Scroll down to just below the picture of Ezio leap-of-faith diving from a rooftop into water. To the part where they discuss the flags.

Does anyone else feel foolish for methodically collecting them? I had my pc playing AC, and my macbook sitting on a chair next to me with assassinscreed-maps.com open. Took hours. Haha I feel ridiculous now.

Edit: I'm still glad I hunted all 60 templars though. That was cathartic to jab a blade into each and every one of those cover-breaking jerks.

Same here, same site and everything.
I don't think it was a total waste though. You really got to see every inch of the world they made by collecting them all.

I only went back and collected them a few months ago.

I still haven't finished collecting the flags, and I still intend to complete the process on my own. Eventually.

And no, the comments that it's useless won't dissuade me. Even from devs.

Wait, so AC2 will not have flags that you can collect? That's a bit of a relief.

I can see myself collecting them all if I was rewarded, like the achievements on the 360. But since I played AC on the PS3, trophies were not available at the time, so I never collected them all. Only the ones in Masyaf. =/

The only reason I went through all the trouble, really, was that I'm OCD about all those little "gene" bars lighting up. hahaha

For some reason, I liked the sound effect whenever I picked one up. Call me weird as well.

I liked the cloud effect

I thought they looked AND sounded awesome.

Still do.

Like I said, still collecting. I'm above 75% everywhere, 100% in Masyaf, and over 80% in Kingdom and two of three districts in Acre, can't remember which though.

Well, I don't know if they changed it, but it said there will be items to collect in AC2, but now you will be rewarded for finding things.

I'm guessing it all ties in with the economic system.

And where did you get that information from?
Patrice said specificly in one of the interviews that the flags are gone, but you will be able to collect something else.

You keep posting information based on no facts.

I think he works for Ubi. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

At the end of this interview Patrice says there will be something else to collect. I do remember an interview where he confirmed statues, coins, and flags but I couldn't find that source.

While watching this interview I noticed something that answers an off-topic question of mine. I've been wondering if we could only get an enemy weapon by disarming them. It didn't make sense to me that we wouldn't be able to pick them up off of the ground. But, at 4:16 in the interview I saw Ezio try to pick up a weapon so that made me very happy. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, if we do end up with flags, I'll eat my hat and offer him my apology, but until then, the guy is spreading out rumors without a solid base.

that's exactly the movie I was talking about that Patrice said there will be no flags but other stuff to collect.
