View Full Version : Destructive Environment?

Hey,

I am quite interested in this game, but I am curious to know if there is a full destructive environment (this game is not in the present time period and doesn't include frequent explosions, so i don't expect the buildings to be completely destructable). I noticed in one of the gameplay demos, where Jade Raymond was explaining a lot of the features, a simple overhang like structure was knocked down with Atair's blade while fleeing from a assassination. lol, correct me if that is not how you spell the character's name. So what I am asking is, will all structures be somewhat destructable?

I honestly thought that the developers, when I saw this topic, were out of their minds because making everything destructible in such a game like this doesn't fit right. This is no FPS game. It is an action adventure game, so for the most part, it would not fit to have total destruction, especially for it being in the Medieval setting. However, I must say that it makes sense for RTS and RTT games to have destruction because it is war, but this is not war. Is it?

hmm dont think so, since its kinda hard to destroy many objects with a sword

I think Jade said in the X06 vid that there will be "fully destructable" environments. That pretty much comes down to be able to knock down a wooden shelter here and there I suppose. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Yeah, I believe there will be fully destructive environments within the means available, which is to say you really can't destroy stone-based structures using your blade or your arrows.

I don't remember if there were bombs back then (correct me if I'm wrong) so I think hard stone walls or brick houses...anything made of rock can't be destructible.

The wooden posts, as shown can be brought down easily by one swipe at it with a swordhttp://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/sport/sport-smiley-020.gif

depends about how well built it would be, since if its built well you cant take it down with a sword...

i think they did have explosives, but they thought it was magic...like on 300...but i think that would riun the game abit, on the demo the stick looks like 6inch deep, and i don't think anyone could destroy a 6inch piece of solid wood with a single swipe of a sword...

Maybe I over-exaggerated. It'll probably take him awhile to knock a wooden pole down, but if it were a very fragile post, then he can tear it down with one swipe http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

It wouldn't 'fit right'? One of their main goals for AC is to make it completely realistic. How could adding another realistic element to the game not 'fit right'?

A few stalls knocked down to block off some gaurds behind you could be very beneficial to your escape route.

Ahahaha when I read that it made me think about how cool/stupid/funny it would be if you had to chop like a maniac at the pole to make it fall down whilst being chased by ten guards. Espescially if they added a desperate looking facial expression on Altair's face http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

anything (i'm guessin here) that would be able to be destroyed in a real life scenario will prolly be destructible in the game http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

it'd be cool if in that pic you could slice down that pole and the roof would collapse on that guard and that innocent person really shouldnt be standing there http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

perhaps you'll be able to throw someone or they'll fall back into a post, or some weak structure or somethin, and then it'll break and crash. Maybe this'll be one of those things that they're talking about when they say you can draw attention to yourself (like when u run across rooftops) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif

What I'm thinking is that it's going to be similar to Need for speed Most Wanted in that there are certain things you can knock down to break the ankles (basketball term not literally) of the guards/cops. If it is anything of what i am thinking, there are just things here and there that will regerate over time...not everything in the whole world. Just a thought

but on the demo it doesn't really seem to do all that much, he chops that thing down, and then he runs to the gate and the gaurds are there...it didn't seem that effecitve

That's because the guards are smart, so they there came alot guards running from other places, and a knocked down marketstand (or whatever it was) doesn't hold you; it just slows you down.

i agree. besides jade said that there would be guards that were also able to climb on walls and roofs but just not as good or as fast as you.

i dont see how it slowed Altair down at all =\ and i'm sure it caused alot of problems for the guards to have to climb over that pile of rubble (if they were actually trying to escape) to give them the time they would need to escape it only takes a split second to break line of sight and that could give ya the split second you need

ye, i suppose, but wouldn't like 1 or 2 of them have to stay behind to make sure northing happens to it?? and make sure the owner isn't hert :P lol, dig him out or something, and wouldn't doigng things like that make you unpopular with the populice?? if you run around destroying all the shops and things wouldn't people start to dislike you for doing that....

just for the record,

explosives were first used in the 14th century,
this is the 12th century

Unless, of course, you happened to live in China, where they used explosives long before that...besides the point maybe, since as far as I know, Altair isn't in China during any part of the game. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Um... did this make it in the final game? I can't seem to find anywhere that I can chop down a merchant stand or one of those other stands. I mean I know you can throw the gaurds into them and they fall down very uniformly. Anyone?

I jumped on top of a stand from a high vantage point onto a merchant stand and it crushed, killing 2 people beneath. Also had some pepper dryers collapse after slicing them.
