set increase-decrease prop pitch to stick buttons also tried keyboard commands -- when i use them get no message that ive used them - like you do with throttle and flaps - is this normal or did i miss something -

Make sure you have CEM enabled in the difficulty settings.

I think there is a command to toggle between auto-pitch and manual pitch. Once you have set to manual, then you can use pitch-up and pitch-down commands. Of course, you also need to have Complex Engine Management switched on, as Bearcat99 said.
