Can anyone help a frustrated Newbie?

I am on Ubi.com trying to get in an online game, but am unable to connect to host server. I keep getting the following message:

Connection attempt to remote host failed. Reason : Timeout.

Cannot work it out and their online help not helping. I have ZA Free running but turned it off and still could not connect, so don't think that's the problem. Help please.

P.S. I note that alot of you use a different online area but help for UBI.Com is what I am after firstly as it may apply to other software titles. Thanks in anticipation.

I haven't played on UBI.com for soe years ago...
not sure if it helps:
What is your connection? dial-up connection could be the bugger, ar at least it was for me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
Do you have any else beside ZA running in the background, that could bother the connection?
What is the ping for the server you are trying to join? If the ping is high, then that is the problem, if not, then... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

The PING was 141 but my ping showed btween that and and 270 at one stage. Not so sure on waht this Ping thing is though? Complete Newbie to Online gaming I'm afraid!

Uninstalled Ubi.com. Installed Hyperlobby and bingo worked first time. Well there you have it. The majority are alway's right! (Unless you live in the UK, then it's generally the minority, but hey lets not go there!)

Pings up to 300ms are good.Don`t go over this figure. However if all users have big ping, wait a little it might come down.
