiringwhich could be stretched out, so no soldering was needed, woohoo. Don't know if this excess of wires is typical of all X36/X45s but it sure made things easier. I then simply scavenged the inner shaft from an old 10quid stick, drilled a couple of holes to mount inside the X36 outer handle part, glued the extension to the x36 shaft after passing the wiring through, then reinforced with milliput as it was all I could find lying around, then when dry screw back on the outer part with all the buttons. Now it feels I have alot more control when flying, what a difference 2 inches can make http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif.

Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for any damage caused to a joystick or controll device caused by modifications that may be attempted following this post. But if I can do it, and I'm pretty cr@p at these kind of fiddly things, I'm sure you can http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

when my first X-45 stick broke, i got creative!

only the throttle side broke, the stick itself was fine, but now useless..

i modified the shift stick in my car, and removed the ball off the top. replacing it with the x-45 stick. a friend (electrical genius)..helped me set it up so that the switches controled my windows, and radio..

wish i had pics, i REALLY miss that car, and my mod.

ther funny thing about it was that even though the shaft of the stick fit over the shaft of the shifter... there wasnt anything on there from the stick ROTATING it didnty slip up or down, it was basically a "twist stick", on a shifter.
but actually that was cool..my friends couldnt drive my car, because they didnt know how to move the shifter thu the throws, without it rolling around! it REALLY freaked em out.

Hmmm http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif bet that improves the momentum when he swings that pile of cr+p and throws it under the desk out of the way. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A Cougar owner http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Glad I kept my trusty X45 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

heheee... funny thing is after i got laughed at because of the mod... the ones who laughed with thier friends would all come up to me later on, by themselves, (when "friends" werent around)..and ask us to install them on thier car.

like right now.. im sure several of you are looking at the broken controls in the closet collecting dust..and going ."HHMMMMM" it is ORIGINAL..and ONE DAY the "fighter stick" shifter will catch on by auto makers. wait and see. to bad my ideas are always 10-15 years ahead of the times. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif Ahh, its lonely at the front of "future concepts" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

but i do beleive the X45 motorcycle "thrust" controller is a no go http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif
